M. Reus 4'
That's all we've got time for this afternoon, but we hope you enjoyed our coverage of Dortmund's close 1-0 Bundesliga victory over Hannover. I've been Simon Harrison, and I hope to see you again next time.
A few needless yellow cards for each sides towards the end of the game, as emotions spilled over the top a little, but both sides can be pleased with their work today. On other afternoon, that could have finished 1-0 to the visitors, but football is an unpredictable mistress!
A hard-fought affair which sees Dortmund keep the pace with the likes of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen at the lofty heights of the Bundesliga table, while Hannover's poor recent form continues. Plenty of positives for Slomka's men however, as that was a tough game for the hosts!
An early penalty proved to be the difference between two very offensive-minded sides. Hannover vastly improved in the second half, and could even have stolen a point at the very death of the game, but Huszti couldn't quite turn the chance home.
There goes the full time whistle! The Hannover players are complaining to the referee about something, but it doesn't matter now anyway. Dortmund win 1-0 courtesy of a solitary goal from Reus, and Klopp's smile says it all, that was a good three points.
90' + 4'
Yellow Card Roman Weidenfeller
90' + 4'
Saved by Zieler! The Hannover goalkeeper makes an easy save from a long-range free-kick, and that should be it for Dortmund now!
90' + 3'
Andreasen is penalised for blocking off Lewandowski, seemingly, before tempers spill over and a couple of players receive yellow cards for dissent. We're over our allotted time now.
90' + 2'
HUSZTI! The Hungarian almost manages to equalise in the last minute of the game! He shoots, but it is blocked, and Dortmund break with Schieber! Schieber tries to square for Aubameyang, but a recovering defender manages to scramble it away!
90' + 1'
90' + 1'
Instead of taking the free-kick conventionally, Dortmund take it short with the intention of running down the clock by the corner flag. It doesn't last long however, and the referee awards Hannover a free-kick.
Dortmund win a free-kick about 30 yards from goal, following Hofmann being brought down. Klopp uses the opportunity to make a substitution. There are two minutes of stoppage time.
Weidenfeller is allowed to waste some time, after a poor through ball from Andreasen is easily collected by the German goalkeeper. Huszti looks to pressure the Dortmund keeper, but he's going to take as long as he wants, it seems.
Marcelo stretches to attempted to reach a lofted delivery into the box from Huszti, but the Brazilian can't manage to beat Aubameyang to the ball. Time isn't on Hannover's side now.
Dortmund break with Aubameyang, after good defending from Grosskreutz. The home side get to the edge of the opposition penalty area, before an attempted through ball is pulled back for offside, while Aubameyang bears down on goal.
Great ball from Hofmann! The substitute plays an excellent through ball in search of his teammate, who gets there due to his immense pace, but a supposed touch from Zieler sees the ball go behind for a corner - which is wasted.
Bittencourt is complaining once again, this time as he believes he deserves a free-kick, after receiving a blow to his ankle. The linesman tells the Hannover man to get on with the game. Frustrations perhaps rising a little, as the away side have improved with no reward in the second half.
Offside! Bittencourt looks to play off the last man, but is narrowly behind Subotic when the long ball was launched forward. The youngster complains, but he was a yard or two ahead of his marker there.
SAHIN! The Turkish international tries an audacious little scooped through ball in search of Aubameyang, but it's cut out! The crowd groan collectively once more, but that was a great idea from the midfielder.
Narrowly under ten minutes to go in this game, and Hannover are in the ascendency! A block is made, before Weidenfeller makes a save to deny Kadah! Slomka has his head in his hands, he thought that was going in!
Good defensive work from Dortmund! First Sokratis and then Subotic are forced to clear, as dangerous crosses from Andreasen look to test the home side's resolve. Schlaudraff has already had a good impact, providing a physical presence down the right for Durm to deal with.
Grosskreutz cuts inside his man, before being tackled, but a supporting player is able to pick up the pieces and deliver to the back post. Kuba tries to acrobatically turn the ball back across goal, but gets it all wrong.
Overhit from Mkhitaryan! The Armenian looks to thread the ball in behind Marcelo in search of the advancing Kuba, but gets the execution all wrong! The crowd show their displeasure with a healthy amount of jeers, that was an awful pass.
