Live Commentary

  • Hope you enjoyed it as much as me folks, see you next time!
  • A point in the bag for both sides, an a match that sows the seeds of competitive fire and bad blood excellently ahead of the Champions League final. Grosskreutz and Gomez took care of the scoring in the first half, but there was a lot more entertainment, if not goals, after the break. Dortmund's soft penalty and Lewandowski's miss, Rafinha's knucklehead elbow and red card, and a whole lot of insults probably traded that the mics did not pick up. Roll on Wembley!
  • 90' + 3'
And we end a surprisingly short two-minute stoppage time period. FULL TIME FOLKS.
  • 90' + 2'
Substitution Luiz Gustavo Pierre Emil Højbjerg
  • 90' + 2'
Shaqiri with a last hopeful punt upfield that Muller chases down - he's not going to get there ahead of Weidenfeller. That may be it!
  • 90' + 1'
We're into our first of two added minutes as Bayern prepare a change - Alaba for Hojbjerg.
  • 90'
Corner for the home side. Sahin wins it off Tymo, who seems to have paid an extra price for his bravery. He's down on the deck, that shot from Sahin knocked a few bolts loose upstairs.
  • 88'
SCHIEBER...YOU DISAPPOINT ME. I find your lack of first-touch disturbing. Reus' pass had you one-on-one with the keeper, and yet you bundled the ball off your left foot and into Neuer's arms? I bet plenty of BVB fans in the stadium are force-choking you with their minds right now.
  • 86'
OOOOH Van Buyten had to stand tall there! Grosskreutz had whipped in a very good cross towards the six-yard box, Lewandowski was rising, but Van Buyten's extra inches count for a lot, as he manages to cushion the ball back to Neuer!
  • 85'
    Yellow Card Emre Can
  • 84'
    Substitution Jakub Blaszczykowski Sven Bender
  • 84'
And that's Kuba' last contribution of an eventful afternoon - on comes Sven Bender in his stead.
  • 84'
Excellent concentration from Kuba...Shaqiri tries to sell him a series of fakes and shimmies, but the Pole is not falling for any of it! He forced the Swiss winger into a safety-first pass back. That's how you lock down a flank!
  • 82'
Closing time here at the Westfalenstadion - and the bragging rights are very much up for grabs. How do you think that this will play out? Get talking on our match centre chat box, or connect directly with me on Twitter @keeghann. I want to hear from you Bundesliga fans!
  • 80'
Shaqiri picks up a long pass out of defence, and cuts back to Tymoshuck about 30 yards from goal. I can't remember if he was a good sniper from range back in his Shakhtar days, but preductably, his speculative blast never enters reality and flies into the stratosphere.
  • 78'
Can throws the ball away with a slack pass, an d Schmelzer is on it. He plays in Schieber (he's still playing!?) who drags his shot badly across goal - as threatening as a lollipop in the hands of a child.
  • 77'
TRY AGAIN LEWA! Everyone in black and yellow appeal for a penalty after the striker goes down in a tussle with Boateng. But replays show that the Pole was just as guilty, if not more, than the defender of a bit of 'rassling.
  • 76'
    Substitution Claudio Pizarro Thomas Müller
  • 76'
Pizarro has gone off to a chorus of whistles to be replaces by Muller. Big guns starting to be flexed by both coaches!
  • 75'
Anyway back to events on the pitch. Bayern are really just trying to take the sting out of Dortmund's tail. They would take the draw as things stand! Dortmund are flying around like madmen, fueled with plenty of belly-fire by this raucous Westfalenstadion crowd!
  • 73'
A couple of you had chimed in earlier about my call for Bayern's goal. Let me clarify: No, Grosskreutz was not actually picking his nose. It was a metaphor for the trance that one might go into when trying to fish out a particularly meaty nostril nugget - such was his lack of reaction to the run of goalscorer Gomez. Good thing he wasn't really digging for gold, these HD cameras nowadays do not leave anything to the imagination!
