Rangdajied United 1-2 Sporting Clube de Goa: The Flaming Oranje finally bag a win

Rangdajied United 1-2 Sporting Clube de Goa: The Flaming Oranje finally bag a win

SC Goa

The Goan outfit finally laid to rest their wretched form, winning away in Shillong as Rangadjied finally bowed down but Ranti Martins continued to be in the goals...

Sporting Clube de Goa managed to come away from Shillong unscathed as they secured a well deserved 2-1 victory against high flying Rangdajied United. This was Sporting's first victory in the second stint of the I-League where they had two draws and four defeats.

Rowlin Borges (27') and Cajetan Fernandes (59') scored for the away side while Ranti Martins continued his goal scoring run as he bagged a consolation for Rangdajied in the 90th minute.

Oscar Bruzon made two changes from his starting lineup that lost to East Bengal in Salt Lake. Pratesh Shirodkar and Chinta Chandrasekhar Rao were relegated to the bench and in came Rojen Singh and Velito Cruz.

Hering Shangpliang made only a solitary change from the side that beat Salgaocar in their own backyard with Kim Yong coming in for Sandesh Gadkari.

Both teams started on a pretty much even note until Rowllin Borges struck gold for the visiting Sporting Club de Goa in the 27th minute. Ogba Kalu fed the ball forward looking for Boima Karpeh even as Surjay Pariyar in the Rangajied goal came out to clear. With the keeper out of position, Borges took a precise long range shot to give his side the lead.
There was nothing much to cheer about, for the hosts in the first half and it did not get any better in the second half either. Ranti Martins who was in blistering form failed to bury a sitter in the 50th miute as he had only Melroy Fernandes to beat.

Just around 15 minutes into the second half a Mumun Lugun handball, just outside the box proved costly for the hosts. Cajetan Fernandes took full advantage of the opportunity as he curled in a free-kick in the 59th minute with Pariyar nowhere near.

Munmun was soon replaced by Lalnunpuia while David Ngaithe came in for Steven Dias who did not have a memorable outing in the first half, but nothing worked as Sporting clube de Goa held on.

Ranti Martins did however get a consolation goal in the dying minutes when he powered past the defense all by himself before effortlessly sliding in a ball past Melroy but it was too little too late.
