The keeper was only really forced into a couple of difficult saves by Inter throughout the 90 minutes. He dealt with whatever was sent his way with ease and maintained concentration for the whole game.
The centre-back was impressive in the air and ensured that he was close to any ball over the top. He and Rossettini communicated well to keep Rocchi's involvement limited and they will be delighted with the clean sheet.
A decent showing from the full-back as he got up and down the right to great effect. He timed his challenges brilliantly in the wide areas and was not afraid to get forward and provide support in the other half.
The 18-year-old left-back put in a passionate display as he showed unbridled determination when going in for the tackle. He also displayed his desire to get forward and but for a block by Pereira, he would have had an assist.
A solid performance at the heart of defence as he restricted the space in the channels to help keep Cagliari tight at the back. He read the game well and never looked to be out of position.
The Swede did not see an awful lot of the ball and thus struggled to make his mark on the game. However, he kept on hounding opponents and won back the ball in some good areas.
Buzzed about the pitch early on but was forced to leave the pitch through injury after just seven minutes.
Should have done better with an early shot that rolled comfortably into the hands of Handanovic. Nevertheless, he maintained a high level of energy until he was replaced in the 56th minute.
Attempted to police the midfield but did not manage to do an awful lot to stop Inter from controlling possession. He was lucky that Guarin did not quite seem at his best because he offered the Colombian too much space.
The Brazilian floated about the front line and provided some decent passes into the area. Inter found it difficult to pick him up but in truth he never really looked like worrying them in behind.
A bright performance from the striker as he pulled wide and raced at the Inter defence time and again. His pace caused them no end of trouble and was only denied Cagliari's third by the crossbar.
The Slovenian did not have an awful lot to do, bar a couple of relatively simple early stops. He claimed the majority of crosses that he came for in a calm manner but could do nothing to keep out Pinilla.
A competent performance at left-back from the former Porto man. He regularly offered a route out for his team-mates when he moved up the pitch. But his key contribution came at the other end, diverting Ibarbo's close-range effort behind.
Despite being 39 years old, the Argentine was utterly tireless. He ran up and down the right wing all afternoon, frequently providing his team with the push forward in the wide areas when they needed it most.
The Brazilian picked up an early yellow card for a cynical foul on Ibarbo and was perhaps fortunate not to have been sent off following another foul soon after.
A disappointing performance from the Argentine as Inter always looked vulnerable with him and Juan in the centre of defence. His poorly-judged tackle on Pinilla handed Cagliari a penalty which sent them on to all three points.
Struggled to find space in which to pick up the ball and feed the strikers. He ended up playing a number of hopeful balls into the box and also settle for a few speculative, long-range efforts on goal.
The Argentine looked full of confidence as he dropped off the front line to use his pace by running at defenders. He got a couple of promising efforts away and really should have tested Agazzi far more.
A combative performance in midfield from the Uruguayan as he chased down the ball and hassled the Cagliari players no end. He never shied away from a tackle and helped Inter maintain possession before injury forced him off.
Had a decent first half as he tried to dictate the tempo of the game in midfield with some short, crisp passing. However, he lacked the bite to really assert himself on his opponents and became rather limp in the second half.
The post denied him what would have been a sublime goal after a fantastic move with Rocchi in the first half, though it proved to be a rare positive moment. He could not help unlock the Cagliari defence and was substituted in the second half.
The veteran striker showcased some quality movement to get himself in dangerous areas between the defenders. Yet when he got into those positions his finishing left a lot to be desired as he sprayed a number of efforts off target.
Was introduced far earlier than he may have expected when he replaced Cossu in the seventh minute, yet it seemed not to faze him. The Argentine acted as a wall for any player to bounce a pass off and that was key to Pinilla's second.
Replaced Ekdal in the 85th minute.
Came on for Dessena in the 56th minute and quickly made his impact known. After winning the penalty he dispatched it with aplomb before showing great control and composure to add his second and ensure a memorable victory for his team.
Replaced Cambiasso in the 67th minute but was withdrawn himself just eight minutes later after picking up a knock.
Played the final 15 minutes in place of Nagatomo but could not make his mark on the game.
Came on for Gargano in the 53rd minute and was unable to offer the same sort of protection to the defence.
