Yellow CardChristopher Chizoba
90' + 3'
Only moments to go now. What a win by Mohun Bagan!
90' + 2'
And the players are involved in a verbal spat that led to scuffles. Who all are going to be carded?
GoalOdafa Onyeka Okolie
GOAALL! ODAFA OKOLIE ON FIRE! He is back! Under tremendous pressure from the Pune defense, he held all of them on his shoulder, and calmly placed the ball into the net. A typical striker's goal and Karim is a happy man.
CHANCE! Haokip took advantage of a horrible slip-up by the Bagan defense but chose to pass it to Riga and Iche clears it.
Pune FC's move was spolied by an offside here. A few tense moments for the Bagan defense.
OH ODAFA! CHANCE! His kick made Amrinder a spectator and came off the cross bar. What a shot by the Nigerian.
Yellow CardMumtaz Akhtar
Yellow CardDouhou Pierre
Yellow CardKatsumi Yusa
Mohun Bagan need to hold on their lead in these vital moments to take home all three points. They now claim a corner just outside the box, and Odafa steps up to take it.
AND PUNE PULL ONE BACK HERE! After Calum Angus took a powerful shot, that came back rattling the post, Haokip slotted the ball home. He was unmarked and took full advantage of the situation.
SAVE! SHILTON! Mustapha will find himself unlucky here. He came out of his line in time to parry away the danger. What a show by the Bagan goalie.
GOAALLL!!RAM GETS THE REWARD. Amrinder Singh failed to clear the ball and the went between the legs of the onrushing goalkeeper. However, Ram beats Anas by pace and places the ball calmly into the net. This is a different Mohun Bagan.
Katsumi goes down once again under slight pressure.
All three substitutions have been taken by Mike Snoei. Can his side stage a comeback now?
OH ODAFA OKOLIE! OH ODAFA OKOLIE! After taing advantage of a goof-up of Pune defense, Odafa took an hour to take the shot. In the end, the ball came out of a Pune defense, but Ram's shot on the rebound was also blocked. That trick from Odafa is acceptable only if they give extra points for dribbling past the custodian.
And Shaiju is taken off and Pankaj Moula comes as the replacement.
Pune had free-kick in the middle of the pitch, but Haokip's header was wide Now, Shaiju is down and seeks medical attention.
Shaiju Mon went for a good run down the left, but he blindly plays the ball to Christopher, who was a mile away from it. Bad show from the former Pailan player.
Nothing comes out from the corner after a horrible flag-kick by Denson. Pune in desperate need of an equaliser here.
RAM MALIK IS THE STAR HERE! After Riga's shot on the other end, he put another brilliant ball to Odafa, but Anas reaches the ball first and Bagan have a corner here.
probably for the second time this season, Mohun Bagan are playing as per their ability. What a team game by them.
HOW DID HE MISS THAT! Shilton Paul made a diving save to a Mustapha Riga shot, but James Meyer misses a sitter on the rebound. That was the easiest chance of the day, by far.
Karim makes his first change and Shaiju Mon, the former player of Pailan Arrows comes in place of Sabeeth.
C S Sabeeth
SAVE! GOAL LINE SAVE! Sabeeth saves Bagan's day here. He was alert on the goal and saves a brilliant header by Calum Angus.
CHANCE! RAM ONCE AGAIN! GURJINDER THE VICTIM! His with the ball is probably more than that of Gurjinder without the ball, but his delivery was not met by any of his teammates.
Katsumi lost the ball near his box under no pressure, but Pune fail to encash it. Rather Bagan pull off another effort, with Ram Malik being the master of the right, but after his brilliant play, Christopher couldn't take shot despite taking too much time.
GOOD INTENT SHOWN! ODAFA AGAIN! After claiming possession in the midfield, he was fed with the ball near the penalty box, but he failed to take a shot after he was marked heavily.
And we are off here in the high-voltage Clash. This is Atanu Mitra keeping you updated.
The players are coming on to the field now. Arata Izumi is off and Haokip takes his place in the Pune line-up.
We take a short break here but promise to come back before the action resumes. Stay tuned to Goal. Stay tuned to football.
Whatever be the scoreline at the end of the match, you must give the credit to Karim Bencherifa for moulding the talent of Ram Malik. This winger is a treat to watch.
Half time scoreline: Mohun Bagan 1-0 Pune FC. An inspired display by the Mariners earned them the goal, but Pune also had their chances.
One minute of added time, but no more action worth mentioning.
Yellow CardDenson Devadas
Pune FC are dealing in corners here. Another corner, but to no avail. On the other end, Bagan's move stopped by the offside flag of the linesman.
CHANCE! ODAFA! The King Kobra looks to be back. He goes past a couple of Pune bodies and makes space for himself to take a shot but the effort went inches above the target.
Mohun Bagan has been the better of the sides of late and Rowilson has been the star of the show for their defense. It's not an easy task to keep an ex-Levante striker at bay.
