Cornell Glen and company will be out to bag all three points but will have to be dependent on Mohun Bagan's performance for sealing a semi-final berth.
Shillong Lajong FC will lock horns with Mumbai FC in a Group C match of the Federation Cup on Tuesday in Kochi.
After thrashing Salgaocar 4-0 in the opening encounter, the north eastern side have been handed a 0-6 humiliation by Mohun Bagan in the last match.
They have no time to ponder on the thrashing and will have to go all out against the Mumbaikars. Cornell Glen will once again be the man to watch out for the Reds he will try to reiterate his match opening performance of the first match of the competition. He has already scored two goals against them in an away fixture in the I-League.
Thangboi Singto, the coach of the Lajong side will be having a full squad at his disposal and the likes of Taisuke Matsugae and Seikhohau Tuboi will be expected to make their pace count.
Lajong’s task is cut out straight as they need to win against Mumbai FC and hope that Salgaocar FC down Mohun Bagan as well. In that case, three teams would end up with six points each rendering the head-to-head results pointless with the goal difference coming into play.
Singto’s side will have to score a minimum of five goals in order to progress.
On the other hand, Mumbai FC have had a horrible campaign in the tournament so far, having lost both their group league matches.
They were on a five match unbeaten streak in the I-League coming into the tournament, but they have failed to cope up after Haroon Amiri, the Afghanistan skipper has left the side to join Dempo. Henry Ezeh has been roped in for his second stint with the club, but he has failed to impress so far.
Mumbai FC had roped in a number of IMG-Reliance players’ midway into the season and among them N.P. Pradeep has been the most effective addition. The solitary goal netted by the team in this competition has also been scored by him and it will interesting to see how much he can contribute in the team's mission of salvaging some pride.
