Dempo SC - Mumbai FC Preview: Both teams will look to return to winning ways

Both Dempo SC and Mumbai FC have failed to notch three points in their last fixture and will look to register three points this weekend...

Rebello, Rowilson, Antao, Selwyn;
Anthony, Carvalho, Climax, Franco;
Abranches, Menyongar

Stephene, Amiri, Yadav, Kamaljeet;
Chakraborty, Chhangte, Quao, Nicholas;
Yakubu, Gabriel

Injuries have marred Dempo SC's season so far and as a result, their campaign has been far from a smooth ride. Add to that their marquee signing flopping big time in Rohan Ricketts and you get the answers as to why the club is placed third in the I-League standings instead of being at the helm.

After failing to score for 3 games, they recorded a 7-0 victory over United Sikkim.One may have thought that the Goan side have finally found their top form but that wasn't to be. They were held 1-1 by ONGC in the last matchday which has seen them drop further points in the title race.

The result in East Bengal's match on the same day may play some role with Dempo SC's standings at the end of round 19, although the Eagles would want to keep the title race as exciting as possible.

The tackle that left Debabrata Roy sidelined for over a month

Mumbai FC also had their share of success in the league, so far picking 25 points from 17 matches from seven wins and four draws, although Khalid Jamil's side has been criticised on several occasions for their physical approach to the game.

Afghan defender Haroon Amiri has been one of their stand-out performers this season, besides the consistency of Ghanaian striker Yusif Yakubu.

They have the belief to grind out results and with a mentally strong coach in Jamil, they can easily pull off an upset win over the defending champions.

Dempo SC: Debabrata Roy is sidelined for around a month after sustaining an injury to his left ankle in the match against United Sikkim, while Mahesh Gawli is far from recovery. Ryuji Sueoka may be fit for Saturday's clash although Koko Sakibo, Clifford Miranda and Samir Naik have been ruled out with injuries.

Mumbai FC: There have been no reported injuries in the camp, but Mumbai FC will miss the services of midfielder Ashutosh Mehta who has picked four yellow cards in the previous matches.

  • Dempo SC hold the advantage in the last five head-to-head contests, beating Mumbai FC four times and settling for a draw in their last meeting.
  • New signing Prathamesh Maulingkar from Pailan Arrows is a youth product of Dempo SC.
  • Both Dempo SC and Mumbai FC enjoy a similar sucess rate (56.30%) from their last eight matches.
