That's all from me, Atanu Mitra. Thanks for your attention. Mohun Bagan playing Bengaluru FC, Arsenal- Stoke City and the Manchester Derby awaiting all of you. Stay tuned to Goal for the latest from the world of football. Cheers! Goodbye!
Man of the Match: Lalkamal Bhowmick. Pulled the strings well and was very good with the ball. Eric deserved it equally though.
Full Time : United Sports 2-0 Rangdajied United. Deserved win for the hosts as the debutants also impress.
90' + 1'
Yellow Card Eric Brown
90' + 1'
Great strike form Eric!! Good save by the visting custodian Paryar also. Now, in the counter-attack, a ill-timed tackle by Eric earns him a place in the referee's book.
Eric and Ranti have combined very well and the team has considerably improved their display in the second half.
Only a few minutes left in the fixture. 21 days of preparation and what a performance from United!
Lyngdoh sends the corner in the box, but fisted away by Sangram. Lalkamal backheels it to Asif, who passes it to Ranti, only for the lineman's flag to be raised.
Good cross from the left flank. But Iwasaki's cross held eaily by Sangram. A few moments later, United concede a corner.
Corner for United. Rafique fails to connect it and fouls a defender in the process.
Tapan Maity taking treatment in the fround after suffering a knock.
United will now try to safeguard their lead for the 10 minutes left. Will not be tough, going be the recent trend of the game.
Eelco will be a happy man now. The side who have struggled to attract a sponsor over the summer, are now leading by a safe margin.
Goal Eric Brown
GOAALLLL! And Eric opens his account for his new team. What a finish! From the left edge of the box, takes a shot that dips after going past Paryar and United double their lead. One of the best finsihes of the league so far and surely he deserved it.
SHEER BRILLIANCE!! Eric Brown plays a top-class pass for the onrushing Ranti, but he fails to reach it. What a pass that was!
Good passing football from the visitors, but they fail to create something fruitful Belo and Anupam has combined very well in the defense.
Rangdajied has been impressive, but has lacked impetus in attack. Lacking in presence in the opponent half.
Contrary to public assumption, United has looked comfortable in possession. Not the most fit team, but knows very well what they want to do.
Yellow Card Ranti Martins
And that's the fashion of Indian football now-a-days. After Raul Fabiano yesterday, Ranti now goes into the book for opening his jersey while celebrating. Not very professional from the highest scorer of last year's league.
Goal Ranti Martins
GOAALLLL!! CLASS!! That was Ranti Martins for you. Arguably the best striker of recent times, the talismanic goalmachine after he was left unmarked near the 6 yard box. Eric Brown floats a free-kick perfectly set for Ranti. He does no mistake as his header goes into the net.
Edmar, as wer were discussing, has looked unfit. He comes off. In goes Bansharai Sun.
Two back to back corners for United. But Dhanachandra was in an offside position. Ranti starting to look dangerous.
And Vineeth goes off! The winger who had been brought in the 7th minute, is now replaced by Mohhamed Rafique. Another U-23 player brought into action.
The teams are playing more aerial balls now, though nothing coming out of it.
Edmar has been sluggish thorughout the game. Got the chance of the match and wasted. Now fails to beat Anupam Sarkar. Not impressive!
Eric Brown has been one of the most impressive figures on the pitch. Dropping down occasionally and looking one of the fittest of the lot.
The temperature has gone down and the players look rejuvenated.
Rangdajied with a few early attacks after the break. And also a few good offside traps from their defense.
Ranti Martins! Oh that's an offside. Would have been into a one-on-one position with the goalkeeper.
First attack of the second half! Rangdajied plays a long ball for their towering forwards, but Sangram gathers it while two opponent strikers were only a feet away.
Half Time Scoreline : United Sports 0-0 Rangdajied United. A drab encounter that saw a few chances. Justified scoreline.
And here we are! Back after the break. I am your host Atanu Mitra and I will be bringing you live updates for the next 45 minutes.
Only 10 minutes left for the biggest match of the day as Bengaluru FC play host to Mohun Bagan in their first ever I-League match. The youngest vs the oldest, it's going to be a mouth-watering clash. Stay tuned to Goal for all updates from the I-League. I take a 15 minute break for now.
Ranti Martins!! The talismanic Nigerian hits the side netting from a free kick. Another free-kick in the other end, and easily parried away by the custodian. That's the last bit of action for this half.
Iwasaki takes a shot now. After running through the left wing, he opts to take the shot himself from an almost impossible angle. Should have played a square pass there.
HOW DID HE MISS THAT! Edmar Figueira was fed with a long ball, completely unmarked. With the length of goal at his mercy and only Sangram to beat, he heads it weakly, that too far away from the woodwork. Bad, bad miss.
