A spectator throughout as the players in front of him did the business. Tested by a couple of long-range piledrivers but was always comfortable. Could do little to prevent the goal but made a breathtaking stop late on.
Largely assured at the heart of the defence and was comfortable enough to bring the ball out and join in with the attack. Solid from a defensive perspective too until he was outmuscled by Mendy for Maribor's goal.
Encouraged by Mejac's troubles at left-back and looked to get forward to support McManaman at every opportunity. Most of the Maribor attacks came down his flank but he was generally steady.
A towering presence in the back line, he dealt with the Maribor strikeforce with consummate ease for large parts of the game. Helpless for the goal as Shotton failed to deal with the danger.
Never threatened defensively but appeared ill-at-ease with having to cut inside onto his favoured right foot when his side looked to build momentum from the back.
Sensed vulnerability in Mejac from the outset and tested his full-back time and time again with a series of tricky runs down the right. Linked up particularly well with Powell.
Reliable on the ball, fierce in the tackle and positionally astute, it was a good night's work for the all-action midfield man, capped by his goal as he showed bravery and a willingness to get forward.
Enjoyed the presence of Watson next to him and helped to liberate his midfield partner by shackling the Slovenian side's midfielders whenever they received the ball.
Typically silky, stroked the ball around the DW Stadium turf and caused the Maribor defence problems with his constant movement. Always probing, looking for gaps to exploit.
Two first-half crosses and two first-half goals set the tone for the Chilean's display. Got at his full-back time and time again but was not afraid to help out Shotton either.
Guilty of a few gilt-edged misses but largely shone in an unfamiliar centre forward's role. Thrived on his responsibility for the night as he always looked to run and open up space in the middle. Deserved his two goals despite his earlier profligacy.
An abject performance from the Slovenian, who was badly at fault for the two goals as he flapped at a cross before charging out of his goal. Looked uncertain for the course of the match.
Got underneath the ball for the opener and was generally ball-watching, evident in the move to the second goal of the evening as he failed to notice Watson's surge into the box.
Beausejour had a field day up against the right-back, who naturally became more and more inhibited on the ball and positionally because of the threat that Wigan posed down the left.
Looked completely out of his depth at left-back as he gave the ball away, failed to deal with McManaman and also nearly gifted Powell the opener with a sloppy backpass.
Could not track Powell's runs into the channels and struggled to keep tabs of the midfield runners. Looked nervous in possession, as well.
Never looked to get at Boyce and with McManaman offering a direct threat towards the poor Mejac - he should have been more alert to the danger his side faced.
One of the more impressive performers. A calmer head on the ball than some of his peers who looked hurried. Saying that, he di not track the run of Watson from deep as he neglected his defensive duties as part of the double axis in midfield.
On the periphery of the game as McArthur, Watson and Gomez dominated in the engine room. In such a crucial role, failed to offer enough in either an offensive or defensive sense.
Tricky and neat in possession but was brushed off the ball far too easily at times. The goals resulted from a lack of tracking back down his wing.
Anonymous for the majority of the game but shrugged off the attentions of Shotton to help his side get back in it. Offered an aerial threat but it was far too sparingly for a side who showed little invention in attacking areas.
The captain looked slow, laboured and cumbersome up front for a side who were in need of a focal point but he delivered the goods when he tucked home early in the second half. Unlucky to see a late effort tipped over by Carson.
Introduced for the tiring McManaman but was forced into more defensive work than he would have liked as the visitors sought an equaliser. Helped steady the ship but could not offer much going forward.
Beefed up the midfield numbers but had no real impact.
Came on for the final two minutes and did not touch the ball.