Hannover want a foul for a push on Huszti by Sokratis, but the referee makes a great decision to not award a free-kick. The midfielder looked to fall into the Greek central defender, rather than be tugged or pushed by his marker.
Sane gives the ball away needlessly, looking to invite Sakai forward with a risky pass. Hannover are struggling to string passes together now, with Dortmund much more incisive and organised once they win the ball. Mkhitaryan looks to break into the area, but Schulz tackles him well.
Around twenty minutes left to play, and this game could still have any outcome. Dortmund have regained some control since the beginning of the second half, but it's still possible that Kadah and Bittencourt could have some chances if they can get in behind Sokratis and Subotic.
Bittencourt looks to make something happen whenever he receives the ball, but is a little too ambitious in trying to weave in between three yellow shirts. There's a sense that the youngster is trying to impress both his own manager and Klopp here.
Sokratis misses an important interception, allowing for Stindl to try and break beyond Durm down Hannover's right flank, but the Dortmund left-back does just enough to put the ball out of play. Sokratis hasn't been overly convincing in his defensive work this afternoon.
Kuba is down almost instantly, looking in some discomfort following a rather awkward fall following a tangle with Prib. He's back to his feet quickly however, so he won't be needed to leave the field within a minute of taking to it.
Klopp elects to make a change before this game gets a little too open for his liking, replacing this afternoon's only goalscorer with Polish international Blaszczykowski, otherwise known as Kuba.
Dortmund have yet another corner, despite the attempts of Sane to prevent the set piece from being given. The corner is cleared at the first and second attempts, as balls from Reus and Grosskreutz both fail to find dangerous areas.
Bittencourt beats Aubameyang impressively, but is outmuscled as he attempts to beat Bender. Huszti then breaks into the Dortmund box, weaves his way past Sokratis smartly, but Weidenfeller is able to race off his line and smother the ball.
AUBAMEYANG! The Gabonese forward flashes another effort narrowly side of the post, and it looked to take a deflection on the way through. Sahin takes the corner after it is eventually awarded, but Bender's header turns the ball away from goal, bizarrely.
BITTENCOURT! The youngster wriggles away from Sokratis, who can't match the pace of his opponent, but fails to test Weidenfeller with a very tame effort. Plenty of positive signs for Hannover at the moment, and Klopp is becoming very animated on the sidelines with the hope of turningt this game around.
Subotic nods a header into the grateful grasp of Zieler, as yet another chance materialises for Dortmund from a set piece. At this stage in the game, it's difficult to predict the outcome, with both sides trading chances and possession so freely.
An excellent start to the second half, Hannover have really grown into the game and have begun to test Dortmund! End-to-end stuff from sides who are keen to turn defence into attack as quickly as is physically possible. As players tire, gaps could appear which could be exploited!
Great block from Sokratis! Sobiech looked to have the golden opportunity to equalise, but the Greek defender managed to throw a leg in the way to make an important block! Dortmund head up the other end of the field, with Sahin delivering to the back post for Lewandowski, but the Polish hitman can't get there to turn it home.
Great challenge from Subotic, he was last man, he had to get that right! Sobiech is dispossessed, but Hannover recover possession, sending a devilish ball towards the back post! Grosskreutz manages to nod the ball clear of the danger zone with Huszti lurking!
Unconventional save from Weidenfeller, but the Dortmund keeper keeps his side in the game! Excellent counter-attacking football from Hannover! The away side work the ball from right to left quickly, before a powerful strike tests Weidenfeller! Great play, I think that Prib had the chance there.
MKHITARYAN! The Armenian tests Zieler for the first time of the afternoon, forcing the goalkeeper to beat a powerful effort around the post! Sakai manages to clear the eventual set piece, after brief pinball in the Hannover area!
The way that Hannover are set up in the second half certainly suggests that Slomka wants some spoils from this game. The away side look to have switched to a three at the back formation, and Bittencourt has been deployed as a free-roaming midfielder.
No luck for Bittencourt with his first touches of the ball against Dortmund! The youngster is muscled off the ball by Subotic, but the Serbian gives the ball away needlessly! The loose ball is centred, and Weidenfeller gets to it just before Sobiech!
HUSZTI! Prib whips in a dangerous ball from the left hand side, but the Hungarian can't find the target with a first time effort! He half volleys into the ground, and the ball loops over the bar.
