Full time at White Hart Lane, and Tottenham have beaten Inter 3-1. What a remarkable performance from the home side, and what a remarkable performance from Gareth Bale. The Welshman's stock continues to rise as he terrorises the European champions once again.
90' + 2'
We're into the three minutes of stoppage time, and Spurs are on the verge of one of the greatest results in the club's history.
Yellow CardLuka Modric
GOAL!!! Spurs have surely killed the game off! 3-1 Tottenham, Pavlyuchenko scores, but once again it's that man Bale, who glides down the left hand side on the break, crosses low and invites Pavlyuchenko to tap home.
Lucio is completely pointlessly booked, talking himself into receiving a yellow card after believing he should have been awarded a throw in.
Spurs are trying to keep the ball here, but they seem unsure whether to stick or twist, knowing that Inter can hit them on the break at any moment. Wilson Palacios is set to come on now, toighten things up in midfield, and he replaces Aaron Lennon who's had a terrific game.
GOAL! 2-1 and Inter are back in it with 10 minutes to play. Samuel Eto'o connects the ball from Sneijder, shifts the ball to his right foot and bends a fantastic low effort past Cudicini. We're in for a tense close here...
It's been a mixed evening for Peter Crouch - he really should have scored Spurs' second goal in the first half, but in the second, he has scored, and he comes off to applause as Roman Pavlyuchenko replaces him.
Yellow CardJermaine Jenas
Jermaine Jenas has just been booked for diving. The midfielder tries to buy a foul from Samuel, but the centre-back stands up and Jenas sprawls over under no challenge.
Well, Diego Milito has been on for mere seconds and has almost pulled Inter back into the game. The Argentina international, returning from a long injury, receives a sublime flick from Eto'o and his shot from inside the box flashes across goal.
Good save by Cudicini. A lovely move from Inter, passing around the edge of the Spurs box through Coutinho, Pandev and Eto'o, but the striker's shot is well saved.
You sense the Spurs fans understand that they are playing the Champions League holders, and so anything can still happen. When Inter have the ball, it's all very tense in the stands.
That is so close. Spurs think they have a third after yet more dancing from Bale, but the fifth official spots the ball go out of play as he passes Maicon, and the home crowd is forced to calm down.
GOAL!!! 2-0 SPURS! Peter Crouch strengthens the hosts lead with a simple tap in, but all the hard work is done by Gareth Bale. The Welshman slides past two as if they aren't there once again and sends in a teasing low cross that Castelazzi doesn't get, but Crouch does.
Well, this is the sort of start to the second half Harry Redknapp would have been hoping for. Spurs are still looking the brighter side here - but that constant threat from Inter remains.
Crouch goes close this time. Spurs are launching cross after cross in at the striker, and he connects with this one from Hutton, but it lacks power and Castelazzi tips over as he back pedals into his own net.
Inter have made a change - Muntari, who was feeling a niggle in what looked to be his calf, is replaced by 19-year-old Nwankwo.
It's inches away from being 2-0 Spurs. Huddlestone's free kick is flapped clear by Castelazzi under a challenge from Crouch and the ball falls to Bale, whose attempted lob from 20 yards just bounces clear of the post.
Yellow CardCristian Chivu
All the talk pre-match was about Gareth Bale, but on the opposite side, Lennon is having a great game. The winger plays the ball past Chivu and sets off to pick it up, but the defender blocks his path and receives a yellow card for his troubles.
That would have had to be pretty special to hit the target there, as Sneijder's corner is cleared as far as Maicon, who volleys well over. Inter again posing Spurs a threat though - a fantastic cut and thrust to this game.
And Spurs very nearly have a chance to make it two immediately. Lennon sends a ball towards Crouch who chests and attempts a scissor kick, but the ball falls to Bale, who can't quite get a shot in under pressure from Lucio.
Rafael van der Vaart
They're back out at White Hart Lane and Inter get us under way. Van der Vaart, the goalscorer, has had to come off and Jermaine Jenas replaces him. In terms of entertainment, more of the same please.
Half time at White Hart Lane, and yes, it really is Tottenham 1-0 Inter. Spurs will be delighted with their first half as they created plenty of chances but were just lacking the final effort at goal. Inter look dangerous on the counter though, and Harry Redknapp's side will have to be on their heels in the second half.
