FULL TIME!!! Ajax 0-4 Real Madrid!!! Jose Mourinho's men vanquish the Dutch, who never ever looked like threatening the dominance of Los Blancos!! Thanks for joining us for the action, on Goal.com!!
90' + 1'
Into injury time now, and despite a strange double dismissal, Madrid will be thoroughly pleased with a professional evening's work. Literally seconds remaining.
ANOTHER RED CARD!! SERGIO RAMOS!!! What a truly bizarre end to this match. The defender had already been booked, but he too looks to have walked for time wasting!!! Madrid 4-0 up, but down to nine men!
Vertonghen jumps with Casillas, which is as about as close Ajax have got to him all evening, but the referee gives a free kick, and their misery is almost over.
RED CARD!!!! XABI ALONSO! The midfielder is given a second yellow card for what looks to be time-wasting. An utterly needless decision, but Los Blancos will play the final stages with ten!
Yellow CardRaúl Albiol
Mourinho's men have sent a real message to Barcelona this evening with this victory, but also to the rest of the tournament - are Real Madrid ready to break their second-round duck with the Portuguese at the helm?
Into the closing stages now, and the final whistle can't come quick enough now for the home side, who have been completely blown away. This result was never in doubt from Benzema's deadlock breaker on 36 minutes.
Penalty GoalCristiano Ronaldo
GOOOALLLL!!!! Cristiano Ronaldo converts the penalty kick with his trademark aplomb, and the humiliation is complete for Ajax. 4-0 to rampant Real!
PENALTY TO REAL MADRID!!!! Foul on Oezil inside the area from Emanuelson, and the referee points to the spot....
Siem de Jong
OEZIL!!!! Almost a fourth goal for Real Madrid!! Ronaldo allows the German free kick duty on this occasion, and his curling effort is to Stekelenburg's side, but the keeper does well to beat it to safety. Ajax need to avoid a further hammering here.
Ronaldo now producing a bit of needless showboating, but it shows just how superior the away side have been. Ajax haven't been in the best form recently, and it has been evident tonight.
Real Madrid have been clinical, and efficient in their attacks tonight, and have managed to pick off the now demoralised hosts at will. Jose Mourinho's side have the perfect tonic with El Clasico just six days away.
AssistÁngel Di María
RONALDO SCORES!!!Emmanuelson gives the ball away to Di Maria, who has just came on, and he feeds CR7, who this time shows consummate composure to slot the ball past Stekelenburg. 3-0 to Los Blancos!
GOOOALLLL!!!!!! 3-0 TO REAL MADRID, AND THAT'S GAME OVER!!!
Yellow CardXabi Alonso
Ángel Di María
De Zeeuw drags a shot well wide of the target, and the Ajax players look to the bench to see the quicksilver Angel Di Maria ready to run at them in the closing stages.
Suarez is cutting a frustrated figure as the match wears on. He has got little change out of Ramos and Albiol tonight, and without their talisman in full flow, the Dutch have been unable to get going.
Yellow CardCristiano Ronaldo
Yellow CardDemy de Zeeuw
Indeed, the referee books Ronaldo and De Zeeuw for their altercation just after the incident. It seems pretty needless from CR7, because the match appears all but over at this stage, unless Ajax produce something very special.
Ronaldo is unhappy at a tackle from Enoh as the ball had gone, and the Portuguese lets him know his feeling. A small, but easily contained, skirmish breaks out.
Very poor from the Uruguayan, straight into the heart of the wall, and is atypical of the performance of the team so far.
Free kick to Ajax on the edge of the area, after good play from Suarez - his best moment of the night. What can the Dutch side make of this set piece?
Benzema, who has looked really dangerous tonight, is found on the edge of the area by Alonso, and a neat shimmy later he is in a shooting position, but blazes his effort over. You feel Madrid could score when they want, at the moment, anyway.
Ajax are in danger of letting Real Madrid pass them into submission at the moment. They can't get the ball, and when they do, the visitors counter attack with pace.
RONALDO!!!! Should have added a third!!! The Portuguese sprinted away from the Ajax back line, who were static again, but struck straight at Stekelenburg, who showed excellent reflexes to tip over the crossbar. More of the same here from the Spaniards.
Home boss Jol had to change something, and he has opted to remove El Hamdaoui who in fairness was completely anonymous in the first half.
Mounir El Hamdaoui
Demy de Zeeuw
The sides are back out here and we are back underway. A gargantuan task awaits Ajax, it must be said. Martin Jol will have had stern words, but his team were frankly outplayed in the opening 45 minutes.
