Greuther Furth coach Michael Buskens turns 44 today and will be hoping for a belated birthday present as his side look to get past the Bundesliga leaders and into the DFB-Pokal final.

The hosts will likely stick with a similar team that saw them ease past 1860 Munich at the weekend with in-form Canadian striker Olivier Occean starting in attack. He could be joined by former Germany international forward Gerald Asamoah, who only made the bench at the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund are expected to welcome Sven Bender back to the starting line-up after the defensive midfielder recovered from illness. He stands to replace Ilkay Gundogan.

Jurgen Klopp will likely use his strongest first XI, but the match offers an opportunity for the coach to experiment and rest his stars should BVB gain a comfortable lead early on. Ivan Perisic may get a run out in midfield, while Mitch Langerak could be used in goal to give Roman Weidenfeller a break. Mario Gotze's return from injury nears, but it is unlikely he will see any action this week.

  • Greuther Furth have won six of their last seven games in all competitions. A league draw with Ingolstadt blemishes a near-perfect record.
  • Olivier Occean is enjoying a great scoring patch for the Cloverleaves. He has bagged six goals in his last seven outings.
  • The hosts have already eliminated two Bundesliga outfits on their way to the semi-final. Nurnberg and Hoffenheim both fell at their hand in the previous two rounds.
  • Borussia Dortmund come into the game on the back of setting a new unbeaten record for the club. It is now 20 league games since BVB last tasted defeat in the Bundesliga.

  • Jurgen Klopp's men were taken all the way to penalties by second-tier outfit Fortuna Dusseldorf in the third round. They scraped through, winning the shootout 5-4.
  • Dortmund last lifted the trophy 23 years ago in the 1988/89 season. The closest they have come since was in 2007/08 when they ended as runners-up to Bayern Munich.