Vineeth sends a low ground pass from the left flank, but Deepak Mondal takes too much time before taking a shot from the edge of the box, and the danger is gone.
WAS THAT A HANDBALL? Ranti's shot hits Tamba, but was it his hand? Eelco was shouting for a penalty, as was his players.
A few attacks from Rangdajied, but lacked the final threat. Belo, as usual, has performed brilliantly.
Asif has not impressed at all, with the second pivot of the United side failing to pull off takcles in the middle of the pitch. The visitors ae finding it easy to invade into the opponent box.
The left end of the Rangdajied United has looked out of ideas as the lack of co-ordination between Yohei Iwasaki and Mun Mun has been used by the star-studded home team.
Ranti has created space for himself but a number of bodies come in his way before he takes the shot. Cleared from corner.
A weak cross from the right flank for United. Easy clearance for Lamine Tamba, the experinced centre-back.
Kind of a drab fixture so far. Only 50-60 spectators in the ground. A number of Airtel hoardings aroung the pitch however reminds us who are the title sponsors of the league.
A flurry of corners in the home end. However shoots from Edmar and Mun Mun Lugun goes hayward. The last 5 minutes have been all Rangdajied.
No harm done from the corner as the back pass from Rangdajied allows United defense to retain their shape.
A number of fouls in the midfield by both the sides, In the meantime, Lyngdoh again swings in a ball from the right flank. Anupam Sarkar with a timely interception. However, his touch was not one of the best and the ball goes out for a corner.
The game has started to open up as both the teams are now going for the kill.
BEST CHANCE SO FAR! Tapan Maity's corner was headed goalwards by Ranti, but was brilliantly saved by Sujay Kumar Paryar. On the rebound, Vineeth takes a powerful shot, only to be gathered by the custodian. But was it gathered inside the goal? the referee pays no heed to the hosts' appeal.
Yohei Iwasaki, the Japanese playmaker of Rangdajied has a good spell of possession in the midfield, but plays a poor pass after going past a couple of United defenders.
The visitors have started to settle in their first ever I-League match. An even encounter till now.
CHANCE!! FIRST SHOT ON TARGET! It's Lyngdoh again. The youngster utilises the free space he was provided with by the United defense and takes a low shot to test Sangram. Easy save for him though.
Brilliant wingplay! Lyngdoh has a quality run down the right but the ground cross lacked intent. Cleared easily by the experienced Deepak Mondal.
Very cautious start for the Purple Brigade. In its first home match, playing short passes and not adventurous at all.
Another corner for the visitors. Gathered easily by Sangram.
Masterpiece from Eelco! Since there is a rule that a U-23 player must play for at least 5 minutes, Biswajit is now replaced, with Indian international C.K.Vineeth coming on.
Good work from Belo Rasaq! Parries away the danger from a move started by Edmar. First Corner of the game. But after some intial fumbling from Sangram, it goes out for a goalkick.
Edmar trying to fix things for Rangdajied. The no. 11 of the visitors dribbles past an oppoent player before playing a back pass. Slow start from both the sides
Eric Brown drops down to claim the ball. Though Rangdajied had a share of possession, it's gone now and Prayag again have the ball.
Prayag trying to build it up patiently.A number of short passes played in the midfield.
CHANCE! United Sports have the first chance of the game as Eric Brown sends in a good cross from the flank. Cleared by the Goalkeeper though.
The referee blows the whistle and here we go!
The teams are going through the pre-match handshakes. I am Atanu Mitra and I will be guiding you through the live action for the next 90 minutes. Stay tuned!
So, Biswajit Biswas is the U-23 in the line-up with Mohammed Rafique rested. Sangram starts after returning only this morning from an office game.
United Sports line-up: Sangram; Deepak, Belo, Anupam, Dhanachandra; Lalkamal, Tapan Maity, K.Asif, Biswajit Biswas; Eric Brown, Ranti Martins
Now, speaking about the United Sports, they face an uphill task of matching the I-League standards after starting their practice only three weeks ago. They have played only 2 Kolkata League matches this season and have failed to impress on both the occasions.
Let’s talk about the debutants first. Though the team lacks star-power, Santosh Kasyap has a number of promising youngsters at his disposal, who will try to prove their mettle after helping the team to gain promotion through a fairly impressive I-League second division outing.
No TV telecast of the match and so this remains your only way to get regular updates as the cash-strapped Kolkata side try to get the better of their North-East Indian opponents.
Hello and welcome to Goal’s I-League coverage as United Sports play host to a young Rangdajied United side in the first ever I-League encounter for the newly-promoted visitors.