Another try to attack on the counter from the runners-up of last I-League but Riga concedes an unnecessary foul to stop the move.
Both the teams have worked really well to claim the domination of the midfield, but it's been an even encounter till now. Bagan however, will try to retain their hard-earned lead.
Katsumi has not lived up to the expectation today. Once again he takes too much time to play the ball and a move dies in the bud.
Odafa on fire! Another brilliant chipped ball for Christopher now, but he spoils the move by taking too much time. He howeverhad enough prudence to play the ball back of Odafa, but his shot from distance went straight into the hands of Amrinder.
GoalOdafa Onyeka Okolie
GOAAALLLL! ODAFA! After Arata failed to clear a ball from the second corner, Sabeeth played a brilliant pass to Christopher, who goes forward and places it for Odafa, who had the entire breadth of the net in front of him. Mohun Bagan goes ahead in Barasat.
Pune claim a string of four corners but nothing comes out of it. Bagab, now have claimed a couple of corners as well.
CHANCE! ODAFA! After Arata conceded a foul just outside the Pune penalty box, Odafa took a brilliant free-kick. However, the shot went just above the post, throwing no challenge to Shilton Paul. That looked great from the stands.
Yellow CardArata Izumi
CHANCE! Pune FC play a few confident passes in the Bagan area and Riga sets the ball up for Douhou who unleashes a powerful effort from the edge of the box. However, his effort was wide and no harm done for the home side.
Arata also looking very sharp while going forward. Gurjinder Kumar overlapping well from the left and his partnership with Anthony earns a corner for his side.
Over the last few minutes, Mohun Bagan has lost the domination on the midfield. Add to that the blistering pace of Pune counter attacks and it looks dangerous for the home team.
CHANCE! Arata uses a goof-up by the Bagan defense and invades the Bagan box unmarked, but his left footer from an acute angle was not on target and Karim's men heave a sigh of relief.
After Douhou cleared a bad delivery by Sabeeth in the box, Christopher and Odafa pair well to claim a corner, but that was safely gathered by Amrinder between the sticks.
CHANCE! RIGA! The Dutch striker had the ball in a brilliant position but his procrastination takes its toll and he was narroed down by Iche. On the counter, Ram once again goes on for a daunting run and claims a free-kick on the right end of the box.
Yellow CardRowilson Rodrigues
Rowilson became the first man to be booked following the tackle, but the Pune FC free-kick was also very wide.
Nothing comes out from the free-kick as the shot from Odafa flies very wide. Pune on the break look daring and after a couple of throw-ins, they also have a free-kick from a similar postion on the other end of the pitch.
After Pune lost the ball under slight pressure, Pritam and Cristopher exchange passes while going forward. Christopher tries to change wings but Sabeeth was unready. However, the move is not spoiled and Bagan claim a free-kick from a real dangerous position.
This is a real fast start to an I-League game. Bagan dominant, but Douhou has also showed glimpses of his skill.
WHAT A SHOW BY RAM! Dribbles Anas on his will and does a couple of roll-overs before passing it to Pritam. But the cross from the side-back goes unattended and Mohun Bagan concede a silly foul.
A bit of skill of Odafa, but he gets crowded and Pune have the ball. They were on fast on the break, but a tame free-kick parries the danger.
Brilliant start from the home side. Three one-touch passes and Pritam and Ram links up well on the right. However, Ram is brought down and Mohun Bagan have a free-kick.
As Umesh Bora blows the whistle, Odafa and Christopher play a pass between them and we are off!
The players are coming out the tunnel. This is turning out to be a brilliant evening in Barasat. Chirag Tanna is also present in the press-box.
This is Atanu Mitra and I will be taking you through the action for the next 90 minutes. Good attendance and the crowd welcomes Karim with a huge roar.
Pune FC first XI: Amrinder, Othallo Tabia, Calum Angus, Gurjinder, Riga, Arata, Meyer, Douhou, Anas, Anthony D'souza, Larempuia.
Starting XI for Bagan: Shilton, Shouvik, Ichezona, Rowilson, Pritam, Denson, Katsumi, Ram, Sabeeth, Christopher, Odafa.
This will be a big test for Mohun Bagan as organizers as well. Remember the distance between the stands and the turf is only a few yards.
Arata Izumi is back from a suspension and comes back to first team action straightaway. Manish Bhargav is unavailable and C.S. Sabeeth, the goalscorer of the last match starts in his place. Rowilson will pair up with Izhezona in the defense.
I assume the chairs in the press box were manufactured before laptops were invented. However, the power is doing well and that’s the biggest relief.
According to strong rumours, if Mohun Bagan loses out today, Karim Bencherifa will be handed the pink slip. Will the Green and Maroon squad pull off the kind of performance they need to save the coach’s job? Or will Mike Snoei and his men earn their third consecutive victory on Kolkata’s soil?
Hello and welcome to Goal’s live coverage of the I-League as Mohun Bagan hosts Pune FC today in the Vidyasagar Krirangan in Barasat.
