East Bengal will be looking to avoid any slip ups when they take on Oscar Bruzon's Sporting Clube de Goa at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday. The Red and Gold shall look to close the gap on title rivals Churchill Brothers to two points by getting a win against the Flaming Oranje.
Trevor Morgan's side were in action during midweek when they defeated Singapore's Tampines Rovers in an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) group stage match. They will be looking to channel some of that winning momentum into the I-League as they look to reward outgoing coach Trevor Morgan with a league title, the only trophy which he hasn't won in his three year stint in charge of the Kolkatans.
Sporting are looking to finish their season on a high. Free from the relegation battle, the Goans will be attempting to finish in a mid-table position after being under the threat of being relegated earlier on in the season.
Oscar Bruzon has done a fine job ever since he took over and has seen his side cause upsets in that time. They will look to dent the title aspirations of East Bengal when they face off at Kolkata. With the team having developed a winning attitude, they will look to make the Red and Gold earn their victory.
East Bengal: Midfield enforcers Harmanjot Khabra and Mehtab Hussain are suspended for this game. Andrew Barisic saw a recurrence of his hip injury during the AFC Cup game and will most likely be replaced by Manandeep Singh.
Sporting Clube de Goa: Samananda Singh makes a return from suspension. Dawson Fernandes and Joyner Lourenco are suspended for the tie.
