Salgaocar FC have only themselves to blame for the situation they are in now. The Greens lie at the bottom of the I-League table and have not picked up a win since David Booth took charge of the club.
The Goan side will now face Air India at the refurbished Duler Stadium in Mapusa, Goa. They have reportedly terminated the services of striker Angel Guirado who was away for a long time with the national team at the AFC Suzuki Cup. David Booth's side will need to come up with a plan to put a plug on their slide in the league or they risk being embroiled in a relegation battle come the end of the season.
Air India, on the other hand, are just above the relegation zone and will be happy with their recent results. The Airmen have picked up 8 points from a possible 12 in the I-League that included a 4-1 thumping of local rivals Mumbai FC.
The Durand Cup champions will fancy their chances of picking up maximum points at Goa when they face Salgaocar FC who are still struggling after the departure of their Moroccan coach Karim Bencherifa. With Mohun Bagan's involvement in the league still mired by doubt after their disciplinary issues, this will be a good chance for the Airmen to leapfrog the Kolkata giants in the table and take another step towards safety.
Salgaocar FC – Luciano Sobrosa looks a doubtful starter while Francis Fernandes hasn't yet recovered from his injury.
Air India – Anthony Fernandes will not look to tinker with a team that has given the team so much momentum in the last few weeks. Prakash Thorat shall be missing yet again due to an injury while Pratik Chaudhari has failed to recover from a knock.
