  • This is Miles Chambers signing out! I hope you've enjoyed this play-by-play and be sure to stick around or pop back to the website to check out the match reaction! You'll see me next in less than half an hour on the Juventus-Napoli play-by-by in less than half an hour!
  • The stars of the show? Undoubtedly Ribery and Muller for me, but Kroos, Schweinsteiger and Mandzukic deserve a fair share of praise too. The only Dusseldorf player who deserves any hint of a compliment is their goalkeeper Giefer, who made sure Bayern were unable to reach double figures with a string of saves throughout the match.
  • A solid five seconds into stoppage time the referee decides enough is enough, and calls an end to this Fortuna Dusseldorf mauling. Bayern Munich were simply superb in attack and untested in defence, as the hosts struggled to muster more than three crosses all game.
  • 89'
Unbelievably, Bayern are still hammering down the door, peppering the Dusseldorf goal with shots and making the defenders dance around in circles as they try and work out where the ball is.
  • 87'
    Assist Franck Ribéry
  • 87'
    Goal Rafinha
GOAL!! A minute after they seemingly finished off this tie, Rafinha rubs salt into the walloping wound by putting the visitors 5-0 up when one-on-one with the Dusseldorf keeper.
  • 86'
    Assist David Alaba
  • 86'
    Goal Thomas Müller
GOAL!! A strong run from substitute David Alaba down the left and his pinpoint, flat cross is easy for Muller to pummel Bayern's fourth of the match. 4-0 to the Bundesliga leaders with the clock almost run down.
  • 85'
A bit (and I mean a bit) of drama as Dusseldorf are forced to take a free-kick again because they took the first attempt too speedily.
  • 82'
    Substitution Dani Schahin Nando Rafael
  • 82'
    Substitution Bastian Schweinsteiger Rafinha
  • 82'
"One of the most one-sided Bundesliga games...ever" boasts the commentator. I feel like it's a bit of a bold statement, but Dusseldorf really haven't anything in the way of entertainment or quality in this clash.
  • 80'
Die Roten, for those who have forgotten, are almost guaranteed to set a new Bundesliga by winning every single one of their first eight league matches of the season.
  • 78'
Thomas 'marauding' Muller fizzles down the right wing and pops a cross in, but alas the lack of striker in the side means there is not a single Bayern soul in the box to get on the end of it.
  • 77'
    Substitution Mario Mandzukic David Alaba
  • 77'
Mandzukic makes way as Bayern decide not to field a recognised striker for these latter stages.
  • 75'
"Pass and another pass and another pass" - anyone who has played Fifa in the past couple of years will recognise this quote! But it really is the only way to decribe what Bayern are doing right now.
  • 72'
Attacking coaches should film this game to show copies to their players on how to exploit defences. Defensive coaches should watch it to understand how not to defend against world class attackers!
  • 70'
    Substitution Toni Kroos Javi Martínez
  • 70'
Bayern are continuing to outclass the hosts although the chances are at a premium as they take their foot of the gas collectively.
  • 67'
    Yellow Card Dante
  • 67'
The home fans finally have something to cheer about after Bayern defender Dante gets booked for a physical challenge on Lambertz. A harsh yellow card as he got the ball, but then again it was a bit of a clumsy clattering of bodies.
  • 66'
Unquestionably. A cross from the left is too high and Neuer can catch unchallenged at the far post.
  • 65'
Lahm forced to concede a corner. Can Bayern keep their concentration and keep their lead intact?
  • 63'
Ribery has been unmanageable for the Dusseldorf defence today. His movement off the ball and trickery on the ball has the home players looking over their shoulders frantically every couple of minutes!
  • 60'
Ribery turning and twisting inside the 18-yard box, but the winger's shot from six yards ends up being toe-poked straight into the Dusseldorf shot-stopper's chest.
  • 59'
Dusseldorf had that fightback-of-sorts earlier on in the half, where a player actually managed to get a cross in, but the visitors are pouring forward now.
  • 57'
I was about to say great news elsewhere for Bayern as Dortmund are 2-0 down, but Robert Lewandowski has pulled a goal back and it's 2-1 with around half an hour left in that match.
  • 55'
    Assist Franck Ribéry
  • 55'
    Goal Thomas Müller
GOAL!! Bayern Munich showing their class and go 3-0 ahead. Lahm's run, Ribery's vision then Muller's instinctive first-time finish. This team - when in a flow such as that - seem unstoppable.
  • 52'
Dusseldorf beat Bayern 6-5 in 1976 - any chance of that happening again?! Haha, I kid. If this actually happens now though...
  • 50'
Australian attacker Kruse spins past Badstuber and whips a dangerous ball in from the right wing, which Neuer must stretch to bat away from him.
