Live Commentary

  • For a game with so many chances we have been slightly short changed with only one goal. But it was still a very entertaining and competative game and the Premier League newcomers can consider that a job well done today. Many thanks for joining me for this live text commentary. I have been Hayden Gribble and you have yourselves a great weekend!
  • Sam Allardyce throws his gum to the floor as he shakes hands with a victorious Steve Bruce. Hull were worthy of their lead in the second half but the Hammers will feel very hard done by as they had two penalty decisions turned away. They are still without a goal away from home this season and go back to the East End empty handed. For Hull, though, they are in seventh heaven!
  • 90' + 6'
The full time whistle has blown and Hull record yet another win as the Tigers march on! Hull 1-0 West Ham.
  • 90' + 3'
OUCH! There is a nasty clash of heads between Vaz Te and Rosenior as both players are treated. West Ham will launch one final assault on the Tiger's goal but it is surely too late now.
  • 90' + 3'
With just a minute on the clock, Huddlestone boots the ball into row-z before Nolan - who has been quiet since his early booking - can latch onto the ball in the box. It's nearly all over.
  • 90' + 1'
Sam Allardyce is looking pensive. I can't imagine him being very quiet about those penalty decisions when the ref makes his way down the tunnel!
  • 90'
There will be FOUR minutes of added time.
  • 89'
    Substitution Omatsone Aluko George Boyd
  • 89'
CHANCE! Vaz Te buys himself a yard of space roughly seven yards out to attempt an overhead kick that is safely gathered by McGregor.
  • 88'
A collective sigh of relief surrounds the KC stadium as the Tigers win a goal kick. They are nearly there...
  • 86'
Hull are defending like tigers (see what I did, there?) as they struggle to build a cohesive passage of play. A win would see them go seventh if other results stay as they are...
  • 84'
CHANCE! Vaz Te sees his free-kick from 20-yards fly close to Jaaskelainen's goal but it goes over. It's all West Ham at the moment.
  • 81'
It's backs-to-the-wall time Hull fans. They have got ten men behind the ball as the claret and blue tide is coming...
  • 80'
    Substitution Robbie Brady David Meyler
  • 79'
CHANCE! That was close from Rat as he brings the ball down on his chest and skies his half volley high and wide from the box. West Ham are coming back into this, make no mistake!
  • 78'
CHANCE! Vaz Te does well to connect with a drifted ball into the area but his effort lacks power and McGregor collects. Just over ten minutes to go and Hull are hanging on!
  • 76'
PENALTY SHOUT! Jake Livermore is at the centre of the action again as his elbow appears to block a shot on goal in the area. Penalty, surely? Once again, Kevin Friend turns down the appeals, leaving Allardyce on the sidelines to incredibly frustrated.
  • 74'
What has let the Hammers down to day is the service to the front man but will Downing change all of that? We are heading into the final fifteen minutes...
  • 73'
    Yellow Card Ravel Morrison
  • 72'
It will be interesting to see how the glut of changes effects the rest of this match but Hull must be glancing towards the finish line now. Livermore makes a lunging tackle that sees Reid booked for dissent after he courted the free-kick. West Ham will throw the kitchen sink if they have to!
  • 71'
    Substitution Danny Graham Y. Sagbo
  • 71'
Substitution Matthew Jarvis Ricardo Vaz Te
  • 71'
    Substitution Mohamed Diame Stewart Downing
  • 69'
The subs are still waiting to come on here but the ball is still in play as Morrison's cross for the Hammers is intercepted.
  • 67'
OFF THE POST! The Hammers defence switch off and Graham pounces on some slack play from Tomkins to tee up Livermore on the edge of the area, but he sees his low shot strike the foot of the post and back into play. So unlucky for the Spurs loanee.
  • 65'
Hull fans are off their seats again as Elmohamady races down the right flank but fails to look up and pick up Livermore, who was making an incisive run. Meanwhile, it looks like Downing is about to be introduced to the game for the Hammers.
  • 63'
The scoreline betrays this game. It has been an open, even and physical contest. Surely there will be more goals in the final third of proceedings?
  • 61'
CHANCE! Goalscorer Brady drifts a free-kick in from the right flank and the ball eludes the congestion ib the box to fall at Graham's feet, but his shot skies high and wide of goal.
  • 59'
    Substitution Modibo Maiga Mladen Petric
  • 59'
With just over half an hour to go, West Ham make their first change as Petric comes on for Maiga.
  • 57'
CHANCE! Aluko finds himself with a yard of space but the striker shoots over Jaaskelainen's bar. Goal kick to the visitors.
  • 54'
Sam Allardyce certainly thought that should have been a spot kick for his charges and he has a case. The Hammers can deem themselves very unlucky there.
  • 53'
PENALTY SHOUT! Was that handball from Davies? The Hull defender jumps high to clear a free-kick under pressure and the ball appears to flick his left arm on the way down towards the turf. I've seen them given.
  • 51'
The home fans are cheering their side on as Hull are looking comfortable on the ball. Many an applause has been made already this half. Steve Bruce must be proud of his side's solid start to the season so far.
  • 48'
OFFSIDE! Aluko sees his effort from inside the box chalked off as he was in an offside position when he picked the ball up on the edge of the area.
  • 47'
If both sides keep up the intensity of the first half then we will be in for a great 45 minutes! Elmohamady wins a corner for the Tigers.