The atmosphere is still excellent, despite the action on the field not yet matching the entertainment levels of the first half! Chants and drums constantly sound, this is an intimidating place to visit!
AUBAMEYANG! Narrowly side! Reus sees a shot blocked in the box, and the rebound spirals kindly to the former St Etienne forward, but he can't find the far corner! The ball flashed wide of the post, and a good chance goes begging for Dortmund.
A missed header by Sane allows for Mkhitaryan to play a delightful ball in between Schulz and the left-back, but the recovering defender manages to muscle Aubameyang off the ball, before clearing the danger. An excellent ball from the Armenian initially!
Not a high tempo start to the second half, with Hannover looking to hold onto the ball, and Dortmund reluctant to break in too much of a gung-ho fashion. A cagey start to proceedings in this second 45 minutes.
Eric Durm goes down heavily under a late challenge, as the left-back looked to take a knee to the groin. He'll be fine to continue however, that merely looked a bit of a sore one. The momentum from kick-off has diminished a little after that break in play!
We're back underway for the second half! Dortmund were impressive on the break in the first 45 minutes, but Hannover showed through a few late chances that they're not out of this game yet. Klopp looked troubled before disappeared down the tunnel at the break, so expect renewed vigour form the hosts!
With Dortmund having the better of the possession, and forcing Zieler to do a little more work than Weidenfeller, a slim lead for Klopp's side at the break is probably a just result. If the visitors can get a goal early in the second half, however, this game could easily be turned on its head.
Sobiech has had plenty of opportunities for the away side, with Prib and Sakai keen to get forward whenever possible. The pacey trio behind Lewandowski are yet to truly trouble Hannover on the break, but Aubameyang's athleticism has looked rather frightening at times.
There goes the half-time whistle! The players make their way off the pitch for the break, in what has been an all-action game so far! Marco Reus' breakthrough penalty goal remains the difference between the two side, but Hannover are by no means out of this yet.
45' + 1'
LEWANDOWSKI! Sahin tries his luck from range, testing Zieler, who spills the ball into the path of Lewandowski! The Polish striker almost gets there, but the Hannover goalkeeper is just able to smother the ball as the Dortmund hitman got a touch to the ball!
SOBIECH! The forward manages to hold off Subotic well, before unleashing a left-footed strike at Weidenfeller's near post, but the Polish international fails to get good contact on the ball! Really poor effort, given the circumstance.
Two minutes until the end of normal time in the first half, and Klopp might just hope that Dortmund can step up a gear and avoid conceding before the break. His side have been forced into some last ditch challenges in recent minutes, with Hannover looking rather threatening.
Good challenge from Bender! Two good interventions in as many minutes for the home side! The defensive midfielder stood up well to tackle Prib, who went down, but the referee rightfully spotted that there was nothing wrong with that tackle.
Good challenge from Subotic! Sakai was in full flight, cutting inside from the right as he approached the penalty box, but the Serbian slid in well to dispossess the Japanese full-back. That was a real chance for Hannover, Sobiech and Huszti were both waiting in the centre!
SOKRATIS! The Greek international rises highest, getting firm contact on the ball, but he fails to direct it. The ball bounces harmlessly wide of the post, and Zieler breaths a sigh of relief, his defenders got nowhere near that delivery.
Dortmund win a corner! Reus is picked out by a crossfield ball, but a defender manages to get a toe in ahead of the goalscorer, and the hosts have a set piece, which is taken short.
Coolly done by Subotic and Weidenfeller! The two exchange possession riskily on the edge of the box, with Sobiech hunting for the ball, but the goalkeeper is forced to clear wide to Grosskreutz. I'm not too sure that Klopp would be pleased if his side conceded through such needless risks!
Sokratis is penalised once again for a push on Sobiech, despite the challenge looking like a fair one. The free-kick arcs straight into the arms of Weidenfeller though, so no harm is done for Dortmund.
Excellent work from Durm! The full-back carries the ball at pace, and looks to shift the ball inside to Reus, allowing for his teammate to burst into the penalty area, but Reus miscontrols. Durm has been rather impressive in the first half thus far.
Good defensive header from Marcelo! The Brazilian nods away an intelligent ball from Lewandowski, as the Polish striker looked to chip the ball over Hannover's defensive line in search of the diminutive Reus.