  • 49'
Bellinghausen and Voronin - two subs brought on by the Dusseldorf head coach at half-time - are both getting involved in the opposition half, which is good news for home fans.
  • 48'
Ribery, roaming about the pitch, has a shot early in this second half from outside the box but it dribbles harmlessly wide of the left upright.
  • 46'
    Substitution Ken Ilsö Andriy Voronin
  • 46'
    Substitution Tobias Levels Axel Bellinghausen
  • 46'
Bayern Munich spent a little longer in the dressing room, but they're out and the referee has got the game restarted!
  • During the half-time break, I've seen odds of 66/1 for Dusseldorf to win this one. If they can pull a victory out of the bag based on that first-half performance it will be miraculous.
  • Dusseldorf are booed off the pitch for that lifeless display. Bayern have definitely been playing poorly, but the scoreline reflects the hosts' poor perfomance too.
  • 45'
Flipping heck, Tobias Levels almost heads it into the back of his own net!
  • 42'
Yellow Card Johannes van den Bergh
  • 42'
A deserved yellow card for Van den Bergh after he flies into Muller unnecessarily. The home side are clearly frustrated this afternoon.
  • 41'
    Yellow Card Andreas Lambertz
  • 40'
Neuer could pretty much bring a deck chair, some sun glasses and a nice magazine to read for the second half at this rate...
  • 38'
    Yellow Card Tobias Levels
  • 38'
Before Dusseldorf even have time to scratch their heads and figure out what is going wrong for them (clue: everything) dante almost makes it 3-0 at the right post from a Kroos free-kick!
  • 36'
    Goal Luiz Gustavo
GOAL!! Luis Gustavo doubles the lead for Die Roten! Lahm's free kick from wide on the left was won by Muller as he climbed above Lambertz at the back post. Giefer managed to get a hand to it but the ball double-ricocheted off Luiz Gustavo and the keeper as he followed in to roll into the back of the net.
  • 32'
Juanan is forced to clear for the hosts after Kroos shots from the edge of the box and Giefer spills the ball. Good reactions from the defender.
  • 30'
Dusseldorf with it all to do then. Fun fact: They have not beaten today's visitors at home since the 1985-86 season!
  • 28'
    Assist Franck Ribéry
  • 28'
    Goal Mario Mandzukic
Bayern Munich score!! Mandzukic slides in to send the Bundesliga leaders 1-0 up, after Ribery casual but clinical cross with the outside of his boot from the left half of the box to the back post. Great stuff.
  • 25'
Thomas Muller mixing magic with mistakes. He somehow keeps hold of the ball through numerous challenges ona run from left to right, but he fumbles his pass and it's a Dusseldorf throw.
  • 23'
Lahm, with one of his infrequent maraudings into the opposition box, forces another save from the Dusseldorf goalkeeper.
  • 21'
Bayern fans among you may be intrigued to know that Borussia Dortmund have gone 1-0 down at home to Schalke! This plays hugely into the hands of the visitors in this match, who would extend their lead at the top of the table even more with a win today should that result stay the same.
  • 19'
Holger Badstuber forces Giefer to punch clear with a long-range whipped free-kick.
  • 17'
Wondering if the offside decision was the correct one? Erm, probably not. It's one of those where it could be given either way and is impossible to blame the linesman for, but Muller looke JUST onside. Just.
  • 16'
The ball's in the back of the net!! But it won't count!! Thomas Muller snaps a shot in from 20 yards but the assistant referee raised his flag to deny the German the opening goal.
  • 13'
Toni Kroos! He scored during the international break for Germany and tests Giefer from 25 yards with a powerful shot which the keeper just about blocks away from goal.
  • 12'
Du-Ri Cha tries to counterattack, but on his own he can only have minimal impact and his strike on goal easily bobbles into Manuel Neuer's hands.
  • 10'
Dusseldorf defender Juanan clears to deny Ribery inside the area, before team-mate Robbie Kruse almost puts it in his own net with an attempted clearance!
  • 8'
Dusseldorf are defending with organisation...for now. Bayern are pressing hard and seeking weak points in the hosts' back line.
  • 6'
Mario Mandzukic forces a save from inside the box, and Dusseldorf goalkeeper Fabian Giefer pushes it wide for a corner.
  • 3'
Franck Ribery has predictability seen plenty of the ball down the left flank early on as Bayern - playing in an all-white kit - dominate possession in the opening stages.
  • 1'
    And we're off!
  • So, the big story that permeates this match is whether or not Bayern can break the current Bundesliga record of consecutive wins at the start of the season. A victory at Esprit Arena would extend their three-point streak to eight wins out of eight this campaign, allowing them to become the first ever team to do so.