  • 71'
    Substitution Sebastian Kehl Marco Reus
  • 71'
Kehl off, Reus on. BVB clearly going for this! If you could hear the noise that this stadium is making, I don't think they would accept anything less!
  • 70'
Segun Agbaje on Twitter: "This whole drama just makes the final even tastier! Cannot wait!" No complaints there sir, some real bad blood brewing! Get in touch on Twitter @keeghann to send me your thoughts!
  • 68'
The game back to some semblance of normalcy now. But the fans have been roused in defence of their team! Meanwhile, in case you missed it, Kuba was also booked in that ruckus, and more recently, Gomez has made way for Can.
  • 67'
    Substitution Mario Gomez Emre Can
  • 67'
Jurgen Klopp is absolutely losing his mind on the touchline. He looks like he wants to beat Rafinha into a bloody pulp. Clearly not happy about that incident!
  • 66'
Right folks, I want to hear from you? What do you think about the drama unfolding on the pitch all of a sudden? Get in touch on Twitter @keeghann!
  • 64'
    Yellow Card Jakub Blaszczykowski
  • 64'
    Yellow/Red Rafinha
RAFINHA OFF! No surprise that the Brazilian is given his marching orders! I know a lot of Dortmund fans have wanted to punch out Kuba at one time or another for his profligacy at times, but you can't do that on the pitch!
  • 64'
BOOM! Rafinha takes out Kuba with a nasty elbow right to the chops. Grosskreutz falls in agony - whether real or perceived. What is clear though is that Rafinha was dirty as hell with that elbow. Both sets of players come together! We have a ruckus people!
  • 62'
    Yellow Card Rafinha
  • 62'
Rafinha booked for going right through Schieber. The game is blood and thunder all over the pitch!
  • 60'
    Penalty save Manuel Neuer
NEUER KEEPS IT OUT! Low and hard to the left went Lewandowski's kick, but so did the Bayern No 1. Booyaka!
  • 60'
    Missed Penalty Robert Lewandowski
  • 60'
SANTANA! The defender nearly puts the cat right back amongst the pidgeons with a thumping header from the resulting corner, but it goes over! Breathe Bayern...in and out...
  • 58'
Schmelzer had all tie time in the world on the left, and picks out a low cross into the area. Sahin takes a swing at it, doesn't connect cleanly, and Boateng takes it on the shoulder/upper arm. But the referee calls for handball! Soft serve ice cream that call!
  • 58'
    PENALTY DORTMUND!
  • 56'
Nils Jonsson on Twitter: "Completely loving your updates! Keep em' coming!" See, that makes it all worthwhile! Thank you Nils.
  • 54'
AND A FOURTH TIME...crossing into the area for Gomez - who scores from exactly this type of scenario, 12 yards out on the turn - but Subotic this time does excellently to take the ball off his toes!
  • 54'
Johnny Bravo Shaqiri is certainly picking it up on the right flank! He's beaten Santana about three times in the last minute alone.
  • 52'
Subotic is a bit of a lucky boy ... losing his footing right into Pizarro, who then goes down, but the ref decides against penalising his clumsiness! Play on, no penalty!
  • 50'
Rather tepid stuff to start the second half, both sides probably loosed one too many buttons over the break. Pick it up people!
  • 48'
Dortmund keeping up the pressure around Bayern territory to start the half. Remember to use our match chat box to the right hand side, or get in touch with yours truly on Twitter @keeghann for any thoughts or comments on the game!
  • 46'
    Here we go again!
  • The match may be lacking in a bit of real-world consequence, but there's still been plenty to keep us entertained on the pitch. Kevin Grosskreutz opened the scoring with a superb volley full on from a cross. Let that sink in for a second. Far more typical was Mario Gomez' equaliser, a measured finish from close range after the defence fell asleep. 1-1 is the score at the half, and to me honest, this game can go either way. Second half in just a bit, so stay tuned!