Punched away by Weidenfeller! The free-kick comes to nothing, and allows his side to break with immense speed! Aubameyang plays a crossfield ball to Reus, but the momentum breaks down as Sakai intercepts a ball that was meant for Mkhitaryan.
Sokratis is penalised for a push on Sobiech, as the Grecian leaned into his marker rather blatantly. Hannover have a free-kick about 35 yards from goal, and will look to float the ball into a loaded penalty area.
Lewandowski, Sahin and Reus stand over the set piece, with the latter finally deciding to take it, but the strike is straight at Zieler, who doesn't even have to move. Hopefully today isn't reminiscent of when Reus had an awful day of the office versus Napoli in the Champions League, where he wasted countless free-kicks.
Yellow Card Salif Sané
Reus goes down on the edge of the penalty area, seemingly under a push from Marcelo, who is booked, and the home side have a free-kick in an extremely dangerous area on the edge of the box. There was no reason for the defender to tug on Reus' shirt there whatsoever.
GROSSKREUTZ! It's a good ball from the right-back, but Mkhitaryan isn't quite on the same wavelength, and can't quite stretch to control the ball ahead of the onrushing Zieler. Dortmund are getting forward plenty, but are lacking that cutting edge at the moment.
Well claimed by Weidenfeller! The crowd behind the goal cheer raucously, as their goalkeeper plucks the ball out of the air with consummate ease. Zieler does the same merely moments later, as Durm's floating cross fails to meet the head of Lewandowski.
Excellent defending from Pocognoli! The Belgian tracks back wonderfully to dispossess Grosskreutz, who is blessed with almost every trait and attribute possible for a professional footballer, minus pace. The away side break, and win a corner as a Sobiech shot is blocked.
Signal Iduna Park is rocking, with the famous yellow wall of Dortmund support making quite a racket behind Weidenfeller's goal. It's been a reassuring first half an hour for Klopp's side, they've been able to utilise the quality of their forward four, as well as remaining resilient to the counter-attacks of Hannover.
Prib cuts inside after receiving a throw-in from Pocognoli, but his intended incisive pass through to Sobiech is overhit, and Weidenfeller collects. The Hannover captain is having the most creative influence on his side, but they're yet to create a clear cut opportunity.
Things aren't quite going as planned for the away side at the moment, as tenacious tracking back from the likes of Reus and Aubameyang is allowing for Dortmund to hunt effectively in packs. Hannover are struggling to get any kind of meaningful possession.
AUBAMEYANG! The lightning-paced striker manages to beat Pocognoli to a loose ball that he had no right to catch up with, but his first time cross finds its way into the hands of Zieler rather than to the boot of Lewandowski.
A very exciting start to this game, it must be said. Attack is the only thing on the minds of both sides when they are in possession, and the pace of Sobiech is causing one or two problems for Subotic. Hannover haven't had a great deal of the ball, but certainly aren't harmless.
REUS! Good work from Lewandowski at the edge of the penalty area with his back to goal provides Reus with the chance to get his second of the night, but Sakai puts in a block to deflect the ball behind for a corner. Subotic manages to meet the eventual set piece delivery, but it goes wide.
GROSSKREUTZ! The right-back somehow finds himself in the Hannover penalty area, and tries to thrash a right-footed volley towards goal, though the Dortmund man is clearly conscious of raising his foot too high. The crowd cry for handball, as the strike cannons of Pocognoli, but nothing is given.
Dortmund want a free-kick, after a flailing arm from Marcelo catches Lewandowski in the mouth, but the referee chooses to ignore the incident, but lectures both players. Lewandowski isn't too happy!
The battle between Sakai and Durm is already showing itself to be a key match-up in this game, with both players looking to get forward at every given opportunity. As promised, this is a very open and high tempo fixture.
PRIB! The captain centres the ball in search of Sobiech, but pulls the ball back instead of firing it across the six yard box, which completely misses his intended target! Poor delivery, in earnest.
Good tenacity from Sakai! The Japanese international looks to sidestep past the presence of Subotic at the byline, but under immense pressure manages to run the ball out of play. Durm has been given plenty of work to do down Dortmund's left already.
Fantastic ball from Sahin! The Turkey international plays an eye of the needle ball in search of Lewandowski who had peeled off Marcelo, but Zieler is quick off his line to race out and clear the danger before it materialised!
