The Goan outfit, who haven't been in the best of form shall face a hapless Bagan side on Sunday...
Sporting Clube de Goa hope to get their campaign back on track after failing to win a single game since the I-League has resumed.
They have had two losses and draws respectively in their last four outings. Coach Oscar Bruzon has time and again reiterated of their team’s aim to make it into the top three.
However due to their poor form lately, they have slipped to fourth position with Pune FC and Salgaocar FC overtaking them.
“We have been practicing well for the last two weeks and I feel now is the time to show consistency in our performances. “Since the Federation Cup final, we have had many key players out with injury and this is the first time in a long time that I have got a full fit squad,” remarked Oscar.
“It is the small details that we need to take advantage off, which will reap huge results. We respect our opponents, but I know what my players are capable off. I am sure the game is going to be a typical Goan-Kolkata cracker and a real treat for fans off both teams,” he mentioned.
On the other hand, Mohun Bagan are without the services of goalkeepers, Shilton Paul and Monotosh Ghosh and have only one fit custodian in experienced Sandip Nandy.
The Green and Maroon brigade will hope to seize three points from the tie and shall certainly rely on the goal poaching skills of their skipper Odafa Okolie. They are struggling to score goals this season and have just 18 in their tally while having conceded 20.
“Sporting are a good side. It will be a difficult game. Injuries to our goalkeepers hasn’t helped,” said coach Karim Bencherifa.
Their only victory away from home this season came against Mumbai FC back in October last year. They need a couple of wins in their bag in order to move away from the fight to avoid the drop.
