Pailan Arrows will take on a resurgent Sporting side at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The All India Football Federation (AIFF)'s developmental side have had an inconsistent season where they put up a good performance and follow it up with a poor show. Coach Arthur Papas would have no doubt rued the defeat to East Bengal as his team gave the Red and Gold a run for their money. The Arrows had a numerical advantage over their opponents but could not prevent the opposition from pulling off a scrappy victory.

The young side will have to be wary of their opponents this week as Oscar Barreras' Sporting arrive in the City of Joy. The visitors have put together a decent run of form ever since Ekendra Singh was relieved of his coaching duties. The Goans are unbeaten in their last three games which included a last gasp victory over Churchill Brothers in the previous round of the I-League. The Arrows will look to end the Goans' purple patch and look to win before the I-League breaks off for a 40 day period.

Sporting coach Oscar Barreras will have reason to smile. The Spaniard has overseen the Goan club's rise from the depths of the relegation spots in the table to mid-table safety. The Flaming Oranje pulled off a 1-0 victory over their Goan rivals Churchill Brothers which takes their unbeaten run to three games. What would be really heartening to see for Barreras is the fact that his team have kept three clean sheets in as many games. The Goans travel to Kolkata to take on a Pailan Arrows side who are still struggling to find some consistency in their form and Barreras will look to use this to his advantage as he seeks to continue his team's fine run of form.

Pailan Arrows: Arthur Papas will not have the services of midfielder Pranoy Halder due to suspension. The rest of the team is likely to remain unchanged.

Sporting Clube de Goa: Oscar Barreras will not look to tinker with the lineup that brought him victory over Churchill Brothers. He however might be tempted to field Rovan Pereira after the defender came on as a substitute against the Red Machine to snatch a last minute goal. Joyner Lourenco looks a doubtful starter owing to a hamstring problem. Dawson Fernandes is available for selection after a long injury-lay off.

  • Sporting are one of four sides who have conceded more than 30 goals in the I-League so far. The others are ONGC FC (31), Shillong Lajong FC (31) and Air India (32).
  • Pailan Arrows have kept only one clean sheet in their last five games.
