Player Ratings: Tottenham 3-0 Coventry

Clint Dempsey and Gareth Bale combined as Spurs scored all three of their goals in the first half to see off the League One side and book a place in the FA Cup fourth round

    Brad Friedel

Had very little to do in a first half dominated by Spurs, collecting corners under no pressure and having few saves of note to make. Made one excellent save in the second half from a corner to keep Coventry at bay.

  • Benoit Assou-Ekotto

    Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Looked like he had never been away with an assured and positive display on the left-hand side. Given little to do defensively.

  • Kyle Naughton

    Kyle Naughton

Tested Murphy at his near post and made a block to deny Leon Clarke the chance to score. A decent display from the full-back.

  • Michael Dawson

    Michael Dawson

An assured performance from the Spurs captain, who was rarely tested by Leon Clarke or any other Coventry player.

  • Steven Caulker

    2.50

    Steven Caulker

A comfortable afternoon defensively for the young centre-back, who should have scored from a Huddlestone free kick in the second half. Made one vital block to deny Baker a goal.

Gareth Bale Top of the Match

Wasted no time making his mark on the game, flicking a free kick into Dempsey's path for the first goal before going close with two efforts of his own. Got his goal before the interval, converting a simple chance, and found Dempsey with a corner for the third. Replaced towards the end by Townsend.

  • Gylfi Sigurdsson

    Gylfi Sigurdsson

The midfielder's dangerous free kick provided his side with the opening goal. Always looked a threat at set pieces and in wide positions.

  • Scott Parker

    Scott Parker

Involved early on with plenty of short passes connecting defence to attack. Looked sharp before eventually coming off in the second half.

  • Tom Huddlestone

    Tom Huddlestone

Didn't have his shooting boots on in the early stages, producing a couple of woeful efforts, but showcased his exceptional range of passing.

  • Clint Dempsey

    Clint Dempsey

Was given the simplest of tasks to open the scoring, tapping in at the back post. His deflected effort allowed Bale to make it 2-0, before he grabbed the third himself with a looping header.

  • Emmanuel Adebayor

    Emmanuel Adebayor

Had very few chances of his own but was an important part of a Spurs attack that totally dominated the first half. Should have converted a Sigurdsson cross after the break.

The youngster slotted into midfield in the second half late on and did well.

    Joe Murphy

Could do little to stop an Dempsey's first, but was in no-man's land for the American's second. Helpless for Bale's close range effort, but kept out the Welshman in the second half.

  • Blair Adams

    Blair Adams

Almost turned an Assou-Ekotto cross into his own goal in the first half. Had no pace to contend with from Sigurdsson but was given a difficult afternoon by the midfielder's dangerous deliveries.

  • Jordan Clarke

    Jordan Clarke

Given the unenviable task of stopping Bale, which was made all the more difficult by the advancing Assou-Ekotto. Not an easy afternoon for the full-back.

  • Richard Wood

    Richard Wood

The only Coventry player to really test Friedel with a header from a corner, but the veteran goalkeeper was equal to it.

    William Emery Edjenguele

Struggled with the movement of Adebayor, Dempsey and Bale early on, but foiled the Togolese striker a handful of times in the second half.

    Carl Baker

Booked for a challenge on Caulker in the second half and was perhaps lucky not to be sent off having earlier escaped punishment for bringing down Bale. Unlucky to be denied by Caulker.

    Leon Clarke

Rarely saw the ball in the first half and looked isolated when he did gain possession. Almost had a chance to score but was denied by Naughton and should have scored in the second half.
