Mohammedan Sporting - Mumbai FC Preview: Two teams with identical form clash at the Salt Lake

Mohammedan set for a tough match

UNITED SC

Khalid Jamil's men come out of their den after five consecutive home matches, that saw them bag only two points...

Mohammedan Sporting will play Mumbai FC in the Salt Lake Stadium in round nine I-League match, as both the teams look forward to end their dry run in this edition of the league.

Both the teams have seven points in their account, with Mumbai FC having played a game more, and a win in Wednesday's game will allown them enough breathing space as the leaue goes into a two week break.

The Kolkata outfit have bagged four points in their last three games. Josimar da Silva has been in sublime form for side though Tolgay Ozbey is yet to hit his best. Penn Orji will be another figure to look out for as the midfield lynchpin won two consecutive man of the match awards against United Sports and Sporting Clube de Goa recently.

"Every game is a new challenge. We will try to secure three points," stated the Black and Whites' coach Bola Masood.

Mohammedan has signed five players from the IMG-Reliance player pool and among them Ishfaq Ahmed once again looks set for another start while Manish Maithani and Luis Barreto will make it to the bench.

Mumbai FC has suffered a dismal start to the season. Even though they had the advantage of playing seven of their opening right fixtures at home, quite surprisingly they bagged their only victory of this edition in the lone away game of the campaign.

They will be without the services of Ashutosh Mehta who was sent-off in the last game and Dane Pereira looks set to replace him. Subhash Chakraborty has a shoulder problem and will miss the tie. John Coutinho and Valeriano Rebello continue to remain absent as they are recovering from their injuries.

Haroon Amiri returns to the squad after serving a two-match suspension and will partner Anwar Ali at the heart of the defense.

"The Afghans haven’t yet settled in as it takes time. But they are all good players and have a hunger to play, which is more than enough," said Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil.