  • 45' + 2'
Neuer punches clear a cross under pressure from Lewandowski, and that's it for the first half.
  • 45' + 1'
    Yellow Card Jerome Boateng
The free kick is butted out by Santana, and Dortmund are off on one of their patented breaks! But Boateng takes one for the team, cutting through Kuba right on the centre circle to halt the attack. The referee obliges with a yellow card.
  • 45'
One minute of added time to finish up this half ... and Bayern have a free kick in a good position on the right.
  • 44'
GOMEZ DENIED! The forward lucks into controlling a square pass by Alaba, then shows far more dexterity to dink on the inside of Schmelzer. TOOR, TOOR, but no! Weidenfeller gets off his line quickly to block his sliding finish!
  • 42'
Shaqiri's built like a pitbull, but even he can't shake off Sahin, who looks like he's trying to dance when trying to win the ball. Clear foul conceded by the Dortmund man.
  • 40'
Sahin takes aim ... and skies it into orbit. Blaaah.
  • 39'
    Yellow Card Luiz Gustavo
Gustavo leaves that left peg hanging in waaaay to long. Schmelzer goes head-first into the turf. Yellow for the Brazilian - and a free kick in a decent spot!
  • 37'
Events on the pitch are rather tame and timid. No one really seems in any hurry to force the issue. Couldn't the DFB throw up a bogus match-fixing charge on Bayern just for today, dock them 20 points, drop all charges tomorrow, so we could have a truly gripping game on our hands with consequence?
  • 35'
Some Twitter stuff coming in from Cyril: "Gutted to see Gundogan subbed hope he doesn't miss the final!" Echoing the thoughts of many BVB fans - the side looks so much more fluid with him on the ball in midfield. He's really come a long way from those deer-in-the-headlight games that made up his first six months at the club in the 2011-12 season.
  • 33'
That Bayern back-four looks as composed as Samuel L Jackson holding a gun on the big screen. Kuba and Lewa have come really close in the last two minutes to nicking the ball off their toes.
  • 31'
LEWAAAAANDOWSKI!! ALMOST! The Pole goes slicing and dicing past the Boateng-Van Buyten great-wall of a central defence, and tries to put the cherry on top with a clip over Neuer, but the keeper has spread himself just enough to make the save!
  • 29'
Shot of a ball-boy looking suspiciously like Mr. Gotze there. Dortmund just keep them coming! Let's hope he doesn't have a release clause given who's in the house tonight...
  • 27'
Remember to get in touch on Twitter @keeghann to let me know your thoughts on the game! Can Bayern end their five-match winless run against Dortmund? Let me know!
  • 25'
Surprisingly muted celebration from Gomez and Bayern there, mind. A sneaky bit of arrogance from the visitors, perhaps considering such matches with the other troglodytes of the Bundesliga beneath them?
  • 23'
    Assist Rafinha
  • 23'
    Goal Mario Gomez
I should just shut my mouth. Rafinha clips a harmless ball into the six-yard box. Subotic is supremely lazy trying to cut out the ball, and Grosskreutz, on the far side, just stands there picking his nose. Gomez doesn't think twice, he streaks through the pair and guides the ball easily into the far side!
  • 23'
    BAYERN LEVEL IT UP!
  • 21'
Let's give a shout out to Kevin Grosskreutz's game so far! Apart from that wonder-goal out of nowhere, his defence has been stellar, winning a few battles with Alaba and Shaqiri already!
  • 19'
Apart from that earlier opening from Shaqiri that again, he really should have buried, Bayern have looked rather toothless. Klopp's boys look like that got their full eight hours last night, their pressing of the man on the ball is relentless!
  • 17'
Thoughts, comments or wisecracks? I want to hear it all from you, our readers! Get chirping in the match chat box, or get in touch with me directly on Twitter @keeghann.
