Referee: F. Fautrel
• Attendance: 35867
Alex 52' (own goal)
E. Cavani 24'
E. Lavezzi 73'
90' + 4'
FULL-TIME: Nantes 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain.
90' + 2'
N'Koudou finds Veretout on the edge of the box, and into the path of Cichero on the wing, but his cross is blocked by Van der Wiel. Time is ticking for the hosts.
90' + 1'
A determined Nantes side continue to advance in attack, but PSG's richly assembled defence is holding strong. They're close to securing their first win of the season, but they've laboured.
Into FOUR minutes of added time here at Stade de la Beaujoire.
Final minute of the 90, as Thiago Silva concedes yet another corner. Jordan Veretout to take, but Nantes have little time left. Headed away, as Aristeguieta fails to get it on target.
Yellow Card Gregory van der Wiel
Pancrate goes under the challenge of Van der Wiel, who is booked for his efforts. Cavani on the break after a failed free-kick, but he passes out long and wide for Ibrahimovic, who fails to keep it in.
Ibrahimvoic races past the challenge from Djilobodji, but he drags his effort wide after a great chance from the Sweden international. Still this one is not over.
Nantes power forward, fine delivery from Veretout from the corner, but flapped at by Sirigu. Into the path of Cichero, but it's surprisingly blocked from Thiago Silva. Nantes pile on the pressure.
Another free-kick after an unnecessary challenge from the Parisiens. Towards Pancrate on the edge of the area. Vizcarrando is up in the area, but fired over by Pancrate after a fine deflection from Alex.
SUBSTITUTION - PSG: Ezequiel Lavezzi is off for Adrien Rabiot. Meanwhile on the pitch, Aristeguieta's header is saved well by Sirigu.
SUBSTITUTION - NANTES: Filip Djordjevic and Serge Gakpe are off for Fabrice Pancrate - of PSG fame, having spent 5 years there. Francisco Aristeguieta is also on.
Free-kick Nantes after Verratti slams into Veretout in the middleof the area. The referee signals for a substitution, though a mishap in communication eats more time for Nantes' impatient fans.
Vizcarrondo lifts the ball over for Gakpe to give chase into the penalty box, but the Togo international fails to get there in time, with Sirigu claiming possession.
CAVANI! On the volley, after an inviting cross from the wing from Lavezzi. Saved well by Riou, but the €64million man is hurt, after a late challenge from Papy Djilobodji.
Lavezzi has really come alive since the introduction of Lucas Moura. He races down the left wing, with Cavani to support him. The pass evades Cavani, but falls to Lucas, but the winger fires over the bar.
Unlucky for the promoted side, but Lavezzi has got his first goal of the season. Laurent Blanc allows himself a little smile on the touchline.
Goal Ezequiel Lavezzi
GOAL! Nantes 1-2 PSG - LAVEZZI!! Unlucky from the hosts there. Lucas bears down on goal, cleared off the line by Gakpe, and again cleared off the line from Cavani. Finally, Lavezzi powers into the net.
Lavezzi's corner is headed away by Serbian striker Filip Djordjevic, who despite expected tonight to lead the line, has rather become more efficient, dropping deeper to frustrate the visitors.
SUBSTITUTION - PSG: Marco Verratti comes on for Thiago Motta.
CHANCE FOR PSG! Better from Van der Wiel, who gets down the edge of the area well, and fires a low cross centrally for Ibrahimovic. But the Swede's touch helps the ball over the bar instead.
Important that Nantes bag as many points as they can. Their matchday one win over Bastia is being investigated after complaints over a suspended player. If they lose this game, they could suffer a 3 point deduction, which would send them from 8th to bototm.
Gakpe with an ambitious effort on the edge of the area, but it slams into Matuidi. Nantes doing more to close the visitors down. Really getting stuck into the likes of Ibrahimovic tonight.
PSG started the 2012-13 season with three draws from three. As it stands, they're on track to emulating that. Play goes on as Matuidi is upended by Gakpe meanwhile. Fautrel looking to maintain momentum as best he can.
SUBSTITUTION - PSG: Lucas Moura comes on for Javier Pastore. Another disappointing night from him.
LAVEZZI! Breezes past Vizcarrondo on the wing, as he fires towards the near post. Beaten away by Remy Riou and it's out for a corner. Referee ticks off Vizcarrondo.
