FT: Milan 2-1 Siena: Well it was hardly a vintage display by the Rossoneri but goals from Bojan and Pazzini from the penalty spot has given the hosts an important three points. Paolucci got a consolation for the visitors but in the end it wasn't enough and the Tuscans remain bottom of Serie A with relegation staring them in the face. Milan continue the chase for Europe with this victory and will be hoping to close the gap on Roma who play Napoli later this evening. That's it folks! I'm Craig Turnbull and I hope you enjoyed this afternoon's coverage.
AssistMariano de Almeida Angelo
GOOOOAALLL!! WELL THIS MATCH AIN'T OVER YET. Paolucci gives Siena a lifeline with a perfectly timed header into the corner of the net from an Angelo cross.
Chance for Milan to make it three! Abate got forward and into the danger area he tried to find El Shaarawy who's shot was blocked before the ball came out to Ambrosini who hit a rasping effort wide of the goal.
Vergassola is booked for complaining after the penalty was given in truth Pazzini did go down quite easily but on reflection on this second-half performance, Milan thoroughly deserve their victory.
Yellow CardSimone Vergassola
Penalty GoalGiampaolo Pazzini
GOAAAALLLLL!!! PAZZINI CONVERTS THE PENALTY. The striker emphatically dispatched the ball into the top corner away from Pegolo and that surely seals the victory for the hosts this afternoon.
PENALTY FOR MILAN!!! THE ROSSONERI HAVE A SPOT KICK. Pazzini tangled with Felipe after a lovely ball in from Bojan. A soft decision but the hosts will not care!
Bojan has clearly been lifted by his goal and young Spaniard attempts an speculative effort from about 25-yards out. The attacker does not connect properly with the effort and his scuffed shot ruffles the side netting.
Yellow CardGiampaolo Pazzini
Well a little bit of afters there. Pazzini is perfectly entitled to go for the ball there as Pegolo comes out to block the striker's effort. He's offside but catches the keeper. Felipe does not take too kindly and sticks his head into Pazzini. Referee misses this, Pazzini booked which means he'll miss Milan's next match against Sampdoria. Felipe not booked for reaction.
Yellow CardCristiano Del Grosso
More good play from Milan who have really woken up from that scare by Rosina earlier in the second half. Bojan attempts to feed a pass through to Pazzini, his effort is blocked instead he finds Antonini but his cross was too heavy and goes out for a goal kick.
GOL GOL GOL FOR MILAN!!! The Rossoneri take the lead through the substitute Bojan!! Great ball in from Kevin-Prince Boateng who has found his radar in this second half with some lovely crosses. This time it pays off and Bojan nods the hosts into the lead!
More Milan fans frustrated by the scoreline so far: JannahMyReality @yomex316 @CTTurnbull I don't like when we play like we don't have talents, what can ambro do when a growing strasser & emmanuelson alive, They're certainly piling on the pressure but so far cannot find that elusive goal.
OOOHH THE BALL WILL JUST NOT GO IN FOR MILAN! Again it was Boateng who played a delightful ball right in between the defence and the goalkeeper in the six yard box. Pazzini was inches away from it and then you thought Bojan was going to connect with the ball at the back post, perhaps put off by Pazzini but the substitute can't put the hosts ahead.
OOOOH WHAT A CHANCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN 1-0 MILAN! Great play down the right hand side, Boateng put in a superb ball across. El Shaarawy came to meet the cross at the back post and the goal was at his mercy!! You'd have expected him to bury that chance!! The ball was coming at him at a fair rate of noughts but really he should have found the net, instead his header drifts wide!
Chance for Siena!! Well what a save by Abbiati! Rosina looked to be bearing down on goal but the keeper has pullled out a tremendous block thwart the attacker. A real scare for Milan there!
Mobolaji ibiwoye @M_BEEJAY007 has got in contact @ctturnbull the spark is realy absent in this game, bojan should be brought in for pazzini
Boateng again surges forward skips past a couple of players before lofting the ball into the box but it's too high and goes out of play, really poor delivery and Milan are about to make a couple of changes!
Boateng hits another speculative shot from about 30 yards but cannons straight into the defence while Constant attenpts to push the Rossoneri forward with a couple of crosses into the box but again cleared away from danger.
Great counter from Milan! Boateng fed El Shaarawy out wide on the left he clipped a ball into the far post but again Pazzini couldn't get on the end of the cross and the ball goes harmlessly wide.
Yellow CardMassimo Ambrosini
Ambrosini is booked for a clumsy challenge on Vergassola in the middle of the park.
Emeka Ekeh @EmekaEkeh4 @CTTurnbull very poor performance.acerbi nd ambro r slower dan evolution.pazzini is clueless
We're underway in the second half here's what a disgruntled Milan fan thought at half-time. Mohammed Almarwani @MrBo7amed @ctturnbull Take off Nocerino for Bojan. Change Boateng to CM and play Bojan at RW
Milan 0-0 Siena: El Shaarawy has had the two best chances of the game but to be honest, the Rossoneri have been poor so far and will need a much better performance in the second. Remember you can get in contact with us at half-time and see your name in lights! What have you made of the Rossoneri display so far? Can Siena cause an upset? Contact me on @CTTurnbull
One minute of stoppage time to be played at the end of the 45
Boateng dispossessed by Vergassola as another Milan attack breaks down. Siena move the ball away with D'Agostino who calms the play down but it looks as though the first half will be scoreless.
Ambrosini attempts a Zlatan Ibrahimovic acrobatic effort but unlike the Swede's where it nestled into the back of net, Ambrosini finds the back of the stand. Just goes to show you that not everyone can do it and the midfielder's effort was from inside the box too.
