The reserve keeper had little to do for much of the night until his calamitous error allowed Kalou's weak strike in and forced the hosts to chase the game. Looked to have regained confidence until he parried a Malouda strike into the path of Sturridge who netted the winner.
Marshalled both Lukaku and Anelka brilliantly throughout and was unfortunate to see a first half header hit the side netting. Imperious in the air.
Struggled to link with Bilyadetinov in the first half but came alive in the second. A poor penalty and follow up the most obvious disappointments of a livelier second half for the defender which saw him impressively block an Anelka attempt on the line at the death.
Clumsily conceded the first half penalty and was probably the most relieved man in Goodison to see it go wide. Otherwise, a solid performance from the Dutchman.
A poor performance from the Russian whose biggest contribution was a poor back post header at Cech when unmarked in the second half. Subbed for Coleman on 80 mins.
Worked hard in midfield but not deadly enough with the ball from deep. Subbed on 77 mins for Stracqualursi.
Poor throughout the first half but like many of his team-mates vastly improved in the second. Had no right to win the flick on which caused the penalty incident and managed to find space at will afterwards.
The Everton captain was as reliable as ever, making an appearance at right back but subbed at half time with an apparent injury.
A virtuoso performance from the diminutive Dutchman ruined by indiscipline. Played from the right and was a constant thorn in Chelsea sides. His step-overs and direct running had the Chelsea defence constantly retreating but his silly clash with Bertrand brought a second yellow card and an early bath.
Showed great discipline throughout to spread play from deep and put in several covering challenges. Often got forward to support attacks at the right time without leaving the defence exposed.
The Frenchman's hold up play was fantastic throughout and he presented himself as a real outlet for the hosts. Did brilliantly to win the second half penalty after just managing to get a toe in front of Turnbull. His goal was thoroughly deserved after great front post movement and a sublime headed finish.
Made several decent saves early on but knew little about the challenge which saw him red carded after some haphazard defending put him under pressure.
Spent the majority of the game in the Everton half even after the hosts went down to 10 men. Did little to influence the match either defensively or offensively until an incredible long distance strike had Tim Howard scrambling late on.
Should have perhaps done better to clear the ball for the Everton penalty incident and never particularly convincing defensively.
Looked composed and classy in the first-half with several impressive forward bursts but as the match wore on the young full-back struggled and seemed uncomfortable against the threat of Drenthe.
Beaten in the air by Cahill for the penalty incident and run ragged by Saha throughout. Not the kind of performance the Brazilian would be looking to get back into the first-team squad with.
The most experienced head in the original Chelsea midfield pulled the strings in the majority of their attacks. Had to be more disciplined after the sending off but got his reward seeing his late shot parried into the path of Sturridge who sealed the win.
Worked hard in front of the Chelsea back four and also displayed the eye for a crossfield ball on occasion. The youngster showed some real class throughout but was part of a midfield that could not control their opposition in the second half.
A quiet night for the much hyped youngster. Covered well on a few occasions and did well to win the first-half penalty but was seemingly shackled to sit deep deep with his midfield partner Romeu. Subbed on 63 for Mikel.
Not a great showing from the Ivorian who did little to threaten the Everton defence with his dribbling. Fortunate to score after Mucha's error. Subbed on 85 mins for Sturridge.
A night to forget for the Belgian forward. Poor hold up play and some wayward finishing meant he had little impact on Chelsea's attacks before becoming the victim of Turnbull's red. Subbed on 58 mins for Cech.
A mixed night for the Frenchman. Looked Chelsea's biggest threat in the first-half but his nonchalant penalty cost the visitors an early lead. Worked hard after Chelsea went down to 10 but could put little stamp on the game and should have done better than to hit a late chance at a stranded Baines.
- 12 M. Hahnemann
The youngster provided the fantastic ball for Saha's equaliser and was incredibly busy after coming on. Some brilliant dribbles and confident passing served to cement his already growing reputation.
Ever reliable, the right-back came on at half time and was quiet and dependable as is so often the case.
- 21 L. Osman
- 20 R. Barkley
- 27 A. Vellios
Battled well with the Chelsea centre-halves but didn't provide enough cutting edge up front to match his strike partner's performance.
His first contribution was an incredible double save from Leighton Baines' penalty and follow up. Could do little about the equaliser after Saha had a run on his man in the box.
- 19 Paulo Ferreira
- 10 Mata
J. Obi Mikel
Had a defensive job to do upon replacing McEachran in the 63rd minute and stuck to his task with impressive discipline.
- 8 F. Lampard
- 9 Fernando Torres
Worked hard attempting to create after coming on and reacted first to Mucha's spill to slide in from close range and give Chelsea the win.
