Santosh Kashyap's men will compete in their last ever I-League match as they have been banned from next season. They will look to cause trouble to moneybags Prayag United...
PRAYAG UNITED SC
Mandal, Gouramangi, Bello, Dhanachandra;
Lalkamal, Rafique, Malswamtulunga, Asif;
Parvinder, Wahid, Odeola, Gawas;
Bisht, Brown, Katsumi;
Kailash, Lalrinuamana, Kunal
Prayag United will be looking to end their season on a high when they take on Santosh Kashyap's ONGC FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The I-League's financial powerhouses need to garner a win to keep their fifth place intact. They are 6 points behind fourth placed East Bengal. Eelco Schattorie's team are on a two match winning run and will look to make it 9 points out 9 when they face the Oilmen. The attack has been functioning well as they scored six in their last two games.
In the early stages of the season, had Prayag United played ONGC, the odds would be in favour of a Prayag win given the difference in quality and form between the two teams. But now the situation has changed drastically as ONGC FC, despite their ban from the league next year, have looked a competitive and fighting unit under Santosh Kashyap. They will however need to close their campaign on a positive note as they have not won their last six games. The Oilmen's last three points came against Air India during the start of March. What will be heartening for Kashyap is that his side maintain their defensive shape very well in stark contrast to their fortunes in the start of the season. This will be essential when they take on a side like Prayag who have so many avenues to get a shot on goal.
Prayag United: Eelco Schattorie will most likely field the same lineup that took to the field against Shillong Lajong.
ONGC: Kashyap can avail the services of midfielder Eric Brown who returns from suspension. The rest of the team is expected to remain unchanged.
