  • FULL TIME! Valencia win 2-0 thanks to goals from Jonas and Feghouli, both cracking efforts. It's definitely a set-back for Andre Villas-Boas' side, who looked a yard off the pace, and never really recovered after conceding in the opening 20 minutes.
  • 90'
Andros Townsend comes close for Spurs, cutting in from the left, dodging a couple of defenders and hitting a blistering shot that is tipped over.
  • 89'
David Albelda is on for Valencia, a true club legend.
  • 88'
Two minutes remain, and it's just not happening for Spurs. Every through ball seems to be a little over-hit and is running straight to Alves in goal.
  • 85'
Spurs take advantage of some extra space to put Defoe through, but his shot is easily stopped by Alves low to his right.
  • 84'
    Red Card Tino Costa
Tino Costa is sent off, and he really was asking for it. He'd given away the previous free-kick, and could rightly count himself lucky to avoid a booking for confronting the referee, right in his face. He continued his remonstrations afterwards despite the referee being (in my eyes) very lenient. After going up to a head-to-head confrontation again with the referee, the midfielder is shown a red card, and he really can't argue with that.
  • 83'
Van der Vaart involved again, curling a free-kick at goal, but it's straight at Diego Alves and he catches it comfortably.
  • 80'
Van der Vaart turns well in the area and gets a shot away but it's blocked for a corner.
  • 75'
    Goal Sofiane Feghouli
GOAL! Sofiane Feghouli is slotted in down the inside right of the penalty area, and as Jan Vertonghen struggles to get close to him, the Valencia man absolutely smashes the ball across Friedel and into the far corner. That should be game over.
  • 74'
The goalscorer Jonas is replaced by Pablo Piatti. There's a little over 15 minute for Spurs to find an equaliser.
  • 70'
Spurs have increased the pace in the past few minutes, but they're looking likely to get caught on the counterattack.
  • 62'
Spurs' first change of the match and it's Rafael van der Vaart coming on to replace Jermaine Jenas.
  • 60'
It's fair to say that the tempo is noticeably slower than the first half in these opening 15 minutes of the second period. Valencia look the strongest at the moment, with Spurs failing to really get attacks going.
  • 56'
Spurs are playing a dangerous game tonight with their passing back to Friedel, with Valencia putting him under plenty of pressure and forcing some wayward clearances.
  • 53'
Defoe lines up a shot from distance, but it's well blocked and loops up for Alves to catch underneath his crossbar.
  • 51'
Defoe almost gets on the end of a through-ball from Walker, but couldn't get on the ball. As keeper Diego Alves went down to collect he looked to twist his studs in the turf, but seems to be alright now.
  • 47'
Lennon fires in a great cross from the right wing, but Defoe and Sigurdsson both cannot get on the end of it. The visitors receive a corner, and Assou-Ekotto's long-range follow-up is well over the bar.
  • 46'
Spurs get the second half underway...
  • So can Spurs come back from this one-goal deficit? They had plenty of the play in the opening 20 minutes, but faded somewhat after conceding.
  • 45'
Half-time, a cracking game of football so far, with Jonas' goal the difference so far, but Valencia have been on top ever since then. The second half is perfectly poised.
  • 41'
Fernando Gago plays in Feghouli over the top, but Friedel is out sharply to block at his feet with a vital interception.
  • 37'
Jonas' cross meets Paco Alcacer at the far post, but he can't keep his header down as it loops out of play.
  • 35'
Spurs have a decent opportunity from a free-kick, but don't seem to know what they're doing as they knock it short to Assou-Ekotto, who's clipped cross is charged down. Not the greatest routine.
  • 28'
Jonas goes close again, cutting in on his right-foot on the edge of the box to flash an effort just past the far post. Friedel isn't happy with the state of some of the defending.
  • 26'
That goal has really taken the wind out of Tottenham's sails. They haven't really clicked in the past five or 10 minutes.
  • 22'
Valencia should be two up. Walker misses his kick to allow Mathieu down the left, his cross is sliced by Paco Alcacer and spins just wide of the far post.
  • 18'
    Goal Jonas
GOAL! What a strike from Jonas Goncalves! The Brazilian is allowed to run at the defence, and opens up to shoot from 25 yards, sending an absolute peach into the top corner.
  • 16'
Spurs force yet another corner, they're really in charge here. An overlapping run from Kyle Walker means the right-back can get a cross in, and Lennon's shot is blocked over the bar.
  • 15'
And Spurs almost take the lead again, this time Lennon's cross finds Defoe, but it's slightly behind him and he can't get a clean strike on the ball. They're getting close though.
  • 14'
Defoe puts in a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but Jeremy Mathieu is on hand to mop up at the back post. From the corner, Aaron Lennon forces a double stop from Diego Alves from close range. He couldn't really get any direction on his efforts from that close, but good saves from the Valencia keeper.
  • 11'
Valencia go close! Brad Friedel is having a nightmare! He takes a heavy touch, and his kick is charged down but flies to safety. He is then rushed again and Valencia almost get a strike in on goal, but the American keeper gathers in a cross.
  • 9'
Gareth Bale motors past the Valencia right-back and sweeps in a cross, but Gylfi Sigurdsson's shot is both sliced and deflected, with the hosts clearing.
  • 7'
But it doesn't come to anything, as the hosts play it short and the visitors clear the resulting cross.
  • 6'
    Spurs concede a corner...
  • 3'
Spurs were on the attack, with Jermain Defoe getting a cross in, but he just couldn't find a team-mate.
  • 1'
    And we're underway...
  • The teams are in the tunnel, and we're just waiting after a prolonged delay, in which the Valencia squad was introduced, one at a time, to the crowd with a fireworks display to boot. That is not a joke.
