Salgaocar and ONGC didn't make the most of their chances and had to settle for a share of the spoils leaving both sides at the bottom of the table.

Salgaocar FC played ONGC FC at the Fatorda Stadium in a round 11 I-League encounter that ended in a scoreless draw with both sides unable to put away their chances at the Fatorda stadium in Goa, on Friday.

Salgaocar captain Luciano Sabrosa and Francis Fernandes were unavailable for their side through injury while Beevan D'Mello was drafted into the starting line-up with Dada Nabeel benched. Hasan Odeola and Hasan Gurung made for a strong central defence for ONGC while Eric Brown and Keniston C started up front with Katsumi slotting in behind the striking duo.

In Salgaocar's first attack, in the ninth minute, Beevan D'Mello initially looked to shoot, but passed it to Milagres Gonsalves whose curler however was brilliantly kept out by ONGC keeper Rehenesh T.P. with an acrobatic dive to his left.

ONGC frontmen Eric Brown and Keniston C were doing enough to push the opponents into their own, while the former's pile-driver which was his second attempt was directed straight and low towards Salgaocar keeper Karanjit Singh in the 15th minute.

The home side had another chance in the 24th minute when Rocus Lamare sent in a goal-mouth flag kick but Fulganco Cardozo didn't seem alert enough at the opposite end as the Salgaocar defender's sent the ball wide.

Salgaocar clearly had the better of the chances until then but Anthony Barbosa's cross in the path of Rocus Lamare was crucially cleared by Bimal Minj in the 35th minute.

In the last of the disillusionary chances that fell to David Booth's side in the first half, Jacob's release saw Gilbert Oliveira's shot parried by Rehenesh T.P.

The second half resumed in a similar fashion for Salgaocar but both Milagres and substitute Dada Nabeel failing to convert their chance from inside the ONGC box in the 48th and 50th minute respectively.

Eventually in the 64th minute, an ONGC attack saw Eric Brown cross to Yusa Katsumi, but the Japanese wasn't able to get enough power behind his header as his header fell to the ground for the Salgaocar defence to deal with.

Another chance fell to Milagres Gonsalves in the 77th minute but the Salgaocar striker shot wide in front of an open goal from inside the six-yard area after being perfectly set-up by Brian Mascarenhas.

Four minutes later, Brian Mascarenhas' free-kick was headed out by Robin Gurung and Salgaocar midfielder Quinton Jacob shot wide despite Rehenesh T.P. being unsettled from his position.

The draw keeps both sides rooted to the bottom of the table with seven points each while Salgaocar remains ahead of Subrata Bhattacharya's side only on goal difference.
