Mumbai FC's impressive unbeaten run came to a grinding halt as they were beaten 4-1 by their local rivals Air India in Round 10 of the I-League. That defeat served as a reality check for Khalid Jamil's side who picked up 13 points out of a possible 15 until they played the Airmen.
The Mumbaikars have the perfect opportunity to get back to the winning bandwagon when they face North-Eastern side United Sikkim at Pune. Khalid Jamil looks to set to ring in the changes after some defensive lapses against Air India cost his team the game.
Mumbai FC are presently a point above Mohun Bagan on the table
United Sikkim FC will seek to give their new manager Nathan Hall his perfect welcome present when they travel to Pune to face Mumbai FC. The North-Eastern side were involved in yet another draw in the inaugural North-East Derby against Shillong Lajong FC. Hall takes over from player-manager Bhaichung Bhutia who missed the derby due to personal reasons.
Happy Birthday, Bhutia!
The 27-year old Australian will find his counterpart Khalid Jamil as someone who can relate to being in charge of an I-League club at a very young age.
It would be interesting to see what changes Hall makes to the side that shared the spoils against Shillong Lajong. The North-Eastern side have been involved in two goalless draws in as many games.
But their previous visits to Maharashtra has seen them score five goals, something that Khalid Jamil will be wary of. In addition the Sikkimese side have not won since their opening day win over Salgaocar FC.
Mumbai FC – Khalid Jamil indicated that there might be changes to the defence after last week's defeat to Air India. Haroon Amiri is likely to retain his place in the side. Abhishek Yadav might get a look-in after impressing in a substitute's role whenever he has come on.
United Sikkim FC – Nathan Hall can welcome back Bhaichung Bhutia after the striker was absent for the North-East Derby owing to the sad demise of his father. Hall might just draft the veteran into his playing XI as he looks for his first point (s) in charge of his new club.