And that is a wonderful save from Carlo Cudicini. The Italian, standing in for the suspended Heurelho Gomes, follows Sneijder's curling, dipping free kick all the way and pushes it out for a corner.
Free kick for Inter in a very dangerous position at the head of the semi circle at the edge of the pnalty area. Van der Vaart cynically brought down Eto'o, and Inter have a chance.
Another half chance for Spurs. Bale the provider again, sending in an early ball which Crouch heads down. Van der Vaart is forced to chest down for Huddlestone, and his left foot volley flies well clear of the crossbar.
Yellow CardAlan Hutton
That's a waste from Alan Hutton. Van der Vaart finds him with a lovely cross-field volley, but the Scotland international spoons his cross wide. Inter - particularly Biabiany, Eto'o and Sneijder, are starting to look dangerous on the counter, and Hutton blocks of the Cameroonian for a yellow card.
Ooh - that was close. Van der Vaart's free kick catches a deflection and nearly loops in under the crossbar, but instead lands on the roof of the net. Van der Vaart's corner is collected by Castelazzi.
Yellow CardWalter Samuel
Free kick for Spurs, and Walter Samuel goes into the book. Lennon is on his heels and coasts past Samuel, who clatters him over in unceremonious fashion.
Ooh, very good block by Younes Kaboul. Lovely piece of link up play between Eto'o and Sneijder, but the French centre-back blocks the final killer pass from the Dutchman, and Suller Muntari is reduced to blasting over from distance.
For the first time, Bale decides not to take on Maicon and pulls the ball onto his right foot, before firing over. Good response to a spell of pressure from Inter.
Best move of the half from Inter, as a Spurs attack breaks down and they charge in numbers up the pitch. Sneijder eventually finds Lucio - yes, Lucio - and his drive deflects just wide for a corner, which comes to nothing.
Half chance for Inter. Pandev tussles with Hutton on the Spurs right and the ball breaks for Javier Zanetti, who shoots harmlessly over.
Well, it really should be 2-0 Spurs. For the umpteenth time already, Bale races past Maicon and sends in a cross, Peter Crouch is waiting but he volleys across goal.
Well Spurs have an early goal which could prove to be vital for them. Inter will be drawn out more and more as the game goes on, and the home side will have to be at their sharpest in defence.
GoalRafael van der Vaart
1-0 Tottenham! Rafael van der Vaart puts Spurs in front at White Hart Lane. Absolutely excellent work from Luka Modric as he ghosts past the Inter midfield and plays a beautiful disguise pass to the Dutchman, who looks up and side foots past Castelazzi. Game on!
Another dart down the left hand side from Bale and another corner. Maicon fails to stop him again, but Inter again deal with the resulting cross with ease.
More good work from Spurs. The quick feet of Bale skip past Maicon this time, but the winger's low cross is too close to Castelazzi, who collects comfortably.
First shot at goal for Spurs. Gallas won the ball and moved it on to Huddlestone, who played Modric in. The Croatian sells Lucio a stepover, but his shot is tame and easy for Castelazzi to save at full stretch.
Good spell for Spurs, there. Van der Vaart, Lennon and Huddlestone all send crosses into the box, but Inter's defence is equal to it. Then Samuel Eto'o sends in a rasping shot at the other end that skims the side netting.
Spurs have started quite brightly and Aaron Lennon tries to spring Van der Vaart, but he can't beat the offside trap as Lucio steps up.
First corner for Spurs - Van der Vaart whips an outswinging cross into the box, but it's headed clear.
Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart get Tottenham underway at White Hart Lane!
I'm Jamie Dunn, by the way - I'll be with you right through to full time.
And, surprise surprise, here is the Inter team: Castellazzi; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu;Muntari, Zanetti, Biabiany; Sneijder, Pandev, Eto'o. Subs: Orlandoni, Cordoba, Milito, Materazzi, Coutinho, Santon, Nwankwo.
Let's get straight into it, then. Here is the Tottenham line-up for tonight's game: Tottenham: Cudicini; Hutton, Gallas, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Huddlestone, Modric, Bale; Van der Vaart; Crouch. Subs: Pletikosa, Jenas, Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Palacios, Bassong, O'Hara.
