Though East Bengal has dominated the match, their casual mistakes have made way for Bangaluru to retract.
Bengaluru FC having a few corners here! John Johnson, however has not been impressive on the set-pieces. Concedes a foul here!
Yellow Card John Menyongar
Yellow Card Robert Lalthlamuana
Another bad challenge from Robert and this time he ends up going into the referee's notebook.
Abhijit Mondal to the rescue again after East Bengal concedes another silly free kick on the wings. Before the Sean Rooney freekick could reach any of the Bengaluru players, the home custodian makes a timely outing.
Another injury woe for Falopa as Avishek Das in now injured and makes way for Naoba Singh.
Raju Gaikwad, on the other hand, has looked very solid after earning his first start in the I-League this season.
CHIDI AGAIN! Another chance wasted as the East Bengal striker was very poor in possession and invites attention from the whole Bengaluru defense line before failing to even take a shot.
Chettri has been very slow on the ball as well, as he has failed to make anything of the through balls played to him.
East Bengal trying to attack from the middle especially with their left flank looking very inactive.
Harmanjot Singh Khabra
Both the teams looking to go for the kill as he number of audacious long balls and miss-passes increase. It's becoming drab now.
And he is taken off, as Joaquim Abranches is injected into the action by Marcos Falopa.
Khabra is down with an injury and is taken out of field for further treatment.
IS THIS THE REAL CHIDI EDEH? After a good solo run by James Moga, he dribbles two defenders and supplies the ball to Chidi. But the striker was so slow that a couple of defenders also came to action and blocked a tame effort by him. Shamblic, from the prolific Nigerian.
Siam Hangal had his share of taking shots, but he misses it by a few miles as the ball flies over the bar.
Though Robin has done a mishap here, he has given the right wing of the visiting team a new lifeline. They are now looking more comfortable especially when they have the ball.
Though Cavin Lobo has often placed himself in good positions, Chidi and Moga have been reluctant to pass him the ball .
Abhishek Das has looked rock solid at the back and has been a good replacement for Naoba Singh. This time, he gets the better of Sean Rooney after Hangal sends in a cross from the right.
Mindblowing action here! East Bengal has the elusive first goal, but it will be a very tough test for them to retain the lead.
ROBIN IN ACTION AGAIN! After an initial Bengauluru effort fisted away by Abhijit, Robin had the ball with the whole breadth of the net to his mercy. But he took a powerful shot using his instep which misses the target by inches and comes back after the hitting the crossbar.
Own Goal Robin Singh
GOAALLL! ROBIN SINGH BREAKS THE DEADLOCK! BUT HOLD ON, IT'S AN OWN GOAL! The ex East Bengal striker guides the ball home in effort to parry away a Lalrindika Ralte corner. There was absolutely no need for him to come in the way of his owen goalkeeper.
WHAT A SHOT! Lobo making ammends here. Takes a shot from almost 30 yards away and the shot rattles the crossbar. Beautiful from the East Bengal player.
Just when East Bengal was trying to mould an attack starting from a throw-in, Ralte ended up conceding a silly foul.
And we are off!
GOAAALLL!! Moga scorcher doubles the lead for East Bengal after Baljit showed some good skills on the ball just inside the box. What a strike from him!
We take a short break for the moment and will return when the second half resumes. Stay tuned to Goal, as another exciting half of action beckons.
Half-Time Scoreline: East Bengal 0-0 Bengaluru FC. This has been an even affair so far with both the teams having its share of chances.
45' + 1'
HORRIBLE FROM LOBO! After another trademark short corner from the home team, Lobo had a peace of unaccustomed space before him. The medio chooses to run to the end of the box and then chip it back, which fell staright to Sean Rooney, who was alone a few yards away from action. BAD stuff from the ex-Mumbai FC player.
East Bengal claims a corner here!
Avishek Das goes on a good solo run down the right wing after Chidi gave him the ball. The U-23 player however, wastes the opportunity by playing a ball blindly, though any of the strikers were not present in the box.
Moga, the towering striker has strrugled to keep his balance, but is still marginally better than Chidi, who is having another off-day here.
East Bengal has been very inconsistent, and has been brilliant in patches only. Much better an effort compared with the last Dempo match though.
Action at the other end of the turf now. Lalrindika Ralte was provided with yards of space before him, but his shot was not enough to give Pawan Kumar any problem in saving his fortress.
Shot! Rooney pulls off a brilliant strike under pressure from the East Bengal bodies, but Mondal was alert to hold it with ease.
SAVE! Abhijit Mondal comes out of his lineto deny Sean Rooney from opening his account after Hangal was once again allowed to have a good run down the middle. Good stuff from both the teams.
CHANCE!! JAMES MOGA! The new recruit was unmarked from a corner and even connects it, but it goes past the far post, ,much to the agony of the supporters present in the stadium.