Motta takes the free-kick quickly, as he sets through Cavani on the edge of the area. The Uruguayan with a rather unfair push on Veigneau, but he fails to keep the ball in play. 28 minutes left.
Cichero is involving himself a lot more down the flank, as his heightened cross is headed away in the area soon after Cavani was dispossessed on the edge of the area.
Alejandro Bedoya is having a stormer in the last few minutes. Stunning stuff. Seconds after being denied, he denies Matuidi from scoring, clearing away a low cross into the area.
SIRIGU!! WHAT A SAVE FROM BEDOYA! Stunning cross from Djordjevic, and Bedoya produces a scintillating header towards the top corner, and he's tipped it over the bar! Point taken, Salva. Point taken.
Third goal that PSG have conceded in Ligue 1 this season. Sirigu has really been rather average this season, compared to his run of clean sheets last year. Again, Thiago Silva concedes a free-kick under the challenge of Bessat.
PSG love making life difficult for themselves. Gakpe attempts to latch onto a speculative cross from the left, but dealt with in the end. Alex in a poor position on that note, failing to deal with the threat in the box.
Nantes a little jittery from the goal,as they give away their own corner for PSG to try and take a lead here. It's headed away by Vizcarrondo. They eventually get a free-kick after Motta's cross leads to a foul in the area.
Own Goal Alex
GOAL! Nantes 1-1 PSG - Alex with the own goal after a fabulous header from Djilobodji. Veretout's free-kick finds the defender, who powerfully heads against the Brazilian, and the result is an own goal. The Beaujoire is rocking.
Cichero picks up the loose ball but he is bodychecked by Van der Wiel. He gives away a free-kick in a good area, but the Beaujoire faithful are up in arms over the challenge.
Salvatore Sirigu is furious that he wasn't offered protection from the corner, which he missed. Referee Fredy Faurel calms him down, but temperatures rising slightly.
Bedoya races down the right, aiming to deliver the ball into the danger zone. Wonderfully charged down by Thiago Silva, but the Selecao captain cannot stop a corner.
Thiago Motta goes to ground under a heavy challenge from Lucas Deaux, who has been a bit sloppy in the middle of the park so far.
For all of the criticism that has marred his time at PSG so far, Gregory van der Wiel has arguably enjoyed his finest 45 minutes so far for the champions. Two really really good challenges.
After a bit of Macklemore to boost the crowd, the second half begins! PSG attack from left to right. Can they add to their lead?
HALF-TIME: PSG lead 1-0 at the Beaujoire. Nantes have really come out in the last few minutes, and were unlucky not to have equalised after finally besting a solid PSG defence. But it's Edinson Cavani's goal that settles the two sides at the break.
45' + 1'
HALF-TIME: Nantes 0-1 Paris Saint-Germain.
ONE minute added on at the end of the first half.
CICHERO!! My word, how have Nantes not equalised here? Stunning move, as the ball finds the right-back, whose header is parried by Sirigu, and the rebound towards Gakpe is brilliantly intercepted by Van der Wiel.
BESSAT! WHAT A CHANCE FOR NANTES! Lovely ball into the box, the PSG defence is absolutely nowhere as Bessat breaks free, but the ball lands over the top of the net.
Veigneau feeds Gakpe in deep, but PSG close them down well, as Maxwell intervenes well, but fails to keep the ball in play. Frustrating.
BEDOYA! Wonderful attacking movement from Nantes. Superb flowing move involving Bessat and Gakpe, who started the move on the right hand side. Great one-two towards Bedoya, but his shot is brilliantly charged down by Van der Wiel and into the arms of Sirigu.
Little dummy from Ibrahimovic as he attempts to find Edinson Cavani. The makings of a beautiful partnership it seems, but it's cut out at the end from the defender. Still, a wonderful rabona there!
Corner for PSG here as the delivery is perfect, but Cavani and co. unable to make it materialise into something serious. Cleared by Bessat, but Nantes can't really progress further than their own half.
Woeful. Absolutely woeful delivery from the left by Vincent Bessat. Too high, well over the heads of the gaggle of players in the box. Out for a goal-kick.
CHANCE FOR NANTES! Again, they're utilising that left flank on the ar side, as a low cross is cleared away by Alex over his own bar. Corner for Nantes.
