With the I-League title staying at Goa in the hands of Churchill Brothers, this match may seem like a dead rubber, but for East Bengal there is plenty to change.
The Red and Gold have suffered five consecutive draws in the league which hampered their title charge to a large extent. Trevor Morgan's side will face off against Yangon United on May 12 in the knockout round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup. Though the Kolkatans have done well in the continental tournament, they will need to build up some momentum before that game.
East Bengal will be targeting a second placed finish and have two home games to achieve that. They will face a United Sikkim side who have been relegated after a very short stint in the top flight of Indian football.
Coach Nathan Hall has instilled a fighting spirit into the ranks but that was not enough to save the North-eastern side from welcoming I-League Division 2 football from next year. They will now have nothing but pride to play for against one of the giants of Indian football.
East Bengal: Goalkeeper Abhijit Mondal and defender Arnab Mondal are back from injury. They will hence be available for selection.
United Sikkim: Coach Nathan Hall will be able to field Anwar Ali and Sandesh Jhingan after the duo have shaken off their injuries.
