Churchill Brothers SC continued their forward march in the league table as they registered yet another victory over a lacklustre Pailan Arrows side at the Duler Stadium, Goa, on Wednesday.

Prathamesh Maulingkar had handed the lead to the away side in the second half however three goals within six minutes with Henri Antchouet (60' and 63') and Israil Gurung (65') secured a vital win for the Goan side as they opened a three point gap at the top.

Mariano Dias, as expected, shuffled the strikers as he named Akram Moghrabi in the starting eleven while Henri Antchouet started on the bench.

Arthur Papas opted for Prathamesh Maulingkar while deceding to drop Rajinder Kumar on the bench which was the only change from the side that conceded three goals against ONGC FC.

Churchill's first attack in the very first minute saw Denzil Franco's cross from the right headed wide by Ajay Singh. The home side were enjoying more of the ball but only until around the 15th minute after which the visitors found their feet.

In the 14th minute, Prathamesh Maulingkar effected a good interception to deflect a Steven Dias cross which was directed towards Ajay Singh in the box and a nice one-two between Roberto Mendes da Silva (Beto) and Akram Moghrabi was cut out by Pritam Kotal two minutes later.

It wasn't the best performance by Churchill Brothers thus far, as their passing was a bit wayward as the Arrows began to press high up the pitch.

Beto, with a cheeky touch on the ball in the 33rd minute, moved ahead to release substitute Israil Gurung on the left flank, who replaced Ajay Singh in the 28th minute, but the Churchill player sprinted inside the box and tried to earn a penalty but instead was booked for simulation.

Crossing over for the second half, Churchill Brothers tried to make up for the poor display of the first half as Thangjam Singh released Moghrabi on the left flank, but Maulingkar did well to disposses the Lebanese striker.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 56th minute when Milan Singh's corner-kick was headed in by the AIFF developmental side's Maulingkar following the set-piece conceded by Churchill keeper Sandip Nandy while deflecting Holicharan Narzary's shot.

It didn't take long for the equaliser as a cross played in by Steven Dias was rallied by Beto, while Henri Antchouet was left to tap the ball in just four minutes later.

Three minutes later, a long ball played in from the right by Denzil Franco to Beto was too long to his team-mate on the far side, but the Brazilian managed to cross the ball back in which was backheeled into the net by Antchouet.

In the 65th minute, Antchouet set up fellow substitute Israel Gurung who tapped in Churchill's third as all the goals for the home side were scored by substitutes.

Antchouet hit the outside of the netting in the 83rd minute, while Tirthankar Sarkar shot straight to Churchill keeper Sandip Nandy in the 85th minute from inside the box in one of the rare attacks initiated by Pailan Arrows.

Churchill Brothers have hence taken advantage of Pune FC and East Bengal's defeats to extend their lead on the top with 31 points from 13 matches, while Pailan Arrows have 14 points from as many outings.
