Dempo SC have won only one of their six matches in the New Year, which could be one of the reasons why they are lagging behind in the title race this season.
The Golden Eagles have also dropped points against some of the weaker sides in the league as they have managed to gather 35 points from 10 wins and five draws, having played 19 matches so far.
|Ryuji Sueoka's return could be a huge boost for Dempo
For a side who have experienced a dismal start to their I-League season, four consecutive wins could be quite comforting for Sporting Clube de Goa at the current stage of the competition when every point makes a big difference.
Sporting, who are now eighth in the standings with 26 points from 20 games, also have the opportunity of breaking into the top half of the table if they manage to a point or three against the Goan rivals.
The Flaming Oranje will hence look to gather full points in the battle between the two Panjim-based sides.
Dempo SC: Ryuji Sueoka will be seen in action after a long injury lay-off, while Mahesh Gawli is also likely to feature. Debabrata Roy will be a doubtful starter after suffering an injury against ONGC. Samir Naik has been sidelined for at least three months after recently undergoing a surgery.
Sporting Clube de Goa: Oscar Bruzon has got a fit squad and only defender Joyner Lourenco will be missing after receiving a red card in the last fixture. Adil Khan is the likely replacement. Striker Dawson Fernandes could also be making his return after recovering from injury.
