Pailan Arrows will have benefited from a break of sorts as their Round 11 fixture against Mohun Bagan was postponed owing to the Mariners' involvement in disciplinary proceedings that followed the Kolkata Derby.
The Arrows will look to pick up from where they left off when they trounced ONGC FC 4-1 in Round 10 of the league. They now face a Dempo side who are smarting after they were handed a reality check at home when Pune FC handed them a 5-1 defeat. Arthur Papas' side will need to use this opportunity well as Dempo looked suspect against the pace of James Moga and Khanthang Paite.
The likes of Holicharan Narzary and Alwyn George posses the talent and trickery to unsettle even the most experienced defenders. However the Kolkata side also have to be aware that Armando Colaco's side will be baying for blood after the Pune defeat and the Arrows are in the firing line.
It's not everyday that Dempo coach Armando Colaco would see his side ship in 5 goals during a game. What's interesting is that they followed up a poor performance against Pune by letting another five goals against Salgaocar FC in the Goa Football League match.
Pune FC gave the reigning champions a wake-up call to remind them that there were no easy matches in the league. Colaco's men now face a Pailan Arrows team who are arguably the more energetic side given that they had a break last weekend.
The 59-year old Goan will no doubt be making changes to the team that lost to Pune as he attempts to guide his team to a victory against one of the I-League's most attack-minded sides.
Pailan Arrows– Arthur Papas does not have any fresh injury concerns and is likely to field the same side that beat ONGC.
Dempo SC – Anthony Perreira, Mahesh Gawli, Ryuji Sueoka, Rohan Ricketts and Cresson Antao are doubtful for this game due to injuries. Selwyn Fernandes or youngster Shallum Pires might be drafted into the heart of the Dempo defence.
