Having beaten Dempo SC and Pune FC in their last two games, Prayag United are out to prove that they can play equally well against the lesser lights of the league...

Sporting Clube de Goa take on Prayag United in an I-League encounter at the Duler Stadium, with the hosts hoping to complete a double over their more expensively assembled visitors.
The Flaming Oranje have lost just once in their last 5 games, but have drawn 3 others, meaning that they continue to look over their shoulder at the relegation scuffle below them.
The problems of the Goans start from the top, where they have struggled to replace James Moga, who joined Pune FC over the summer. After quickly finding Bong Bertand out of his depth, they signed Obiora Anorue, who too has now been released.
While they have carried over their tendency to concede silly goals into this campaign from the last, the goal supply has dried down, leading to their perilous position.
The return of Keita Boubacar and Ogba Kalu from injuries early in the season has added some experience and quality to the side, but Adil Khan is still missed.
Coach Oscar Bruzon is still finding his feet, but will relish coming up against the Dutchman Eelco Schattorie, with both coaches looking to impose a pass and move philosophy at their respective clubs.
Schattorie will be hoping that his side can find some consistency...
Schattorie’s time with Prayag United has been far from smooth. While he began with a bang against United Sikkim, the team’s form has been wobbly ever since. While they have been formidable against the big guns of the league, their inconsistencies against the smaller teams sees them almost completely ruled out of the title chase.
They shall be looking to win their third game on the trot when they take to the pitch in Goa, having seen off the challenge of Pune FC and Dempo in the last two matches, with a clean-sheet to boot.
Ranti Martins upfront with Carlos Hernandez in a role of a play-maker, continue to be the danger men for the Kolkatan outfit. However in recent times, Lalkamal Bhowmick, C.K Vineeth and Shankar Oraon have made the side even more dangerous, as they adapt to Schattorie’s system.
It remains to be seen if Keita and his fellow defenders can keep this lot at bay.
Sporting Clube de Goa – Dawson Fernandes and Keita Boubacar are expected to be available for selection. With Obiora released, Victorino Fernandes, Dawson and Seiya Sugishita are expected to provide the fire-power upfront.
Prayag United – No changes are foreseen from the side that defeated Pune FC 2-0. Kayne Vincent is slowly regaining fitness, but will most likely take a place alongside Lester Fernandes on the bench.