  • 45'
    And we are back underway!
  • You would have to say that West Ham have looked good for an equaliser here, but Sam Allardyce might look to make a change or two to get his side back into this. The teams make their way back out onto the pitch as the second half is getting closer.
  • STAT ATTACK - West Ham have had just eight shots on target in five league games so far this campaign and have not yet scored away. (BBCSport)
  • HALFTIME - Both teams make their way down the tunnel at the break. If things stand as they are then the Tigers could see themselves go up to sixth and ABOVE Man Utd. A long way to yet though, Hull fans!
  • 45' + 1'
    Yellow Card Danny Graham
  • 45'
There will be TWO minutes of stoppage time.
  • 43'
Rat overcooks his cross from the left and the ball drifts harmlessly out for a throw on the near side. Bit of a waste, that for the visitors.
  • 40'
The game has calmed down a little now as we are five minutes from the end of the half. This is a close game, so far!
  • 36'
CHANCE! From the resulting corner, Elmohamady gets up to meet the ball and finds only Jaaskelainen's waiting palms. West Ham get the ball clear after a frantic few minutes.
  • 35'
CHANCE! And it's off the line again! This time it is the home side who see their effort denied as Curtis Davies jumped well inside the box to meet the corner but Maiga saves his side by rushing back onto the line and clears it up and onto the bar. Another corner for the Tigers. Good game, this!
  • 34'
CHANCE! This time it is Hull's turn to bulge the net as Aluko strikes a low free-kick from 25-yards over the Hammer's wall and Jaaskelainen scrambles the ball away.
  • 33'
CHANCE! Mark Noble sees his shot fly wide after picking a clearance up on the edge of the area and having a pop from 20-yards. The Hammers youth product frustratingly hold his head in his hands as the Londoners are getting closer.
  • 29'
CHANCE! Oh Maiga! The striker looks a right wally after skewing his shot and allowing the ball to go through his legs. He was in acres of space after good work from Noble in the box and that was a big chance for Sam Allardyce's men.
  • 27'
CHANCE! Winston Reid clears a dangerous ball into the West Ham box as Hull pick up the pressure. If his interception had not been so well timed, then Danny Graham would have had a clear shot on goal and a chance to double the home side's advantage.
  • 24'
You'd have to say that Hull have been winning the majority of the 50-50 chances but the Hammers are coming back into this game. Will they equalise before half time?
  • 23'
CHANCE! Corner for the Hammers on the left and Tomkins raises highest but he sees his shot chested off the line!
  • 20'
CHANCE! West Ham break forward and Maiga latches onto a through ball on the halfway line. He has to do all the hard work alone and his low shot from the edge of the area is smothered by McGregor.
  • 18'
Hull are creating chances here as a cross from Aluko on the left is gathered up by Jaaskelainen. The home side are being roared on by their support and you'd have to say that they are on top in the first half and look good for their lead.
  • 15'
Should West Ham feel hard done by there? It was a brave decision from the referee but the right one, no matter how theatrical Brady's fall was. The Hammers are looking to attack now and they have to get back in the game.
  • 12'
    Penalty Goal Robbie Brady
PENALTY TO HULL! The ball is pumped into the box from the right flank and Brady is sent tumbling by O'Brien. Penalty to the home side and it is the offended player who steps up to take it and places the ball in the bottom left-hand corner of Jaaskelainen's net. First blood, Hull.
  • 8'
    Yellow Card Kevin Nolan
  • 8'
Referee Kevin Friend is having strong words with the Hammer captain, Kevin Nolan after he slides in two-footed on the right-back Rosenior. Yellow card and Nolan will be walking a tight rope now.
  • 4'
Hull keeper McGregor is quick to punt a short back pass away before any danger comes from it. Good solid start for both teams here.
  • 4'
Tom Huddlestone is brought down by Mark Noble inside the centre cirlce and it's a free-kick to the Tigers. That's a juicy late tackle as the Hammers look to make their mark.
  • 1'
And we're off at the KC!
  • The teams are making their way out, kick-off is moments away!
  • STAT ATTACK - The Hammers are the only team in the Premier League to have their all their goals scored by English players this season. (Sportsmole)
  • We are ten minutes away from kick-off, whose your money on today? Will Hull build on that impressive display against Newcastle last weekend, or will West Ham turn around their poor away form? Not long to go now!
  • Maynor Figueroa comes back into the side for the Steve Bruce's men after being given leave for personal reasons last time out whilst Sam Allardyce makes one change from the side who lost to Everton last weekend as James Tomkins comes in for James Collins at the back.
  • Hull: McGregor, Rosenior, Figueroa, Davies, Faye, Huddlestone, Livermore, Elmohamady, Brady, Aluko, Graham. Subs: Harper, Bruce, McShane, Boyd, Quinn, Sagbo, Meyler. West Ham: Jaaskelainen, Reid, Nolan, Tomkins, Jarvis, Rat, Maiga, Morrison, Noble, O'Brien, Diame. Subs: Adrian, Taylor, Collins, Demel, Downing, Petric, Vaz Te.
  • Greetings! I'm Hayden Gribble and welcome to the live text commentary of Hull versus West Ham. It should be a great game here at the KC stadium, but before we go any further, let's have a look at the teams...
