The good news for the club is that coach Arthur Papas is back after being away for over a month due to personal reasons. His presence in the technical area would inspire his players and his tactical acumen cannot be replaced.
"I have a real belief in this playing group to make a positive start to 2014," said Arthur Papas, the Dempo coach. However, the Australian has a few injuries concerns to deal with.
"There are still two-to-three injury concerns for the Federation Cup or players who are not at hundred percent match fitness, so we will have to see how they progress," he mentioned.
Billy Mehmet and Shinnosuke Honda have been shown the door after poor showings for the club and in came Tolgay Ozbey and Haroon Amiri from Mohammedan Sporting and Mumbai FC respectively. The addition of midfielder Sanju Pradhan will add some much needed experience amongst their ranks.
Bhawanipore FC have meanwhile recently tasted success in the Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoiloi Trophy by beating Aizawl FC 1-0 in the final of the 62nd edition of the championship played in Guwahati, Assam, last week.
The I-League second division side have a decent squad under Brazilian Juliano Silveira Fontana, wherein former Mohun Bagan striker Jose Ramirez Barreto plies his trade but is likely to miss out due to a hamstring injury. The versatile Daniel Bedemi, who plied his trade for Shillong Lajong in the past will be also be seen in action.
Debjit Majumder, the goalkeeper is also in the form of his life, after being named the player of the tournament in the Bordoloi Cup.
