A strong performance from the Milan goalkeeper, who made several good saves to keep Roma at bay. Also quick off his line to smother through balls.
M. De Sciglio
Put it some useful balls from the right hand side, but allowed a few too many mistakes to creep into his game, almost allowing Roma to find an opening goal through his inexperience.
Assured in the centre of defence, making a couple of important challenges and also displaying a cool head whilst in possession.
Integral to Milan keeping a clean sheet. Made several vital interceptions to deny Roma from carving out a good chance, and was aerially dominant over Osvaldo all evening.
Inconsistent and yet at times good on the ball. Gave away a few balls under little pressure in the first half, but delivered some good crosses and cross-field passes in the second. Came on strongly in the second half, bombing on well.
Battled well and worked hard, but failed to take chances when they fell to him. Should perhaps have convert a double chance in the second half when Lobont palmed the ball straight back out to him from about eight yards out.
Spread the play well in the first half, bringing De Sciglio into play nicely. Lost his head entirely however, physically manhandling the referee in an attempt to prevent the official from reaching for his card pocket, resulting in a red card.
Laboured away in the centre of midfield, despite the Roma midfield playing around him at times. His dogged determination was enough to thwart Roma from carving the home side's midfield apart.
Was presented with a great chance to break the deadlock in the first half, but faded in the second. Failed to truly add to Milan's attack, in what was a disappointing outing.
S. El Shaarawy
A disappointing game for the youngster, who was full of running but failed to really carve out any chances for his side. Despite being provided with a couple of half chances in the first half, the ball always seemed to escape him.
The victim of abuse from Roma fans may have had some impact on the young striker, but he failed to show the potency which has bagged him 11 goals for Milan this season. Caused problems with his presence.
Commanded his area well, punching away the majority of Milan's corner deliveries. Made a few good saves from the likes of Flamini and Mexes, to help his side keep a clean sheet.
Offered great energy down the right hand side, pressing forward as well as contributing defensively. Kept El Shaarawy very quiet throughout the game, limiting the youngster to a couple of half chances.
Stood up well to the physical battle against Balotelli, and made a couple of good blocks. Was unlucky not to turn a Pjanic free-kick toward goal with a late header.
Strong in the centre of the defence, making a couple of useful interventions and one particularly good block to deny Balotelli. Also capable of bringing down the ball and looked comfortable on the ball.
Similarly to Marquinhos on the other flank, he provided great offensive energy. He pressed forward to put in some good crosses, despite Osvaldo being unable to turn any of them home.
Tested Abbiati on several occasions with good efforts, and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. His intensity was good throughout, as he harried the opposition when required.
Tenacious and combative, the American acted brilliantly as a ball winning central midfielder. He broke up play fantastically, before keeping play ticking over. An imperious performance.
Battled well alongside Bradley. Made one particularly important block in the first half, on the slide, to toe a goal-bound Balotelli shot wide of goal.
Showed some skill in the first half to create a couple of opening for himself, but faded after the break, going missing apart from a good long range effort, deep in stoppage time.
Worked hard and did his best to get on the end of hopeful Roma deliveries, but didn't quite have the rub of the green. Battled against Mexes, but the Frenchman got the better of Osvaldo in the air.
Was important in Roma's counterattacking style, as he kept play moving forward, playing a few particularly classy through balls. Spoiled an otherwise good performance with a needless elbow in stoppage time.
