  • The debut of Benteke had given Villa more options as he was able to effectively pair with Bent and conducted a series of clever link-up play. It was a dream debut for former Genk striker as he was able to deliver a clever finish after a defensive mishap from Swansea.
  • Swansea City looked promising during the first half but Lambert got his tactics spot on as Villa were able to prevent Laudrup's men from hitting the back of the net. The Swans lost their edge in the second half as Villa improved their creativity going forward.