Finally, a composed passage of play for the hosts, who have spent the majority of the early stages looking for quick transitions to catch out the visitors. Mkhitaryan is already looking dangerous and inventive in behind Lewandowski.
SOBIECH! The Polish international shakes himself free of Subotic on the turn, but can only fire a left-footed effort straight towards Weidenfeller, who pats it down and claims at the second attempt.
Good interception from Stindl, the away side's captain for the afternoon. Lewandowski is stood up by Pocognoli, but escapes his marker and whips in a cross towards the near post, which Stindl puts behind for a corner. The resulting set piece comes to nothing.
DURM! The left-back tries his luck from 35 yards audaciously, but sees his effort spiral harmlessly out of play for a goal kick. A wasted opportunity there from the youngster, the box was loaded with yellow shirts, but he instead opted to go for glory.
Unlucky for Prib! A lovely passage of play from Hannover from left to right provides the number seven with the chance to take the ball down on the edge of the box, but his first touch lets him down.
Yellow Card Artur Sobiech
Sobiech and Huszti combine well as Hannover look to break, but the Polish forward miscontrols and is then forced to lunge in to recover possession from Sahin. It's a poor challenge from the forward, and he is rightly booked.
The perfect start for Dortmund, and their fans are loving how this game has panned out! Mkhitaryan looks to thread a ball through to Lewandowski, but Marcelo steps in smartly to take the intended pass.
GROSSKREUTZ! The makeshift right-back whips in a testing cross, but Zieler is quick off his line to take the delivery off of the head of Lewandowski, who got up well!
Penalty Goal Marco Reus
REUS! GOOOOAL! The left winger converts the penalty, leaving Zieler with little chance! A great finish from the Germany international, and Dortmund have the perfect start to the game!
Yellow Card Hiroki Sakai
Reus, to Durm! PENALTY! DORTMUND! The referee points to the spot, and Sakai has brought down Durm after the youngster plays a one-two with Reus! A possibly great start for the home side!
And we are underway! A good atmosphere as is exemplary in this stadium, and we should see plenty of attacking wit and guile this afternoon! A very offensive line-up from Jurgen Klopp, but it remains to be seen whether the trifecta behind Lewandowski can be effective!
We're only a few minutes from kick-off at Signal Iduna Park now, with both teams gathering to make their way onto the pitch. The styles of both teams promise an interesting match-up, and both teams are looking to correct themselves after a poor result last time out.
The combination of Reus, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Lewandowski should provide Dortmund with plenty of fluidity and creativity going forward, which could allow for some interesting counter-attacking football. With Hannover also keen to break when possible, this could be a rather open match.
Both sides occupy reasonable positions in the fledgling Bundesliga table, with Dortmund in third and Hannover in fifth, but neither outfit is enjoying the best form of late. The visitors have only picked up one win in their last five games, and will be hoping to put up firmer resistance against one of Germany's most reputable sides this afternoon.
Hannover substitutes: Schmeidebach, Schlaudraff, Miller, Hoffmann, Nikci, Kadah, Bittencourt.
Hannover starting line-up: Zieler; Sakai, Marcelo, Schulz, Pocognoli; Stindl, Andreasen, Sane, Prib; Sobiech, Huszti.
Dortmund substitutes: Hofmann, Blaszczykowski, Langerak, Kirch, Schieber, Schmelzer, Gunter.
Dortmund starting line-up: Weidenfeller; Durm, Subotic, Sokratis, Subotic, Grosskreutz; Sahin, Bender; Reus, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang; Lewandowski.
TEAM NEWS: Dortmund's two high-profile offensive summer signings start today, with the home sides' own Bittencourt on the substitutes bench for the visitors due to his loan deal. Both outfits are strong, with plenty of attacking prowess on show for the hosts.
I'm Simon Harrison, and I will be the man tasked with keeping you up to date with all of the events from Signal Iduna Park this Saturday afternoon, with Jurgen Klopp's men hoping to bounce back from their league defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach last time out. Hannover have been good on the road thus far, so this game should promise some excitement.
Hello and welcome to Borussia Dortmund versus Hannover 96, with last years Champions League finalists looking to keep the pace with Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the embryonic Bundesliga table.
