After a thumping 6-1 mauling of United Sikkim in the IFA Shield after a defeat against Mohun Bagan had all but sealed their progression hopes, Derrick Pereira's men would be fresh and raring to get back to the I-League.
Pune FC coach Derrick Pereira said, “We are looking at nothing less than a win. The team has shaped up well particularly after a drop in form during our campaign before the break.”
“It’s always nice to begin on a good note. A win will help us with the momentum needed in our final assault. To me this is important.”

Meanwhile Shillong Lajong have had a relatively long break of 45 days. Whether that would help them in the long run in their target of avoiding relegation or will leave them too rusty, only time will tell.
What they have managed to do in this break is to completely rehash their foreigners lineup. Barring dependable defender, Minchol Son they have released the rest of the pack. They have meanwhile roped in Sho Kamimura and Taisuke Matsugae who have already played in the I-League. Brazillian Edinho Junior has also been brought from Blackburn on loan.
With the reverse fixture last year was won by the Red Lizards, the side from Shillong will surely try to take revenge.
Pune FC: The three India Internationals, Gurjinder Singh, Arata Izumi and Jeje Lalpekhlua would all be available. Welington Rocha is an injury concern while Nikhil Kadam will not be available for selection.
Shillong Lajong FC: Lajong have a clutch of new foreigners available. Taisuke Matsugae and Sho Kamimura are available for selection while Edinho Junior has been brought on loan from Blackburn Rovers.
