Two late goals from Victorino Fernandes and Kalu Ogba helped Sporting seal all three points and move well clear of the relegation scramble...
Augustin Fernandes had given David Booth's side the lead, before Juanfri scored from the spot in the 63rd minute, with Karanjit Singh, who had given away the penalty, also being sent-off.
Sporting substitute Victorino Fernandes then scored in the 91st minute, before Kalu Ogba added another deep into injury time. The game was marred by another off the ball incident between Josimar and Joyner Lourenco, which saw both of them being sent-off.
Following a slow start to the match, it was Salgaocar who created the first goal-scoring chance of the match when Josimar met Randeep Singh's corner with an overhead volley which came off team-mate Gabriel Obatola, before Kalu cleared the ball to safety in the 15th minute.
Three minutes later, a powerful cross by Juanfri from the right, aimed towards Mackroy Peixoto in the box, was intercepted equally well by Salgaocar keeper Karanjit Singh.
The midfield battle kept on getting intense through the progression of the match but neither of the two sides were able to create a fair number of chances until Salgaocar broke the deadlock in the 38th minute.
Randeep Singh's flag-kick somehow landed at the feet of the unmarked Augustin Fernandes, who blasted home from around 10 yards, and the ball also took a deflection off the body of Kalu before entering the back of the net.
In the very next minute, it could have been 2-0. Francis Fernandes had all the space and time in the world on the left side of the box, but the midfielder sent his left-footer despairingly wide, with only the keeper to beat.

After changing ends, Randeep sent a pin-point cross for Francis Fernandes, whose shot from just outside the box however was blocked by Samananda Singh in the 47th minute.
Two minutes later, on the other side, Juanfri released Jovel Martins, whose left-footed attempt wasn't too far away from the target.
In what could have been an easy goal, Josimar had done all the spadework to deliver a goal-mouth cross to Obatola, but the latter shot wide from handshaking distance in the 53rd minute.
Booth's side was made to pay for their profligacy when Salgaocar's keeper triped Victorino in the area after the latter was played in by Kalu, which led to Karanjit Singh being sent-off apart from conceding a penalty. Juanfri duly converted from the spot in the 63rd minute.
And soon the two teams were involved in a scuffle, as Josimar and Joyner got involved in an off-the-ball incident, which saw both of them being sent-off.
Sporting, who still had a one man advantage over their rivals, then pumped forward looking for an equaliser, and Victorino, who had missed a presentable chance just a couple of minutes before, eventually found the back of the net in the 91st minute.
Stephene Barreto's cross from the right was intially headed on target by Kalu, and Rahul Kumar's goal-line clearance was picked by the Sporting substute who made no mistake as he turned home the ball.
Kalu sealed the points in the 95th minute when the Nigerian shot past Salgaocar substitute keeper Pawan Kumar to put Sporting 3-1 up after receiving a pass from Freiman Peixoto.
That proved to be the last bit of action in the game, meaning that Salgaocar continue to look nervously over their shoulder, with 20 points from 19 games so far. Sporting Clube de Goa have collected 26 points from 20 matches.
