Was sprightly more than once to sprint off his line and claim the ball. Couldn't do much about the first goal but will be disappointed to have let in the third at his near post.
Like his partner at the back, was a little slow and too easily backed off the Chelsea players as they broke forward.
Got forward more than his colleague on the other flank but was unable to stretch the Chelsea defence.
Run ragged by Schurrle and couldn't cope with the German's threat. Had a poor night capped by an unfortunate own goal as he sprinted in to follow up Eto'o's shot.
Made a couple of important clearance but was caught standing more than once, particularly for the first and second goals.
Quiet in the first half but given more freedom to run forward after the break. Still struggled with Chelsea's presence and didn't support well defensively.
Looked Steaua's best attacking threat, pushing forward down the left on a couple of occasions and producing some deft touches.
Adrian Popa I
Very quiet down the right-hand side as he constantly had to track back to support his full-back, and was replaced at half time before he could make any real impact.
Had his side's best chances of the night in quick succession, seeing a volley blocked before driving over. Otherwise had a tough night as Lampard and Ramires controlled things in the middle.
Looked nervy early on with a dodgy header, and the Steaua captain wasn't able to lead by example as Chelsea ran the show in midfield.
Often isolated up front but made his presence felt in the Chelsea defence, constantly hassling Terry and Luiz, but was replaced at the break after being unable to make an impact further forward.
Enjoyed a reasonably quiet day at the office, looking sharp to race off his line when Oscar misplaced a pass and only once being tested by Tanase.
Supported Schurrle well down the left and had very little to do defensively, but was sloppy in possession a couple of times.
Defensively as solid as ever, good in the air and covering the flank well. Didn't get as forward as much, but that was clearly Mourinho's tactic.
Didn't have too much to do as Chelsea bossed the game, but did have a couple of shaky moments with players running in behind, and he gave away a few fouls.
Tried to send passes forward with his usual flair, but they often went astray. Defensively, though, looked very solid and made multiple clearances.
Played a pivotal role as he helped Chelsea dominate the midfield, was constantly in the right place and provided the excellent Schurrle with plenty of service before capping a fine performance with a good late strike.
Slightly off form and saw a couple of passes go astray in the first half, but really improved after the break as he caused havoc on the right. Set up the third goal with a perfectly-weighted pass.
Another typical strong performance in Europe from the midfielder. He ran hard to be in the right place for his first goal and finished superbly for his second.
A superb showing from the German as he had plenty of joy against the hapless Gerogievski on the left-hand side and was the fulcrum of Chelsea's barrage of attacks, constantly delivering danger from the flank.
Deservedly in the side after changing the game against Tottenham, Mata did look a little rusty with a couple of stray passes, but also made sure he tracked back - something Mourinho has asked of the Spain midfielder.
Came on for Georgievski with 20 minutes to go and immediately looked more confident, making the flank more solid.
Replaced Popa at the break and added an extra dimension, almost setting Kapetanos free with a superb pass and cropping up in several areas of the pitch.
Came on at half time and caused problems for Terry with his movement, getting in behind the Blues defence on a couple of occasions.