CHANCE! Hangal had set his target from the right edge of the box, but his powerful shot flew past the target without even throwing a challenge to Abhijit.
First corner for East Bengal but the usual short corner from the Kolkata club is once again cleared away easily by the Bengaluru defense.
An exciting affair so far has been very exciting with box-to-box football. Much of the coutesy goes to the wet turf which has given players enough problems till now.
East Bengal midfield has looked fluid today, especially with the inclusion of Khabra in the line-up.
SAVE! Abhijit Mondal had his first test of the day after Haokip sends in a ball and Curtis Osano heads it goalwards. A bit of fumbling and then holding it was enough to protect the deadlock.
Bengaluru FC have their first corner here! Remember, this is one of their best weapons!
Lalrindika Ralte has linked up well in the hole just behind the two strikers, but his procrastination to play timely passes has done little good to the Red and Golds.
MOGA TESTS HIS LUCK!The South Sudanese striker pulls the trigger targetting the near post and hits the side net in the process. It looked never dangerous though as the travelling custodian was alert in his territory.
Yellow Card John Johnson
Yellow Card Mehtab Hossain
Mehtab Hossain becomes the first players to get booked after a unnecessary challenge. John Johnson followed soon too after coming forward to the East Bengal box.
CHANCE! Chidi takes a good shot at goal after being supplied the ball in the six yard box, but his shot went very wide from the target.
JOHNSON IS LUCKY HERE! Though the Bengaluru defender had tackled Chidi in dangereous position but the referee was to shy to take out the yellow card from his pocket.
Ralte is again late to release the ball and denies to pass the ball to Chidi who was in a much better position. Bad choice of options.
Rooney and Chettri played a neat one-to-one among themselves after a oof-up by Gurwinder inside the East Bengal area. Sunil's shot, however, has been blocked by the Red and Gold bodies.
Bengaluru FC trying to build up through the wings with Haokip and Keegan having the licenses to go forward at will.
Chidi seems sluggish on the ball, and has failed to get the ball from fifty-fifty position on a couple of occasions. This time, he fails to reach a pass played to him in the wing.
Khabra with anothe rash challenge now and the official talks to him. No booking though.
A foul by Lalrindike Ralte sparks some excitement in the ground, but he wsa not booked. East Bengal defense keep John Johnson at bay from the long ball and the danger is parried away.
Sloppy from Bengaluru as Keegan loses the ball in the midfield under slight pressure of Khabra. Chidi however couldn't connect the ball that was played to him.
Robert M, the left-back got the ball at the edge of the box, but wastes the opprtunity by taking a half-hearted effort towards target.
Another chance! Chidi gets a half chance, as a long diagonal ball was supplied to him. Narrow escape for the away side.
East Bengal dominating the affair here. Lobo in his unusual position in the right wing has started well.
ATTACK! Chidi Edeh takes the first shot of the match after being fed by Moga, who got the ball after a good run by Lobo in the right flank.
Players losing balance on the wet turf. Moga suffers a little injury and after a short medical break, he is back!
I am Atanu Mitra and I will be taking you through the action for the next 90 minutes. Game on!
Sunil Chhetri starts upfront with Sean Rooney for Bengaluru FC.
A minute of silence to pay tribute to the legendary singer Manna Dey, who passed away a couple of day ago.
Wim Koevermans, the coach of the Indian National Team is present in the press-box as well.
The weather is still overcast and another downpour can raise major concerns over whether the match can be completed under good lights. The natural turf can also raise a few eyebrows given the clear marks of studs it has already suffered.
And about the atmosphere in the stadium, Kalyani is recovering slow from a morning that saw torrential rain halting daily life. Unlike the last two home matches, the attendance is pretty low, with people still creeping in the venue.
Talking about the travellers, this is the first away encounter for Bengaluru FC, who are now at the top of the table, courtesy to their brilliant home performance, where except for a drawn affair against Mohun Bagan, they have won all matches before in their own turf.
Avishek Das retains his place in the starting line up while Robert M has been employed in the left back position. Gurwinder Singh and Raju Gaikwad pair up at the heart of the defense to keep the likes of Sean Rooney and Sunil Chhetri at bay. Khabra returns to I-League action after a long break having recovered from a nagging injury.
The home team has lost three of its last four matches, though a couple of them were in the AFC Cup against a resolute Kuwait SC side. Uga Okpara got the marching orders in the last match, and is hence unavailable for the tie. Arnab Mondal and Soumik Dey are also recovering from injuries and that forces Marcos Falopa to field a new defensive quartet today.
Hello and welcome to Goal’s live coverage of the I-League as East Bengal play host to chart-toppers Bengaluru FC in Kalyani today.