45' + 1'
It is indeed half-time. Ajax are heading out of the tournament at the moment at the hands of a rampant Real Madrid. Join us in fifteen for more of the action!!
That goal could have killed off Ajax, and it must be said that Real Madrid have been hugely impressive this evening. Heading into injury time.
GOOOALLLLL!!!!! ARBELOA MAKES IT TWO FOR REAL MADRID!!! Ronaldo's free-kick deflects backwards to the full-back, and he lashes the ball into the corner from all of thirty yards! What a great effort from an unlikely source!!
Benzema stopped in his tracks by Alderweireld on the edge of the area. Well within Ronaldo's range.
Once again Benzema and Oezil play nicely off each other, but this time the German is offside. Good link up play again between the two.
Well-deserved lead for Los Blancos, and a fine move, too, to break the deadlock. It's a long way back from here for Ajax, who, in truth have not turned up.
Yellow CardEyong Enoh
Yellow CardSergio Ramos
Benzema and Ozil have linked on more than one occasion now, and this time, the former has another effort from the edge of the area, but Stekelenburg is well behind the strike
Ajax have been hugely disappointing from an attacking point of view this evening. Jol's side have literally been nowhere near Casillas' goal, and the Spanish giants are more than comfortable.
Ronaldo again runs at Van Der Wiel, but his touch deserts him at the last moment, and the Dutch international intercepts. CR7 coming more into the game, though.
Xabi Alonso gets to his feet gingerly after a clash in the centre of the pitch, but he looks ok to continue, and moments later he is back involved in the action. Not much happening in either penalty area, to be fair
More dangerous play from Benzema, cutting in off the wing, but he runs into traffic and can only scuff his effort wide of the post.
Ronaldo launches in his first trademark strike of the evening, but it rises, and continues to rise, high into the stand behind the goal.
El Hamdaoui finds space in the area, but the Madrid line steps up well, and he is clearly offside. Needs to get more involved here, the number nine, from an Ajax perspective.
PENALTY? NO! Ronaldo goes down under what was, it has to be said, a clumsy challenge from Van Der Wiel, but the referee isn't interested at all. A decent claim, that.
BENZEMA!!!!! The Frenchman took the ball into his stride well, and from a tight angle unleashed a vicious shot that a mixture of Stekelenberg and the post kept out. Good play from the former Lyon man, and the first real chance of the match.
Ajax definitely lacking fluency at the moment. It is clear that the match is of more significance to them, and some of their passing has been sloppy.
Suarez is attempting to cause the Madrid defence problems, making his presence felt, but Albiol is standing firm, in a rare appearance for the Spaniard this season.
Too many Ajax attacks breaking down all too prematurely at the minute. El Hamdaoui is not holding the ball up sufficiently.
Ajax need to be careful at the moment, Arbeloa is getting forward all too easily on the right hand side on the overlap, and his runs aren't being tracked. A good, positive start from Mourinho's men.
OZIL!!! Chance at the back post for the German, as Leon's cross broke nicely to him, but he took too long to shape his body, and in the end his effort was blocked. More good play from los Blancos though.
Madrid look like a side who have yet to lose a match so far this season. Despite the new personnel, they are spraying the ball around nicely at the moment.
A lively start from both sides. An early little cameo from Cristiano Ronaldo, but his run was stopped swiftly in its tracks.
Underway here. Let's see if Ajax can give the group leaders a tough evening.
Now, as expected, a much-changed Real Madrid:Casillas; Sergio Ramos; Arbeloa, Albiol, Marcelo; Lass Diarrá, Xabi Alonso, Özil; Pedro león, Cristiano Ronaldo; Benzema.
Ok, the Ajax side lines up as follows: Stekelenburg; Van der Wiel, Anderweireld, Vertonghen, Anita; Enoh, De Jong, Sulemjani, Emanuelson; Luis Suárez, El Hamdaoui.
With El Clasico just around the corner, Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has refused to take a risk on some of his key players, with Higuain, Khedira and Carvalho not even making the trip to the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Luis Suarez's two-match ban for biting does not apply this evening, so he is expected to start!
Good evening and welcome to Goal.com's live coverage of this evening's Champions League encounter between Ajax and Real Madrid from the Amsterdam ArenA! Los Blancos have already qualified from Group G, with ten points from their four matches so far, and a win for the hosts would give their hopes of qualification a major boost!