Well it keeps breaking down for Milan in the final third. First Montolivo is guilty of giving away possession at the crucial moment with a slack pass. Minutes later Boateng surges forward and with his head up slides in El Shaarawy, the striker is looking for Pazzini and attempts to thread a delicate ball into this path but the danger is cut out again.
Milan desperate to find a way through their stubborn opponents before the interval but so far to no avail. Pazzini has struggled to get involved while El Shaarawy has come close on a couple of occasions but nothing has got past Pegolo yet.
OOOOHH EL SHAARAWY!! Well the best chances are coming through the 20-year-old and it was great play by the striker to create the opportunity all by himself. He evaded the Siena defence before engineering space to have a shot from the edge of the box which he fires narrowly wide of the post.
Yellow CardMariano de Almeida Angelo
Remember you can get in contact with us by tweeting to @CTTurnbull. The best comments will be, as usual, posted at half-time. What have you made of Milan's performance so far are they suffering from the winter break? Siena have matched the Rossoneri, are they capable of springing an upset like they did to Inter earlier on in the season?
Just approaching the half hour mark and El Shaarawy's chance on 13 minutes has been the best opportunity either side has created so far. Some disgruntled jeers from the home support they're frustrated by what they have seen from their team in the first 30.
Another half chance for Milan! Pazzini is again the target man the ball is sent deep into the area, the striker attempts to win the ball in the air but the Siena defence do enough to put the attacker off.
Lovely ball from El Shaarawy. As usual he peels away down the left-hand side and puts in a fantastic delivery with the outside of his foot which only misses Pazzini by inches in the box!
Siena create another counter attack this time through Bogdani, it was a great first touch by the Azerbajani forward but his final ball looking for Rossina wasn't accurate enough and the Rossoneri defence mop up the danger.
A good bit of pressure this from Siena as they force a flurry of corners in a couple of minutes. Abbiati has been a commanding presence so far and anything which comes into his six yard box has been his.
Well Acerbi fouls Rosina neat the halfway line and gives the visitors the opportunity to create an attack of their own. A free-kick which looks to be something off the training ground as two Siena players stand 10 yards offside to run back on, fails to worry the hosts as the ball is far too deep and easy for Abbiati.
EL SHAARAWY OH SO CLOSE! The 20-year-old picked up the ball midway into the Siena half and from that moment on, there was only one thing in his mind, to drive forward and get a shot on target. His tantalising run almost gave the Rossoneri the lead but as he cut inside to clip the ball over Pegolo, the shot-stopper got enough of his body infront of the ball to deny the striker. Best chance of the match so far!
Oooooh great chance for Milan there! Ambrosini whipped in a dangerous ball into the box, Pazzini looked favourite to get onto the end of the curling effort but his outstretched boot couldn't divert the ball towards goal. Danger signs for Siena.
Both teams yet to really settle into any sort of rhythm as of yet. Siena are keen to let their opponents know that they are in for a game with some niggly fouls around the pitch which has stemmed the flow of the match so far.
D'Agostino fouls Boateng in the final third which gives the Rossoneri the chance to throw numbers forward and deliver a dangerous ball into the area. But the delivery is poor.
An early chance for Milan as Constant's mishit cross suddenly causes problems for goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo, who tips the ball over the bar. Milan win the first corner of the match but can't make anything of the opportunity.
And the match is underway at San Siro ...
Well it's all kicking off here in the final minute, Neto goes in the booking. Reginaldo clipped Ambrosini who went down softly and Neto didn't take too kindly to the fall which causes four or five other players to get involved. Eventually the ref managed to calm things down. Three minutes to be added on here!
Well the teams are out onto the pitch and the match is about to get underway. Milan really couldn't have hoped for a better fixture to be coming back after the break as their last seven matches against Siena have been flawless having not dropped a single point against the Tuscans.
SIENA: Pegolo; Neto, Paci, Felipe; Angelo, Valiani, D'Agostino, Vergassola, Del Grosso; Rosina; Bogdani Siena are minus their top goalscorer Emanuele Calaio so Erjon Bogdani gets a starting berth for the Tuscans.
MILAN: Abbiati; Abate, De Sciglio, Acerbi, Constant; Montolivo, Ambrosini, Nocerino; Boateng, Pazzini, El Shaarawy Massimiliano Allegri has had a defensive headache in the build-up to this game with Philippe Mexes suspended, and Daniele Bonera and Mario Yepes both unavailable. Mattio De Sciglio switches to centre-back alongside Francesco Acerbi. Life begins without Alexandre Pato for the hosts but it's the usual three of recent that gets the nod upfront.
Milan will be hoping they can bounce back from their 4-2 defeat to Roma before the break. The Rossoneri before that match had won four straight matches including a win against the champions Juventus. Siena, meanwhile, are looking to get their first win under new coach Beppe Iachini and put pressure on 19th-placed Genoa. Coming up next the team news.
Well all the focus has been on that unsavoury footage on Thursday that was beamed around the world, I am of course talking about Milan's friendly match against Pro Patria. Kevin-Prince Boateng made his feelings clear and even suggested his future in Italy is in jeopardy after the racist abuse he and others received. Today, Milan have came out with their specially printed shirts with the message "AC MILAN AGAINST RACISM" which they will wear during the warm-up. A couple of pieces to get you up to date if you've been on Mars recently. Boateng: I'm surprised that racism happens in 2013 (http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2013/01/04/3648295/boateng-im-surprised-that-racism-happens-in-2013) Boateng unsure about his future in Italy after racism walk-off (http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2013/01/05/3649826/boateng-unsure-about-his-future-in-italy-after-racism-walk) AC Milan to display anti-racism slogan against Siena: (http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2013/01/05/3651086/ac-milan-to-display-anti-racism-slogan-against-siena)
