A very underwhelming game at best. This is all I, Ayush Srivastava have to report from here at Dashrath Stadium. Tweet your views to @ayush_sri
90' + 3'
And that's full-time here. Ends 0-0, which means Maldives faces India and Afghanistan are up against Nepal.Meanwhile Sri Lanka win 5-2 against Bhutan, consigning the Bhutan Eleven to the bottom of Group B's table.
90' + 2'
Last gasp chances for both Maldives and Afghanistan. First Amiri's poor header lets in Umair, whose poor finish is straight at the keeper. Then Azadzoy goes free on the other side, but his shot is tipped out.
Hashmatullah with a wasteful and hopeful effort from distance. Very much sums up today's game.
Hamidullah goes close as Jamhour finds him with a cute pass, the forward cuts in and his shot is deflected, almost over mohd Imran, who claws the ball back and holds on to it on the second attempt
Last ten minutes of the game, nothing new to report. Have you been surprised by the lack of urgency shown by Afghanistan? Tweet your views to @ayush_sri
Hashmatullah could have done better there! Found by a cute chip by Jamour, he decides to go for a first time shot, which is straight to the keeper.
Sanjar Ahmadi's shot goes just wide! Rafi's hopeful effort is blocked by the defenders, but falls to the forward. His snapshot goes just wide of goal
Poor decision making by Umair there! Found by Ali Fasir with a brilliant through ball, but the winger decides to take on a shot and blazes it well wide, when he could have squared it to players inside the box.
Yellow CardMohammad Marouf
Good long throw by Rafi causes some confusion in the Maldives box. The ball almost falls to Jamhour, but is cleared for a corner.
Corner to Afghanistan. The ball reaches Hashmatullah, but his header is weak and the ball goes out for a goalkick.
Another bad touch by Arezou. But Afghanistan get a freekick, which is floated in and cleared only till Sanjar Ahmadi, but he blazes over, with the goal at his mercy. This game needs a goal!
Niyaz almost picks out Abdulla ahamed with a good piercing ball through the defense. ut Abdulla is caught on his heels, and fails to reach the ball
Really a midfield battle here. A loose ball almost fell to Ahmadi, but the keeper sweeps it away
Long ball forward to Jamhour whose first time shot is well over.
Maldives have made a tactical switch, moving to a 3-5-2 formation, with Abdulla moving in a right wing-back position, after replacing Rasheed.
And we are under-way in the second half here. Lets see if either side shows more initiative now.
What did you make ofthe first half between Maldives and Afghanistan? Have Maldives looked lacklustre without their talismanic skipper? Tweet your views to @ayush_sri
Bhutan have pulled one goal back against Sri Lanka via Passang. 3-1 now in Sri Lanka's favour.
45' + 1'
Tired performance by the two teams. Nothing really to add here. Arezou has barely had a touch of note. And that's half-time. Not really a great game here. Possibly because there ain't much on stake.
Afghanistan enjoying some possession outwide. Jamour in particular is looking very threatening. Yet again he gets behind the defense, but the referee blows his whistle for handball.
A midfield battle going on right now. Both the teams seem to be conserving energy for the semi-final to come.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka have scored another goal. Lovely set up from the left flank crossed into the box, sadly deflected by Pema Dorji in his own nets
Umair should have done better there! Put clean through by Rasheed, but his shot is straight at the keeper, who gratefully hangs on to the ball. Poor finishing.
Ball breaks to amhour, who tries a very optimistic effort from well outside the box, which is closer to the corner flag, then it is to the goal.
Another Azadzoy cross goes just over Arezou's head. Meanwhile Sri Lanka go further ahead as a ball is sent through in the box and cleared by Bhattrai into Izzaddeen's feet who makes it 2-0
Great bit of skill by Sanjar Ahmadi, but the ball goes just over the bar. A Azadzoy cross is just behind Ahmadi, but the striker flicks the ball goalwards acrobatically, but it just goes over.
Maldives earn a freekick which is hit well by mohd Umair, but is too close to the keeper, who gathers gratefully.
Yellow CardMustafa Hadid
Meanwhile here is some news for the game between the two sides fighting to save themselves from earning the wooden spoon - 1-0 for Sri Lanka by Mohamed Izzadeen who knocks a left wing cross in 2 times into the back of the net
And just as I say it! Jamhour finds himself in acres of space on the elft wing,a nd crosses for Mashriqi, who has the simple task of slotting the ball home. However he completely misses his kick and Afghanistan lose out on an easy opportunity to score there.
Ahmadi with a shot that goes well over. Quite a wild effort there. The game really not having any clear cut opportunities at the moment.
Almost a chance for Asadhulla, who is found by a good long ball. However he cuts in on Mustafa Hadid, and before he can unleash his shot Muhaiuddin gets back to clear the danger.
OFFSIDE! Rasheed thought he was through on goal after some good link-up play between Asadhulla and Umair set him free. However the assistant referee had his flag up!
Good dribbling by Mashriqi there, as he cuts in from the wing and goes past a couple of players, before going down to a strong tackle by Arif. The referee deems it as a clean tackle.
Good long ball by Arif to Ahmed Rasheed. But the winger cannot make the most of it and the ball goes out for a goalkick
And Maldives kick us off over here!
It is probably a decision taken due to the player having incurred a yellow card against Bhutan and a second one would see him suspended for the semi-finals.
So the big news is that Ali Ashfaq has been left out of the starting XI of Maldives. Do you think they can win without him? Tweet your views to @ayush_sri
