Arthur Papas' side returned to winning ways after a 1-0 victory over their Goan hosts who were reduced to 10 men...

Pailan Arrows edged-past Sporting Clube de Goa by a solitary goal at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, in a round seven match of the I-League, on Friday evening.

Narayan Das sealed the victory for the All India Football Federation (AIFF) developmental side with an opportunistic second half (54') strike.

Sporting substitute Victorino Fernandes, who replaced Joseph Pereira in the 77th minute, saw a straight red for his lunge on Milan Singh in the injury time of the second half.

Ekendra Singh fielded Japanese striker Seiya Sugishita and Dawson Fernadnes in the attack, with Anoure Obiora Richard on the bench, while Keita Boubacar lined up in defense along-side Samananda Singh.

Arthur Papas' front pair consisted of Alwyn George and Holicharan Narzary, and a four-man backline containing Deepak Devrani and Shouvik Ghosh in the center with Soram Poirei Angamba in between the sticks.

The home side put down an early chance by the fourth minute when Dawson Fernandes took the ball off the feet of the away side's keeper after Shouvik Ghosh has played a back pass to Soram Angamba. Seiya Sugishita got around to the touchline on the right side, but the Sporting striker's eventual shot was blocked out by Arrows keeper.

Angamba was however required to be replaced soon after, with substitute goalkeeper Ravi Kumar immediately pulling off a regulation save to deny Sugishita from outsite the box.

Dawson Fernandes muscled his way in from the left side in the 38th minute, shrugging off Arrows defender Shouvik Ghosh, before trying to find the near post which Ravi Kumar had covered well.

There weren't any other clear cut chances created throughout the rest of the first half besides a couple of shots by Sporting's Ogba Kalu Nnanna and Dawson Fernandes parried off target .

Arrows striker Alwyn George and Sporting keeper Gerard D'Mello then collided against each other in the 49th minute, but fortunately enough nobody was seriously injured.

Alwyn George unsettled the rival defense with his movement before releasing Tirthankar Sarkar in the box, whose shot came off the Sporting keeper's palms, but D'Mello wasn't able to keep Narayan Das from scoring off the rebound in the 54th minute.

There were shouts of penalty when Deepak Devrani brought down Ogba Kalu in the 68th minute, but referee Pranjal Banerji deemed that the tackle was made just outside the penalty box. Sporting substitute Obiora shot the resultant free-kick high in the stands.

A draw could have been a good result for the Flaming Oranje who tried hard to get the ball in the opponents half in the last few minutes of the second half, but Pailan Arrows rallied on to earn the win which takes them to 11 points while Sporting sit on seven points with both the sides having played seven games.
