Sampath Kuttymani was the star of the game as he scored twice in the second half and thus ensured an easy victory for his side.
It was Khalid Jamil’s side who started well and eventually went into the lead in the 26th minute through Ebi Sukore.
Three minutes later, Nicholas Rodrigues doubled the lead to make it 2-0 for Mumbai FC and the scoreline remained so until the half-time.
It was complete dominance by Mumbai FC as Kuttymani’s couple of goals in the 72nd and 79th minute where a further testament of the same.
Air India did however manage to pull one back through Japanese midfielder Takayuki Omi in the injury time.
The win over Air India shall boost the confidence of Mumbai FC squad for their I-League campaign. Santosh Kashyap’s side still need to recover from their 14-0 defeat at the hands of Dempo SC at the end of last season.
