East Bengal will have all to play for as they take on a Kalighat side who will be playing for pride in this final Group C fixture. The Red and Gold have to win and hope that ONGC FC do them a favour by dropping points off Sporting Club de Goa, in order to progress. East Bengal and Sporting are currently tied on 4 points each only being separated by number of goals scored with the latter having scored a goal more.

Trevor Morgan's side have not put in convincing displays in their opening two fixtures that included a  scrappy win against a daring ONGC side. East Bengal need to win convincingly against Kalighat. That would not be the end of it as their fate will rest on the result between Sporting Clube de Goa and ONGC, with Morgan hoping that at worse, the Goans win with a margin lesser than the scoreline with which East Bengal beat Kalighat, if they manage to do that at all.

Edeh Chidi has scored two goals in as many matches and much will rest on his shoulders on Tuesday. Manandeep Singh did score the winner against ONGC which would have done his confidence a world of good.

Manandeep Singh should provide support to Nigerian Edeh Chidi

Kalighat made it to the tournament after beating their opponents in an emphatic fashion during the qualifiers. But they were unable to bring the form into the tournament. That has left them languishing at the bottom of the table. They can make a difference in deciding who among Sporting, East Bengal and ONGC will qualify for the semi-finals. Kalighat can ruin East Bengal's chances if they beat or draw against them. At length, Kalighat will not be going down without a fight in this final group fixture in Group C.

  • Kalighat MS was formed in 1944 but did not move into professional football till January 2012.

  • The high voltage Kolkata derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan is listed in FIFA's classic derby list

  • East Bengal defender Uga Samuel Okpara was the vice captain of the Nigerian team for FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2005 and 2007
