Solid enough in what he had to do and can hardly be faulted for the goals, or though he did seem to allow Nani to score United's second a little too easily.
Horror moment for the City captain deep into added time as he failed to deal with ball and allowed Nani to race through and convert the winner.
Had more desire and a bigger leap than the United defenders as he glanced in the opener with a header from six yards. Also impressed defensively with some timely blocks and alert positioning.
Whipped in some dangerous crosses but struggled defensively against the pace of Young. Replaced by new signing Clichy in the 73rd minute.
Lucky not to receive a red card following an ugly studs-up lunge on Young in the first-half. Other than that rash moment, he was solid defensively and displayed his powerful running ability going forward.
The England international's industry and tireless running meant United players could never settle when he was near the ball. Replaced by Johnson in the 68th minute.
The Spaniard always looked like the man who might unlock the United defence as he drifted into dangerous areas and produced typically astute passing. Delivered a brilliant free-kick for Lescott to head home the opener.
N. de Jong
Typically tenacious in midfield and disturbed United's passing. The Dutchman perhaps lacked a bit of his usual snap, perhaps being careful to avoid a caution.
The Ivorian didn't score his third Wembley winner and failed to impose himself on the game despite his athleticism and composed passing.
The Bosnian was the focal point of the City attack and he delivered with a 35-yard strike to put his side 2-0 up on the stroke of half-time. The United goalkeeper should have done better, but nevertheless it was a powerful and audacious effort. At the other end, he lost track of Smalling in the build-up to United's first goal.
The Italian never got into the game and his volatile nature was once again highlighted as he walked straight down the tunnel after being substituted in the 59th minute.
Conceded a very poor goal as he reacted too late to Dzeko's long-range strike and allowed the ball to zip past him and into a a central part of the goal. Looked composed in the other aspects of the game and his use of the ball was excellent.
A solid performance from the United left-back as he defended intelligently and linked up well with Young. Perhaps a little off the pace as he made a couple of late challenges, one of which earned him a booking.
Lost Lescott as City took the lead in the 38th minute. Until that moment, the England man had looked comfortable alongside Vidic. Substituted at half-time.
The United captain seemed flat-footed as he failed to challenge Lescott and City took the lead. Replaced by Evans after a 45-minute run out during which he appeared to enjoy his duel with Dzeko.
Played out of position at right-back but produced a storming performance, powerful in defence and always willing to run forward. Dragged United back into the game seven minutes after the restart as he turned the ball home from close range.
Played 45 minutes before being replaced at half-time by Cleverley. Tidy passing but often too slow when United were looking to play with speed.
His energy, physicality and passing ability helped United dominate the midfield battle. Snapped into tackles and delivered quick and incisive forward passes to the wingers and strikers.
Equalised with a chip to finish a brilliant team move and then scored a late, late winner by rounding Hart to turn the ball home. Capped a superb performance, full of pace and trickery.
A good omen for the summer signing as his pace and delivery caused problems throughout the game. Whipped in free-kick delivered an assist for Smalling's strike.
Linked up United's play with intelligent movement and quick passing. Involved in United's glorious second goal and went close himself with a curling free-kick in the first-half.
The young striker showed he could be a real asset for United this season with his pace, movement and clever link-up play. Seemed to have an excellent understanding with his team mates, although on a couple of occasions he could and should have been more selflish. Replaced by Berbatov late on.
- 12 S. Taylor
- 15 S. Savić
Had looked solid enough after replacing Kolarov in the 73rd minute but then failed to deal with the bouncing ball before Kompany's howler.
Replaced Milner midway through the second-half but failed to have any impact on the game and didn't show his dribbling ability.
Replaced Balotelli in the 59th minute but couldn't settle down the City midfield as they were overrun by United.
- 8 S. Wright-Phillips
- 16 S. Agüero
- 34 A. Lindegaard
Played the whole of the second-half and looked assured as he won almost every header up against Dzeko.
Half-time substitute and showed good anticipation to read danger.
- 13 Ji-Sung Park
Replaced Carrick at the break and slotted in to a central midfield role with some lovely touches. Played a key role in the team move for Nani's strike.
Replaced Welbeck in the 89th minute.