Yellow Card Alejandro Bedoya
Veretout gets down well on the right hand side, but his speculative cross is cut out well. Salvatore Sirigu booed heavily for taking his time with a free-kick.
YELLOW CARD - Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes) - The American midfielder is booked after taking down Edinson Cavani with a cynical foul. Cavani had actually dispossessed the USA international.
PSG once more venturing forward with ease, but not committing too many forward. Alex with another ball forward towards Ibrahimovic, but Riou gets there in time to claim possession.
Bessat progresses forward, having been threaded a neat ball by Jordan Veretout. Matuidi, as powerful as he is, dispossesses the midfielder with ease, nonetheless.
Referee Fredy Fautrel just gets briefly in the way of a promising PSG move, but Nantes cut out another attacking endeavour from Ibrahimovic. Djilobodji the man to get the ball away.
Better from Nantes here. Gakpe bursts forward on the left wing but sees a shot blocked by the PSG defence. Move has got the Beaujoire rocking (it doesn't take much!)
Nantes have really failed to offer anything up in attack, with Veigneau and Vizcarrondo rather suspect at the back so far. Just simply not tracking the runs.
NANTES 0-1 PSG: That was the first time that PSG have taken the lead in the 2013-14 season. Rightly deserved, and it's a great move from Ibrahimovic to assist Cavani to open the scoring.
Assist Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Goal Edinson Cavani
GOAAAL!! NANTES 0-1 PSG - superb goal by EDINSON CAVANI! Ibrahimovic picks up the ball, lands a fantastic through ball towards Cavani, behind Vizcarrondo, and the Uruguayan slips it under Riou.
CAVANI! Comfortably wide. It looked as if the chance had gone as Bedoya challenged Ibra for the loose ball. Falls invitingly for Cavani, but he lashes wide by some distance.
Cavani wins a free-kick under a harsh challenge from Veigneau, who catches him coming off the wing. He's been rather erratic in the tackles this evening.
PSG have won six of the last eight of the meetings between these two great French sides. Last time they faced each other, Nantes lost 1-4 in February 2009.
France U20 World Cup champion Jordan Veretout sees a pass cut out, as Lavezzi progresses down the wing. Towards Cavani, it's cut out by Vizcarrondo.
Brief stop in play as Filip Djordjevic goes down under the challenge from Maxwell. Clutching his shoulder, with an elbow probably going in there from the Brazilian. He's up and ready to continue though.
Veigneau sees a long-range effort fly harmlessly over the top of Salvatore Sirigu's goal. Did you know? Nantes have eight Ligue 1 titles to PSG's three.
PSG assering their authority in this match in the opening exchanges. Cavani ruled offside, but the ball over the top from Motta again inch-perfect. The hosts really do need to work on that aspect.
Nantes attack the other end briefly, but Filip Djordjevic is ruled offside - the striker ran just a little bit too early, as Bessat's pass seconds later is cut out by Matuidi.
Nantes having a bit of trouble in dealing with the long balls forward. This time, it's latched on by Cavani, who sees Ibrahimovic on the other side. However, his early cross lands on top of the net.
OFFSIDE! Vizcarrondo fails to track the run of Ibrahimovic, but luckily, the offside call saves him after a long pass from Alex. Replays suggest the referee got it WRONG.
Lovely free-kick delivered in, deflected off Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and saved well by Salvatore Sirigu. First action he's enjoyed since the ninth minute of last week's encounter since Ajaccio!
Free-kick to Nantes after van der Wiel lunges in late on Bessat. Crunching challenge, from the Dutchman. The set-piece is 40 metres out. Can they make it count?
Thiago Motta the focal point in midfield, again with the long ball over the top which catches out the hosts. Ibrahimovic gives chase, but attempts a half-volley, which is easily saved by Riou. Had Cavani on the right hand side available too.
13 shots from the Sweden international, and still no Ligue 1 goal this season so far. Denied again!
IBRAHIMOVIC! What a fantastic save by Remy Riou. Thiago Motta is able to ping a brilliant ball into the area, with Ibrahimovic in acres of space. Brings the ball down expertly, but hiss hot is parried away by Riou!
Sloppy once more from les Parisiens as the ball is casually being passed about between Alex, and Matuidi allowing Gakpe and Bedoya to close down.
