Ibrahimovic only lasted 38 minutes on his PSG debut but it was sufficient time for him to score his first goal for the French club.WASHINGTON -- Zlatan Ibrahimovic got off to a flying start with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring three minutes into his debut – a 1-1 friendly draw with D.C. United at RFK Stadium.
The Swedish striker did not make much of an impact beyond his quick goal, and was withdrawn after 38 minutes. Manager Carlo Ancelotti had stated prior to the match that Ibrahimovic would play 40-45 minutes. His time on the pitch was interupted by a lightning delay, which broke up the first half of the international friendly.
PSG's newest arrival made his debut in style in the third minute. Ibrahimovic collected a probing pass from Jeremy Menez, sharply cut to his left foot, feigned, then buried a laser into the far corner.
Then, the rains came. Play was halted for 45 minutes after lighting and thunder made their way into the area.
When the teams came back, D.C. United drew level within a few minutes. A cross went straight into the outstretched arm of PSG defender Milan Bisevac, forcing the referee to point to the spot. Dwayne De Rosario blasted his spot kick into the upper corner, giving Nicolas Douchez zero chance.
As the game drew to its conclusion, PSG had a number of chances to earn the win, but substitute goalkeeper Joe Willis came up with a the saves to ensure the match would end at 1-1.
