The goalkeeper did well to stop Sankoh's penalty, but had one particularly inexplicable accident, when he collided with Hummels in the first half. Aside the from that, he had a decent game.
The youngster had an assured, yet timid performance as he impressed at the back, but did not really offer anything breathtaking in attack until the final minutes of the game.
The Polish defender bounced back from his awful performance in midweek with a fine game against Augsburg. Made one mistake in the second half in the build-up to the penalty, but generally did well at the back. Linked up superbly with Kuba and was a threat from set-piece.
The already mention collision with Weidenfeller was the only black spot in the Germany international's performance. Distributed the ball well, and read the play superbly.
The Brazilian centre-half was in superb form, making a stunning clearance to deny Brinkmann off the line with a header in the first half. Completed the astonish 88 passes with 94.32 per cent efficiency. A tower of power in the air.
Had relatively good game until a very, very poor challenge on Molders resulted in a penalty, highlighting his deficiencies in the defensive department. Passed the ball really well on the rare occasions he was in possession.
'Kuba' started off slowly, but began to improve as the game progressed. Assisted the opener, and combined well with Piszczek on the flank.
The Croatian did not receive much support from Lowe down the flank, and was isolated from the game for large periods. Still, he looked dangerous whenever on the ball, and if not for a superb intervention by Werner would have scored with a sublime flick in the 64th minute.
The midfielder enforcer is still working his way back to fitness and it showed. Did not look assured in his tackling in the first half, but improved after the break. Kept it simple on the ball, and hassled the opposition constantly.
One of his best performance of the season. Assisted the second goal, the fourth, and scored the third with a sublime chip. Unplayable in his preferred position in the centre of the attacking trident, and an absolute nightmare for Augsburg's defence in this match.
The Polish striker is often criticised for missing chances, but in this match proved he know how to find the net. Bagged a hat-trick and assisted Gotze's goal with a sublime pass over the defence. His best performance of the season.
Let down by his defence, but in truth could have done better to prevent the second and the fourth goal. Pulled off some immense saves on Gotze in both halves, however, and can not be blamed for the loss in this game.
Chased Perisic like a shadow, and one lapse of concentration could have cost his team a goal, but Werner managed to save Augsburg with a clearance from the goal-line in the 64th minute. Otherwise was solid in defence, but offered very little in attack.
Was very good in open play, but was downright helpless when it came to set-pieces. Was caught in no man's land for the second and the fourth goal, and looked a bit slow at times.
Comical defending by the centre-half resulted in the first and the third goal and on top of it all missed a penalty with the result locked at 2-0. Was given the run-around by Gotze throughout the whole match.
Nearly scored with a looping header in the first half in what proved to be the pick of his performance in this game. Received a lot of the ball in the first half, but failed to conjure any magic to drive his team forward.
Probably the best Augsburg player in this match. The Edgar Davids relative had a storming game as he gave Dortmund a run for their money in midfield. Defender like a terrier, passed the ball well, and was inspirational in the centre of the pitch.
M. de Jong
Replaced in the first half after picking up an injury.
The Bayer Leverkusen loanee failed to impress and one could hardly tell if he was on the pitch until he nearly crippled Christian Lowe with an awful tackle. A disappointing game by the Japanese, who despite completing all of his 17 passes, could not influence the game.
Relied too much on mistakes by Dortmund's defence, and failed to show initiative. Exhibited explosiveness and skill down the flank, but was not a constant threat. Played a key role in the chance that led to the penalty for Jos Luhukay's Augsburg.
Could not influence the game in any way as he was shut out by Hummels, Santana and Bender. Replaced by Sebastian Langkamp after the break.
The striker was given precious little support in this match, but yet failed to make most of his opportunities. A game to forget for the player.
- 20 M. Langerak
- 4 N. Subotić
- 23 S. Kagawa
- 5 S. Kehl
Given some time to impress after replacing Gotze.
Antônio da Silva
A late substitute for Ilkay Gundogan.
The Paraguayan is still rusty as obvious from his inexplicably clumsy turn in the 82nd minute, which wasted a superb chance for the reigning Bundesliga champions.
- 30 M. Amsif
Failed to impress in his short cameo.
Substitution for Daniel Bauer, but could not do better than the starter.
- 6 J. De Roeck
- 28 A. Gogia
Came on for Marcel de Jong, and had some trouble dealing with Kuba, Piszczek and Piszczek down the flank in the first half, but stepped up his game in the second period. Denied Perisic with a great clearance in the 64th minute.