Poor from Maxwell, whose pass is far too short and cut out by Serge Gakpe. Nantes bring the ball forward in attack, flicked on by Alejandro Bedoya, but Thiago Silva cuts out the ball.
Forward from Thiago Silva, as Cavani gives chase on the far side. Bit too long for the Uruguayan to get there in time, as Veigneau starts play from the throw-in.
Good cross from the left as Nantes progress, with a speculative cross held down by Salvatore Sirigu. Meanwhile, Lavezzi is fouled by Djilobodji.
KICK-OFF! Underway in France, as Nantes in their distinct yellow outfit, attacking from left to right. It's a sell out!
The sides are out to much fanfare at the Beaujoire. Kick-off moments away, but first a minute's silence.
Today's referee is Fredy Fautrel - the man who oversaw PSG's stunning 1-2 defeat to nine-man Rennes last November.
TEAM NEWS: Matuidi recovers from a horrible head collision with Joshua Naideau of Ajaccio last week to start alongside Thiago Motta, as Marco Verratti - who signed a new contract last week, continues on the bench. As does Marquinhos, but Gregory van der Wiel and Ezequiel Lavezzi come in for Lucas Moura and Christophe Jallet. For Nantes, Alejandro Bedoya leads the line alongside Lyon target Filip Djordjevic.
STAT: PSG last faced Nantes in Ligue 1 in 2009, with Mamadou Sakho the only player that survives from that 4-1 victory. He doesn't even feature tonight.
SUBS : Zelazny, Cissokho, Touré, Nkoudou, Trebel, Pancrate, Aristeguieta.
FC NANTES XI: Riou - Veigneau (c), Djilobodji, Vizcarrondo, Cichero - Bessat, Deaux, Veretout, Gakpe - Djordjevic, Bedoya.
SUBS: Douchez, Marquinhos, Digne, Verratti, Rabiot, Lucas, Ongenda.
PSG XI: Sirigu - Van der Wiel, Alex, Thiago Silva (c), Maxwell - Lavezzi, Thiago Motta, Matuidi, Pastore - Ibrahimovic, Cavani.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
Defeat, or failure to win tonight puts Laurent Blanc in an immediate crisis it would imagine. Traditionally slow starters, the capital club face dropping into the relegation zone, and a possibly seven point gap with Marseille already in Ligue 1.
Elsewhere in Ligue 1 - Marseille lead the way this weekend with three wins from three, as Andre-Pierre Gignac, in front of Newcastle, West Brom scouts fired L'OM to the top. Monaco drew with Toulouse in an empty Stade Louis II, whilst Lyon's torrid week was capped off in a rain-affected 1-0 defeat to Stade de Reims.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Former PSG captains Mamadou Sakho and Christophe Jallet have both been dropped from the matchday squad. A stunning decision from Laurent Blanc.
FC Nantes meanwhile, have enjoyed a solid start to their first year back in Ligue 1 for four years. The Canaries suffered defeat to Lorient last weekend, despite a stunning Veigneau goal - but the 2-0 win over Bastia on matchday one sees them in mid-table. That could be rectified however, as a glaring admin error saw an ineligible player fielded. If found guilty, they will be deducted three points.
PSG mustered an eyebrow raising 39 shots, 16 of which were on target, and a huge 79% possession count but they were denied by an Ajaccio side who mustered just one shot, one goal, and came away with one point. Edinson Cavani might've opened his account, but Ochoa was the hero, as PSG suffered one of those nights.
"Jesus Christ can't intervene every weekend!" was the impressive soundbite from Nantes boss Michel der Zakarian in the pre-match press conference. He was referring to the amazing match that unfolded in the Parc des Princes when PSG were stunningly held to a 1-1 draw with AC Ajaccio when Guillermo Ochoa was in fine form to deny the champions.
I'm Mohammed Ali, and I'm here once again to bring you all the coverage from France, as we gear up towards tonight's intriguing clash. Don't forget to get involved with the Goal.com match centre, leave your comments and predictions and lose yourself in the debate.
Good evening and welcome to Goal's live text commentary from the 2013-14 Ligue 1 season! Tonight sees champions Paris Saint-Germain visit the beautiful Stade de la Beaujoire as they take on new boys FC Nantes. They cannot afford to slip up again.
