Pune FC secured their best finish in the I-League as they beat Pailan Arrows to seal second place.

Pune FC clinched the second spot in I-League 2012-13 campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Pailan Arrows in a Round 26 encounter at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune on Saturday.

James Moga struck in the 39th minute and Boima “Jerry” Karpeh added to the scoreline in the 65th minute to hand Pune FC all three points.

Pune FC started brightly with Jerry fashioning an opportunity in the very first minute. However, an alert Soram Poirei was well upto the task and made the save.

Midway through the half, winger Khanthang Paite's cross from the left saw Moga connect well but his attempt hit the crossbar and his rebound was blocked by the Arrows custodian.

The hosts took the lead six minutes before the half time whistle. Left-back Gurjinder Kumar played the ball inside to Jerry who controlled well and powered through the defense before unleashing a shot. His effort was blocked but the loose ball fell conveniently to Moga who slotted it past the keeper.

The teams went into the break with the homeside holding a one goal advantage.

Following a lethargic period at the start of the second half, the hosts doubled their advantage twenty minutes in. Douhou Pierre dispossessed a defender and played in Jerry who was on a run down the left.

Having held off a defender, the striker proceeded to slide the ball past the keeper.
The visitors weren't afforded many chances as Pune's defense stood firm while Amrinder Singh pulled off a couple of good saves.

The hosts created a few chances late in the game and held on to their two-goal lead to wrap up the match.
