Mumbai FC will host a struggling Air India side in an I-League round 23 match on Sunday, which will witness two teams fighting out to get over their recent bad patch.
The home side is going through a dry run of form after some sturdy displays in the first half of their season. Having garnered only three points in their last five outings, it just gives a hint on how unimpressive they have been.
The Mumbai-based side have several experienced players among their ranks such as Abhishek Yadav and Yusif Yakubu to name a few. Haroon Amiri has been in top form for them and is certainly one of the most underrated players in the league.
Their defence looks porous given that Justine Stephen and Kamaljeet Kumar have been inconsistent.
Air India will not be part of next season's league given that they have failed to meet the club licensing criterion set by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) which has been enforced upon by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
They are clearly short on motivation and their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of United Sikkim is a testimony to this fact. They have only managed to get a point in their last four games.
The defence has been a cause of concern for the Airmen as they have conceded as many as 44 goals in their 21 matches played, averaging more than 2 goals per match.
Elijah Junior will shoulder the responsibility of scoring goals as Naushad Moosa's side would like to end their journey in the top flight football on a positive note.
Mumbai FC: Khalid Jamil is expected to make a few changes in his line-up from the last match.
Air India: Sukhwinder Singh and Prem Kumar are suspended for the tie. Rahul Bheke is back from suspension while Henry Ezeh has an ankle injury. Micky Fernandes will be asked to play as a stopper with John Dias to be included as well.