  • 16'
Surely this has to be a precaution for Gundogan? He did not look to be limping too badly...but understandably, Jurgen Klopp will not want to risk his absence in the far more crucial rematch between these two sides at Wembley on May 25.
  • 14'
    Substitution Ilkay Gündogan Moritz Leitner
It seems that poor old Ilkay has picked up a knock in the process. Injury added to insult as far as BVB are concerned. Leitner is quickly on the pitch to replace him.
  • 13'
PENALLL...NOO! Gundogan collects a decent flick from Lewandowski and is suddenly one-on-one with Neuer. But he gets barged in the back by Contento and goes down. A 50-50 call that...not too much contact, but Gundogan had little reason to go down, he was fully clear of the last defender!
  • 11'
    Assist Jakub Blaszczykowski
  • 11'
    Goal Kevin Großkreutz
WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!?! Who knew that Grosskreutz had that in him? Kuba puts a peach of a cross in towards the far post and Grosskreutz, playing as a right-back today, comes streaming forward and rips a fantastic volley full into the roof of the net from about 10 yards!
  • 11'
    DORTMUND SCORE!!!
  • 10'
    Yellow Card Anatoliy Tymoshchuk
  • 10'
In the meantime, Tymo takes out Lewandowski on the left flank, and picks up the first booking of the game.
  • 9'
SHAQIRI you troglodyte! That should have been 1-0 to Bayern! Pizarro releases the Swiss winger with a delightful through ball. Now picture this - Shaqiri, onside, behind the last defender, advancing from the right, with Gomez and Alaba in the box for support. Instead of crossing quickly, he dallies, and allows Schmelzer to get back and block his shot.
  • 7'
Kehl gets FLATTENED by Gustavo, who clearly doesn't want the Dortmund captain advancing more than 40 yards form his own goal. That's how you put the fear of god into people Rafinha! The law still stands though, free-kick to BVB.
  • 5'
And the award for the leas intimidating mean mug goes to...Rafinha! The Brazilian tries to pull some tough guy stuff in the direction of Schmelzer after a little coming together for a loose ball. As scary as a teenager flexing at the gym.
  • 3'
This could well be the Champions League final already, for all we know - the fans are screaming their lungs out! Fairly unremarkable stuff on the pitch so far though, both sides understandably feeling each other out still.
  • 1'
The ref has blown the whistle and here we go!
  • Kickoff is seconds away...and I want your predictions! Get talking on the chat section to the right of the commentary, or send your comments in to me directly on Twitter @keeghann!
  • Bayern have not beaten Dortmund in the last five games. Today's game has little bearing on the league standings, with both teams a lock for first and second, but the Westfalenstadion is packed to the rafters, with 80 645 fans making a hell of a racket all around.
  • Dortmund's XI more resembles their first choice lineup, though guys like Julian Schieber and Felipe Santana have little chance of starting against Bayern again in a few weeks time should everyone be fit and firing.
  • With the exception of Manuel Neuer, Bayern have pretty much fielded their second-string side here today. Mind you, this side can still probably beat the rest of the Bundesliga into a pulp if necessary...with the exception of BVB of course.
  • BAYERN (4-2-3-1): Neuer - Rafinha, Van Buyten, Boateng, Contento - Tymoshchuk, Gustavo - Shaqiri, Pizarro, Alaba - Gomez.
  • DORTMUND (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller - Grosskreutz, Subotic, Santana, Schmelzer - Kehl, Sahin - Blaszczykowski, Gundogan, Schieber - Lewandowski.
  • My name is Keeghann Sinanan, and I'll be bringing you the play-by-play today. So stay tuned, the lineups are imminent...
  • Today's clash needs no introduction. But I'm going to do it anyway. The Bundesliga's proudest sons take aim at each other here today, at the Westfalenstadion in a dress rehearsal of the biggest game of them all - the Champions League final. Thanks for joining us at Goal.com.
