The Flaming Oranje crashed to another defeat as the Kolkata outfit earned a breather in the relegation fight.

Sporting Clube de Goa were beaten 3-1 by Mohun Bagan, courtesy of an Odafa Okolie brace (44', 79') and a goal from Christopher Chizoba (70'). Rowlin Borges pulled one back in the 78th minute for the hosts.

Oscar Bruzon's side were looking to get back to winning ways after their title credentials had received a set back following a winless start to the second half of their I-League campaign. Victorino Fernandes was injured and hence wasn't part of the squad.

Karim Bencherifa had no option but to field Sandip Nandy in goal as Shilton Paul and Monotosh Ghosh were injured.

The first chance of the game fell to Odafa Okolie in the first minute as he found himself in a wonderful position inside the box following a lofted through ball by Katsumi Yusa, but his shot failed to trouble the keeper.

The away team were at it again in the seventh minute as Christopher Chizoba spread the ball wide to Pankaj Moula who delivered a wonderfull cross to find Odafa. However, the Nigerian's header was poor.

The home team mustered their first real chance in the 10th minute as Cajetan Fernandes dribbled past Pritam Kotal and whipped in a great cross to Boima Karpeh, but his header was off the mark.

Odafa ran past the two Sporting central defenders, rounded off the keeper and with only the goal at his mercy his left footed effort was cleared off the line by a diving Gonzalo Neila.

Boima was on the receiving end of a sublime through ball in the 36th minute which was cleared by Rowilson Rodrigues for a throw-in. Nallappan Mohanraj's long throw-in perfectly found Keenan Almeida who headed it inches wide.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 44th minute and it was none other than Odafa with the opening goal. Yusa received the ball on the left and went past Almeida with a trademark step-over and put it backwards for Odafa. The Nigerian placed it to Ravi Kumar's left to put his side ahead.

Oscar Bruzon made a double change at the start of the second half as Royston D'souza and Nallappan Mohanraj made way for Beevan D'Mello and Chinta Chanrashekhar Rao respectively.

Neither team could create any clear cut chance until the 70th minute when Chizoba latched on to a brilliant ball from the left by Yusa. Chizoba made no mistake as he found the back of the net to double Bagan's lead.

Sporting finally got on the scoresheet in the 78th minute as Rowllin Borges thundered in a volley following a cross from Joseph Pereira from the left.

Bagan restored their two-goal lead almost immediately as a long ball found Odafa who took advantage of poor keeping from Ravi Kumar. The custodian mistimed his jump which gave the Bagan skipper the entire target to place his shot.

Chances died down following the third goal as the tempo slowed down. Sporting remain in fourth position and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. Mohun Bagan registered only their second away win of the season which shall aid in their battle for survival.
