Eelco Schattorie has several injury worries but seems determined to continue their purple patch...

Bengaluru FC will host United Sports Club in an I-League round three match on Sunday.

Bengaluru FC are still unbeaten in their first ever I-League campaign and are fresh from a resounding win over Rangdajied United. They have our points from their two matches and a win in this match will guarantee them the pole position.

Ashley Westwood, the gaffer of the side however stressed that the team needs to keep its feet grounded despite their good start to the season.

"We look forward to these kind of games. There has been loads of improvement but are not getting carried away. Also, we aren’t really bothered about the table. If we play the way we plan, the table will take care of itself,” Westwood remarked.

For the hosts, Thoi Singh returns in the midfield after missing the Rangdajied game with a booking. Winger Malemnganba Meitei too has resumed training after a bout of flu kept him out of the game last weekend.

Talking about the away side, Eelco Schattorie's men have an uphill task before them as a number of key players are unavailable for the fixture. Lalkamal Bhowmick, the elegant playmaker suffered an injury in the team's practice session in Barasat and has not travelled with the team.

Tapan Maity has not yet recovered from the knock he endured against Rangdajied United two weeks ago. Adding to Eelco's woes, Anupam Sarkar fractured his nose in the practice session on the eve of the match. Problems don't end here as C.K.Vineeth is down with flu. This may leave United with very little options and even a few empty seats on the bench.

“This game will be our biggest challenge yet. In football, it’s most important to find stability in a team. With all the troubles that we have been through we were not able to form the strongest possible team yet. Two games into the league, we lost 2 key players on the midfield that makes our situation more difficult. Tapan who is like the glue for the team we lost after our first game and we lost our creativity in midfielder with a serious injury for Lalkamal.

"We have 6 points and that what should keep the confidence high for the team. Everyone is working hard and is committed to get 3 points here,” said the coach before the match.

It certainly promises to be an exciting encounter with all tickets reportedly being sold out 72 hours before the match.
